The convenience key • is a remote control key with
special functions

You can unlock/lock your vehicle with the remote
control key. A mechan ica l key is integrated in the
remote control key
c!;> page 26.
@ Separate mechanical key
This key is not intended for constant use. It
should only be used in an emergency. Do not car­ ry it on your key ring and do not store it in the ve­
hicle.
Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility . Have
this key de ­
activated. It is important to bring a ll keys with
you.
If a key is lost, yo u should report it to your
insurance company.
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys assigned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system . Select:

! CAR ! function button> (Car )* Systems con ­
trol button
> Service & control > Programmed
keys .
This way, you can make sure that you have
a co all the keys when pu rchasing a used vehicle . ,...,

Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
the ve hicle .
Und er certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to sta rt if there is a key from a different
vehicle manufacturer on the key chain.
Data in the master key
When driving, service and ma intenance-relevant
data is cont inuously stored in your remote con­
trol key . Your Audi service advisor can read out
th is data and tell you about the work yo ur vehicle
needs. This app lies also to vehicles w ith a con­
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their
own" master
k ey. When the ignition is turned off or when the
vehicle is locked, personal conven ience settings
for the following systems are stored and as­
s igned to the remote master key.
- Climate control system
- Ce ntral locking system
- W indows
- Interior lighting*
- Memory function*
- Parking aid*
- Adapt ive cr uise control•
- Active lane assist*
- Side assist*
- Dr ive select
- Night vision assist*
- Steering wheel heating*
T he stored settings are automat ically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, open the doo rs or
turn on the ignition.

If you leave the vehicle, switch the ignition off
and take the vehicle key w ith you. This applies
particularly when children remain in the vehi­
cle . Otherwise the children could start the en­
g ine or operate electrical equipment such as
power windows .

you make the movement as described. This pre­
vents the luggage compartment lid from opening
due to similar movements, such as when you
walk between the rear of the vehicle and your ga­
rage door.
G eneral informati on
In some situations , the function may be limited
or temporari ly unavai lable. This may happen if:
- the luggage compartment lid was closed imme­
diately before.
- you park close to a hedge and the branches
move back and forth under the vehicle for a
l ong period of time
- yo u clean your vehicle, fo r example with a pres­
s u re washer or in a car wash
- there is heavy rain
- the bumper is very dirty, for example afte r driv -
ing on salt-covered roads
- the re is interfe rence to the radio signa l from
the veh icle key, such as from cell phones or re­
mo te controls

Child safety lock
The child safety lock prevents the rear doors
from being opened from the inside and the rear
power windows from be operated.

Power windows
Controls
The driver can control all power windows.

All power window sw itches are equ ipped with a
two-stage function:
Op en ing and closing the window s
.. To open or close the w indow completely, p ress
the switch down or pu ll the switch up briefly to
th e second level. The operation will stop if the
switch is p ressed/pu lled again.
.. To se lect a position in between opened and
closed, press/pull the switch to the first level
until the desired window position is reached .

A WARNING
- If you leave the veh icle, switch the ignition
off and take the vehicle key with you . This
applies particularly when children remain in
the vehicle . Otherwise children could start
the engine or operate electrical equipment (suc h as power windows), wh ich increases

the risk of an accident. The power windows
continue to function until the driver's door
or front passenger's door has been opened.
- Pay careful attention when closing the win­
dows. Pinching could cause serious injuries .
- When locking the vehicle from outside, the
vehicle must be unoccup ied since the win­
dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency.
(D Tips
You can still open and close the windows for
approximately 10 minutes after turn ing the
ignition off. The power windows do not switch
off until the driver's door or front passenger's
door has been opened .
Convenience opening
All of the window s and the sunroof* can be
opened at once.
The sett ings in the Infota inment system spec ify
which w indows will open.
Convenience opening feature
.. Press and hold the Iii button on the remote
control key until a ll of the windows reach the
desired posit ion and the sunroof* is tilted open.

.. Select: the I CAR I function button > (Car )* Sys­

tral loc king > Long-p ress to open wi ndows .
To enable convenience opening of the windows
and the roof *, the
Front window s, Rear windo ws
and Roof functions must be switched On .
A WARNING
-
For security reasons, the windows and the
sunroof* can on ly be opened w it h the remote
control key at a maximum distance of approx ­
imately 6 feet (2 m) from the veh icle .

Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions.
... Pull the power window switch up until the win­
dow is completely raised.
... Release the switch and pull it up again for at
least one second .
Sunroof
Description

... To tilt the sunroof completely, press the switch

... To move the roof into the reduced wind noise
position, press the button back briefly to the
second level. The roof will open all the way if
you press the button back to the second level

switch forward briefly to the second

the switch forward/back to the first level until
the desired position is reached.

