GENERAL INFORMATION
Apple SiriŠEyes Free personal assistant can be
accessed from the vehicle. SiriŠEyes Free can
be accessed in SiriŠEyes Free mode to reduce
user distraction. In this mode, SiriŠEyes Free is
available for interaction by voice control. After
connecting a compatible Apple device by using
Bluetooth
Š, SiriŠEyes Free can be activated
using thebutton on the steering wheel.
SiriŠis a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in
the U.S. and other countries.

.Some Siri
ŠEyes Free functions, such as
opening apps, may not be available during
driving.
.For best results, always update your device
to the latest software version.
.Keep the interior of the vehicle as quiet as
possible. Close the windows to eliminate the
surrounding noises (traffic noises, vibration

from recognizing the voice commands cor-

REQUIREMENTS
SiriŠis available on the iPhoneŠ4S or later.
Devices released before iPhoneŠ4S are not

SIRIŠEYES FREE ACTIVATION
SiriŠEyes Free function can be activated using
thebutton on the steering wheel.
1. Connect a SiriŠEyes Free enabled iPhoneŠ
to the vehicle. (See “Connecting procedure”
(P.4-95) or “Initialization” (P.4-85) .)
2. After the Bluetooth
Šconnection is estab-
lished, push and hold thebutton to
activate the SiriŠEyes Free function.
Depending on the model, SiriŠEyes Free
activation option (“Short Press” or “Long
Press”) can be selected after connecting the
iPhone
Š. The activation option can also be
changed from the Phone or BluetoothŠ
SIRIŠEYES FREE

settings menu. (See “Changing SiriŠEyes
Free Settings (models with navigation sys-
tem)” (P.4-79) or “Changing Siri
ŠEyes Free
Settings (models without navigation sys-
tem)” (P.4-79).)
OPERATING SIRIŠEYES FREE
1. Push or push and hold thebutton.
2. Speak your command and then listen to the
Siri
ŠEyes Free reply.
After starting SiriŠEyes Free, push thebutton again within five seconds of the end of
the SiriŠEyes Free announcement to extend the
session.
Example 1 - Playing music
1. Push or push and hold the
button.
2. Say “Play (artist name, song name, etc.)”.
3. Your vehicle will automatically change to
Bluetooth
Šaudio or iPodŠmode* when the
music starts playing. Mode selection is
determined by the phone.
*: If the iPhone
Šis also connected with the
USB cable.
If the audio track does not start playing
automatically after Siri
ŠEyes Free ends, try
changing the track or audio source to resume

Example 2 - Replying to text messages

2. Touch the “Settings” key.

Symptom Cause and Countermeasure
Cannot access SiriŠEyes Free from the switch on
the steering wheelCheck if a BluetoothŠconnection is established between the iPhoneŠand the system.
Check if SiriŠis enabled on the device. On your phone, go to SiriŠsetting.
Check that SiriŠcan be accessed from the device lock screen. This can be set in the settings menu of your phone.
Check the settings for SiriŠEyes Free activation on the vehicle audio system. If the setting is “Long Press”, you must
push and hold thebutton on the steering wheel for more than 1.5 seconds to start SiriŠEyes Free. If the setting is
“Short Press”, a short push and release of the button should start SiriŠEyes Free.
Audio source does not change automatically to
iPod
Šor BluetoothŠAudio modeFor best results, use the native music app. Performance of music control function while using Podcasts, Audiobook or

For best results, play media already stored on your device. Streaming music or playback from cloud storage may

The manual control mode does not allow dialing
a phone number by digits. The user may select
an entry from the Phonebook or Recent Calls
lists. To reactivate Voice Recognition, exit the
manual control mode by pushing and holding the
button. At that time, pushing thebutton
will start the BluetoothŠHands-Free Phone
System.
Choosing a language
You can interact with the BluetoothŠHands-
Free Phone System using several languages
that are available. For operations to change the
language, see “Audio main operation” (P.4-48)
or “Audio main operation” (P.4-56) .
Changing voice feedback volume
If you want to adjust the volume of the voice
feedback, push the volume control buttons on
the steering wheel while being provided with
feedback. You can also use the Power/VOL dial
on the control panel.
Initialization
When the ignition switch is placed in the ACC
or ON position, voice recognition is initialized,
which takes a few seconds. If the
button is
pushed before the initialization completes, the
system will announce “Hands-free phone sys-
tem not ready” and will not react to voice
commands.
Connecting procedure:
NOTE:
The connecting procedure must be per-
formed when the vehicle is stationary. If
the vehicle starts moving during the pro-
cedure, the procedure will be cancelled.

