4. Pull out the seatback locking knob(1) in the trunk, then fold the seat
toward the front of the vehicle. 5. To use the rear seat, lift and pull
the seatback backward. Pull the
seatback firmly until it clicks into
place. Make sure the seatback is
locked in place.
6. Return the rear seat belt to the proper position.
WARNING
After folding the rear seat, unlessthe driver’s position is properly setaccording to the driver’s physical fig‐ure, do not fold the rear seat. It mayincrease body injuries in a suddenstop or collision.

nUprighting seat
When you return the seatback to itsupright position, hold the seatbackand return it slowly. If the seatbackis returned without holding it, theback of the seat could spring for‐ward resulting in injury caused bybeing struck by the seatback.
WARNING
When you return the rear seatbackto its upright position after beingfolded down:Be careful not to damage the seatbelt webbing or buckle. Do not allowthe seat belt webbing or buckle toget caught or pinched in the rearseat. Ensure that the seatback iscompletely locked into its uprightposition by pushing on the top of theseatback. Otherwise, in an accidentor sudden stop, the seat could folddown and allow cargo enter the pas‐senger compartment, which couldresult in serious injury or death.
CAUTION
nDamaging rear seat belt buck‐les
When you fold the rear seatback, in‐sert the buckle between the rearseatback and cushion. Doing so canprevent the buckle from being dam‐aged by the rear seatback.

SMART KEY
Record your key number
The key code number is stamped on the
key code tag attach‐ed to the key set.
Should you lose your keys, we recom‐
mend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer. Remove the key code tag
and store it in a safe place. Also, record
the key code number and keep it in a safe place (not in the vehicle).

To remove the mechanical key, press
and hold the release button (1) and re‐ move the mechanical key (2).
To reinstall the mechanical key, put the
key into the hole and push it until a
click sound is heard.
WARNING
nIgnition key (smart key)
Leaving children unattended in a ve‐hicle with the ignition key (smartkey) is dangerous even if the key isnot in the ignition or the start but‐ton is in the ACC or ON position. Chil‐dren copy adults and they couldplace the key in the ignition or pressthe start button. The smart keywould enable children to operatepower windows or other controls, oreven make the vehicle move, whichcould result in serious bodily injuryor even death. Never leave the keysin your vehicle with unsupervisedchildren, when the engine is running.
WARNING
We recommend that you use partsfor replacement from an authorizedKia dealer. If an aftermarket key isused, the ignition switch may not re‐turn to ON after START. If this hap‐pens, the starter will continue to op‐erate causing damage to the startermotor and possible fire due to ex‐cessive current in the wiring.
Immobilizer system
Your vehicle may be equipped with an
electronic engine immobilizer system to
reduce the risk of unauthorized vehicle use.
Your immobilizer system is comprised
of a small transponder in the ignition
key and electronic devices inside the vehicle.
With the immobilizer system, whenever
the engine start/stop button is
changed to the ON position, it checks and determines and verifies if the igni‐
tion key is valid or not.
If the key is determined to be valid, the
engine will start.
If the key is determined to be invalid, the engine will not start.