The sunshade can be opened and closed by hand
when the roof is closed . The sunshade opens au­
tomatically when the roof is opened .
You can sti ll operate the sliding/tilting sunroof
for about 10 minutes after the ignition is switch­
ed off. The switch is deactivated once the driver's
or front passenger's door is opened.
A WARNING
---To reduce the risk of injury, always pay atten-
tion when closing the sliding/tilting sunroof .
Always switch the ignition off when leaving
the vehicle and always take the vehicle with
you .
(D Note
Always close your slid ing/tilting sunroof when
leaving your vehicle . Sudden rain can cause
damage to the interior equipment of your ve­
hicle, particularl y the electronic equipment.
(D Tips
-For information on conven ience opening, re­
fer to
¢ page 34 .
-The sunroof will only open down to -20 °(
(-4 °F).
Sunroof power emergency closing
Applies to: vehicles with sliding/tilting sunroof
If the sunroof detects an object in its path when
it is closing, it will open again automatically . In
th is case, you can close the roof with the power
emergency closing function .
... Within five seconds after the sunroof opens au­
tomatically, pull the switch until the roof
closes.
If you let go of the switch early, the sunroof will
open again.

will dim when there is incoming light (such as headlights from the rear) .
A WARNING
If the glass on an automatic dimming mirror
breaks, electrolyte can leak out. This liquid
can irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory sys ­
tem . If there is contact with the flu id, flush
immediately with plenty of wate r. Consult a
physician if necessary.
- Repeated or long-term exposure to electro­
lyte fluid can lead to irritation of the air­
ways, especially in people with asthma or
other respiratory conditions. Take deep
breaths immediate ly after leaving the veh i­
cle or, if this is not possible, open all of the
doors and windows as wide as possible.
- If electrolyte fluid enters the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with a large amount of
clean water for at least 15 minutes and then
seek medical attention.
- If electrolyte f luid comes into contact with
the skin, flush the affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and then clean
with soap and water and seek med ical at­
tent ion . Clean affected cloth ing and shoes
thoroughly before wear ing again .
- If the fluid was swallowed and the person is
conscious, fl ush the mouth with water for at
least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting
unless this is recommended by medical pro­
fessionals. Seek medical attention immedi­
ately .
(D Note
If the glass on an automatic dimming mirror
breaks, e lectrolyte can leak out . This liquid
damages plastic surfaces and paint. Clean
this liquid as quickly as possible, for example
with a wet sponge.

-If the light reaching the rearview mirror is
obstructed, the automatic dimming mirror
will not function correctly,
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is se lected.

The rear window sunshade ca n be set so that it
retracts automatically when driving in reverse. To

again after a brief waiting period .

Move the windshie ld w iper lever to the co rre­
sponding posit ion:

(D -Rain senso r mode. The w indshield w ipers
swi tch on on ce the veh icle speed exceeds a pprox ­
imately 2 mp h (4 km/h) and it is ra ining . The
higher the sensitivity of the ra in se nsor that is set
(switch @to the rig ht), the ea rlier the wind­
shield wipers react to mo isture on the wind­
shield . You can deact ivate the ra in sensor mode
i n the Info ta inmen t sys tem, wh ic h sw itches the
i nte rm itte nt mode on . Se lect: ICARI f unct ion but­
ton

Clean the headlight s*. The he adlight washer sys ­
tem* operates only whe n the low beam head -
li gh ts are on. If you move the leve r to pos it io n

with proper deployment of the side curtain
airbags in an accident.
-Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop .
CD Note
Objects on the rear shelf that rub against the
rear window can damage the rear window
heating wires.
Roof rack

If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following:
-Only a specia lly designed roof ra ck may be used
o n your veh icle. These roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional at ­
tachments/carrier systems are necessary to
transport luggage and sports equipment. We
recommend roof racks and attachments from
the Audi Genu ine Accessor ies program.
-When installing the roof rack, make sure that it
is mounted only at the designated points on
the roof
i:> fig. 64 .
-Note the perm itted axle load, permitted total
weight, and permitted roof load of your vehicle
<=> page 246. The roof load is the tota l of the
weight of t he roof rack, the attachments and
the cargo you are carrying. However, you must
also note the permitted load of the carrier sys­
tem being used .

-Follow the installation instructions provided
w it h the roof rack system. If you do not se­
cure the roof rack system and objects on the
roof correctly, they could come loose from
the vehicle and ca use an accident .
-Using a roof rack system increases the r isk
of an accident, because it changes the ve hi­
cle handling characte rist ics wh ile driving by
shifting the center of grav ity and/or the in­
creasing the sur face area exposed to wind .
You may need to adapt your driving sty le
and speed to the current conditions.
CD Note
Make sure that the luggage compartment lid
and the sunroof* do not come into contact
with objects on the roof when they are open .
@ For the sake of the environment
Your vehi cle will require mo re fuel d ue to the
increased wind resistance. So remove the roof
rack after using it.