.Auto Reply (if so equipped)
Select to turn on or off the Auto Reply
function. When enabled, the vehicle will
automatically send a predefined text
message to the sender when a text
message is received while driving.
.Auto Reply Message (if so equipped)
Select to choose the message that is
sent when the Auto Reply function is
enabled. Choose from “I’m Driving” or
one of the three custom messages
stored in the system.
.Vehicle Signature On/Off (if so equipped)
Select to choose whether or not the
vehicle signature is added to outgoing
text messages from the vehicle. This
message cannot be changed or custo-
mized.
WARNING
.Use a phone after stopping your
vehicle in a safe location. If you
have to use a phone while driving,
exercise extreme caution at all
times so full attention may be given
to vehicle operation.
.If you are unable to devote full
attention to vehicle operation while
talking on the phone, pull off the
road to a safe location and stop
your vehicle.
CAUTION
To avoid discharging the vehicle bat-
tery, use a phone after starting the
engine.
Your vehicle is equipped with the Bluetooth
Š
Hands-Free Phone System. If you have a
compatible BluetoothŠenabled cellular phone,
you can set up the wireless connection between
your cellular phone and the in-vehicle phone
module. With Bluetooth
Šwireless technology,
you can make or receive a hands-free telephonecall with your cellular phone in the vehicle.
Once your cellular phone is connected to the in-
vehicle phone module, no other phone connect-
ing procedure is required. Your phone is
automatically connected with the in-vehicle
phone module when the ignition switch is
placed in the ON position with the connected
cellular phone turned on and carried in the
vehicle.
You can register up to five different Bluetooth
Š
cellular phones to the in-vehicle phone module.
However, you can talk on only one cellular phone
at a time.
NISSAN Voice Recognition system supports the
phone commands, so dialing a phone number
using your voice is possible. For more details,
see “NISSAN Voice Recognition system (mod-
els with navigation system)” (P.4-99).
Before using the Bluetooth
ŠHands-Free Phone
System, refer to the following notes.
.Set up the wireless connection between a
cellular phone and the in-vehicle phone
module before using the Hands-Free Phone
System.
.Some Bluetooth

CONNECTING PROCEDURE
NOTE:
The connecting procedure must be per-
formed when the vehicle is stationary. If
the vehicle starts moving during the pro-
cedure, the procedure will be cancelled.
1. Push the APPS·i button on the control panel.
2. Touch the “Settings” key.
3. Touch the “Phone & Bluetooth” key.
4. Touch the “Connect New Device” key.
5. Initiate the connecting process from the
handset. The system will display the mes-
sage. If the PIN is displayed on yourBluetooth
Šdevice, select “Yes” to complete
the pairing process.

VEHICLE PHONEBOOK
To access the vehicle phonebook:
1. Push the
button on the control panel.
2. Touch the “Phonebook” key.
3. Choose the desired entry from the displayed
list.
4. The number of the entry will be displayed on
the screen. Touch the number to initiate
dialing.
NOTE:
To scroll quickly through the list, touch the
“A-Z”key in the upper right corner of the
screen. Turn the ENTER AUDIO/TUNE·SC-
ROLL dial to choose a letter or number and
then push the ENTER AUDIO/TUNE·SC-
ROLL dial. The list will move to the first
entry that begins with that number or
letter.
MAKING A CALL
To make a call, follow the procedure below:
1. Push the
button on the control panel.
The “PHONE” screen will appear on the
display.
2. Select one of the following options to make
a call:
.“Phonebook”: Select the name from an entry
stored in the vehicle phonebook.
.“Call Lists”: Select the name from the
incoming, outgoing or missed.
.“Redial”: Dial the last outgoing call from the
vehicle.
.“
”: Input the phone number manually
using a keypad displayed on the screen. For
information on how to use the touch screen,
see “How to use touch screen” (P.4-4) .
RECEIVING A CALL
When a call is placed to the connected phone,
the display will change to phone mode.
To accept the incoming call:
.Push the
button on the steering wheel.
.Touch the call accept icon (
) on the
screen.
To reject the incoming call:
.Push the
button on the steering wheel.

Giving voice commands
Follow the procedure below to conduct a voice
recognition operation:
1. Push the
button.
2. The system announces: “Please say a
category like phone or a command like
points of interest followed by a brand name”.
A list of available commands is then spoken
by the system.3. After the tone sounds and the face icon on
the display changes, speak a command.
Available commands are discussed in this
section.
4. Voice and display feedback are provided
when the command is accepted.
.If you want to go back to the previous menu
of commands, push the
button on the
steering wheel, back button on the steering
wheel or BACK button on the control panel.
The system will announce: “Go Back”
depending on the current menu level.
.If you want to adjust the volume of the voice
feedback, use the volume control buttons on
the steering wheel or the POWER/VOLUME
dial on the control panel.
.The voice command screen can also be
accessed using the touch screen:
1) Push the APPS·i button.
2) Touch the “Voice Commands” key.
Operating tips
To get the best performance out of NISSAN
Voice Recognition, observe the following:
.Keep the interior of the vehicle as quiet as
possible. Close the windows to eliminate the
surrounding noises (traffic noises, vibration
sounds, etc.) , which may prevent the system
from recognizing the voice commands cor-rectly.
.Wait until a tone sounds before speaking a
command. Otherwise, the command will not
be received properly.
.Start speaking a command within 3.5
seconds after the tone sounds.
.Speak in a natural voice without pausing
between words.
