Warning symbols in the instrumentpanel
The warning symbols alert the driver that animportant function is activated or that a seriousfault has occurred.
SymbolMeaning
Warning
The red warning symbol alerts thedriver that an important function isactivated or that a serious faulthas occurred that may affect thevehicle's drivability. The warningsymbol can also illuminate in com-bination with other symbols.
Seat belt reminder
This symbol will flash for approxi-mately 6 seconds if the driver orfront seat passenger has not fas-tened his or her seat belt or if any-one in the rear seat has unbuck-led a seat belt.

If this light remains on after thevehicle has been started or comeson while the vehicle is beingdriven, a fault has been detectedin one of the vehicle's safety sys-tems. Oil pressure
If the symbol illuminates duringdriving, stop the vehicle, theengine oil level is too low. Stop theengine immediately and check theengine oil level. Add oil if neces-sary. If the oil level is normal andthe symbol remains illuminated,have the vehicle towed to thenearest authorized Volvo work-shop or trained and qualified Volvoservice technician.
Generator not charging
This symbol illuminates duringdriving if a fault has occurred inthe electrical system. Contact anauthorized Volvo workshop ortrained and qualified Volvo servicetechnician.

WARNING
•If the fluid level is below the MIN mark inthe brake fluid reservoir or if a warningmessage is displayed in the text window:DO NOT DRIVE. Have the vehicle towedto a trained and qualified Volvo servicetechnician and have the brake systeminspected.

Compass
The rear-view mirror has an integrated compassthat shows the direction in which the vehicle istraveling.

Switching the compass on/off
The compass is displayed automatically when thevehicle is started or in ignition mode II.

Center display

Messages with lower priority for the driver areshown in the center display.
Most of the messages are shown in the centerdisplay's status bar. The message times out aftera short period of time or disappears if it has beenconfirmed or if action has been taken. Messagesthat need to be stored are saved under My carmessages in Top view.
Some messages in the center display containone or more buttons for e.g., confirming the mes-sage or accepting a request.
Messages' form can vary and they may be dis-played with graphics, symbols or buttons for e.g.,confirming a message or accepting a request.

Handling a saved message
In expanded form, some messages have two but-tons for booking service or reading the owner'smanual.
Booking service:
–With the message in expanded form, tapRequest appoint./Call to make
Appointment14 to book a service/repairappointment.
>Request appoint.: the Appointmentstab will open in the app and create arequest for a service/repair appointment.
Call to make Appointment: the phoneapp will start and initiate a call to your pre-ferred retailer to make a service/repairappointment.
Reading the owner's manual:
–With the message in expanded form, tapOwner's manual to read the section of theowner's manual related to the message.
>The owner's manual will open in the cen-ter display and provide information relatedto the message.
Messages stored in the app will be erased auto-matically each time the engine is started.
Messages saved from the center
display
Saved messages and possible selections in Top view
Messages that have been shown in the centerdisplay and need to be saved are stored in thecenter display's Top view.
Reading a saved message
1. Open the center display's Top view.
> A list of saved messages will be displayed.The ones with an arrow to the right canbe expanded.
2. Tap the arrow to the right to expand/mini-mize the message.
Handling a saved message
Some messages have a button to e.g., activate/deactivate a function related to the message.
–Tap the button to carry out the action.
Messages saved in Top view are erased automat-ically when the engine is switched off.

Activating/deactivating the rainsensor
The rain sensor monitors the amount of water onthe windshield and automatically regulates wiperspeed.

When the rain sensor is activated, the symbol will illuminate in the instrument panel.
Activating the rain sensor
When activating the rain sensor, the engine mustbe running or the ignition must be in mode I or II.
The windshield wiper lever must also be in posi-tion 0 or in the single sweep position.
Activate the rain sensor by pressing the button. The wipers will make one sweep.
If the lever is pressed down, the wipers will makeadditional sweeps across the windshield.
Move the thumb wheel upward for increased sen-sitivity or downward for decreased sensitivity. Thewipers will make one extra sweep if the thumbwheel is moved upward.
Deactivating the rain sensor
Deactivate the rain sensor by pressing the button or by moving the lever upward to anotherwiper position.
The rain sensor is automatically deactivated inignition mode 0.
The rain sensor is also automatically deactivatedwhen the wipers blades are put in the serviceposition and will reactivate when the wipers havebeen returned to the normal operating position.
CAUTION
Deactivate the rain sensor when washing thevehicle in an automatic car wash if the engineis running or if the ignition is left in mode I orII. The symbol in the instrument panel will goout. If the rain sensor is not deactivated, thewipers may start inadvertently in the car washand could be damaged.
Activating/deactivating the memory
function
The rain sensor's memory function can be set toactivate the rain sensor each time the engine isstarted:

2.Activate by selecting the Rain SensorMemory box.
Deactivate by deselecting the Rain SensorMemory box.

Passenger compartment air filter
All air entering the passenger compartmentthrough the climate system air intake is filtered.
Filter replacement
The filter must be replaced according to the serv-ice schedule for your vehicle. When driving in e.g.,dusty or industrial areas, the filer may need to bereplaced more often. Consult your Volvo retailer.

Automatic climate control
The Auto feature automatically controls a num-ber of climate system functions.
The Auto climate button in Climate view
1. Go to the center display's Climate view.
2.Tap or press and hold AUTO.
>Auto mode is activated (button lights up)/deactivated (button is off). Auto modeautomatically controls air recirculation, airconditioning, and air distribution.
Blower speed and temperature changedepending on how long the button ispressed.
•Tap: return to previous settings.
•Press and hold: change to default set-tings (level 3 and 72 °F (22 °C).
