Use approved window washer
anti-freeze in system
To keep the water in the window wash‐er system from freezing, add an ap‐
proved window washer anti-freeze sol‐
ution in accordance with instructions on the container. Window washer anti-
freeze is available from an authorized
Kia dealer and most auto parts outlets. Do not use engine coolant or other
types of anti-freeze as these may
damage the paint finish.
Don't let your parking brake
freeze
Under some conditions your parking
brake can freeze in the engaged posi‐ tion. This is most likely to happen when
there is an accumulation of snow or ice
around or near the rear brakes or if the brakes are wet. If there is a risk the
parking brake may freeze, apply it only
temporarily while you put the shift lev‐ er in P (Automatic Transaxle / Dual
clutch transmission) or in first or re‐
verse gear (manual transaxle) and block
the rear wheels so the vehicle cannot roll. Then release the parking brake.
Don't let ice and snow
accumulate underneath
Under some conditions, snow and ice can build up under the fenders and in‐
terfere with the steering. When driving
in severe winter conditions where this may happen, you should periodically
check underneath the vehicle to be sure
the movement of the front wheels and the steering components is not ob‐
structed.
Carry emergency equipment
Depending on the severity of the
weather, you should carry appropriate emergency equipment. Some of the
items you may want to carry include
tire chains, tow straps or chains, flash‐ light, emergency flares, sand, shovel,
jumper cables, window scraper, gloves,
ground cloth, coveralls, blanket, etc.

IF THE ENGINE WILL NOT START
If engine doesn't turn over or
turns over slowly
1. Be sure the shift lever is in N (Neu‐tral) or P (Park) and the emergency
brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you
operate the starter, the battery is
discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. See instructions for L
Jump starting procedure
1. Make sure the booster battery is12-volt and that its negative termi‐ nal is grounded.
2. If the booster battery is in another vehicle, do not allow the vehicles
come in contact.
3. Turn off all unnecessary electrical loads.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the exact sequence shown in the illus‐
tration. First connect one end of a
jumper cable to the positive termi‐
nal of the discharged battery (1),
then connect the other end to the
positive terminal on the booster
battery (2).
Proceed to connect one end of the other jumper cable to the negative
terminal of the booster battery (3),
then the other end to a solid, sta‐
tionary, metallic point (for example,
the engine lifting bracket) away
from the battery (4). Do not con‐
nect it to or near any part that
moves when the engine is cranked.
Do not allow the jumper cables to
contact anything except the correct
battery terminals or the correct
ground. Do not lean over the bat‐ tery when making connections.CAUTION
nBattery cables
Do not connect the jumper cablefrom the negative terminal of thebooster battery to the negative ter‐minal of the discharged battery. Thiscan cause the discharged battery tooverheat and crack, releasing bat‐tery acid.
5. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery and let it run
at 2,000 rpm, then start the engine
of the vehicle with the discharged
battery.
If the cause of your battery discharging is not apparent, we recommend that
the system be checked by an author‐
ized Kia dealer.
Push-starting
Your manual transaxle-equipped vehi‐
cle should not be push-started because it might damage the emission control
system.
Vehicles equipped with automatic
transaxle cannot be push-started.

IF THE ENGINE OVERHEATS
If your temperature gauge indicates
overheating, you will experience a loss of power, or hear loud pinging or knock‐
ing, the engine is probably too hot. If
this happens, you should: 1. Turn on the emergency warning flasher and stop in a safe place.
Move the shift lever to P (Park) and
engage the parking brake.
2. If hot steam does not come out from the engine room, carefullyopen the engine room and check
whether the water pump connector
is properly engaged. If the connec‐
tor is not properly engaged, stop
the engine immediately and prop‐
erly engage the connector. Then,
turn the engine on.
3. Turn on the air conditioner.

•Serious loss of coolant indicatesthere is a leak in the cooling sys‐tem and we recommend that thesystem be checked by an author‐ized Kia dealer.
•When the engine overheats fromlow engine coolant, suddenly add‐ing engine coolant may causecracks in the engine. To preventdamage, add engine coolant slowlyin small quantities.

Carbon monoxide poisoning and suf‐focation is possible if the engine isleft running in a poorly ventilated orunventilated location (such as insidea building).
Distributing the sealant
11. Immediately drive approximately7~10 km (4~6 miles or, about 10
min) to evenly distribute the seal‐
ant in the tire.
CAUTION
Do not exceed a speed of 80 km/h(50 mph). If possible, do not fall be‐low a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph).While driving, if you experience anyunusual vibration, ride disturbanceor noise, reduce your speed anddrive with caution until you cansafely pull off of the side of theroad. Call for road side service ortowing.

When you use the Tire Mobility Kit,the tire pressure sensors and wheelmay be stained by sealant. There‐fore, remove the tire pressure sen‐sors and wheel stained by sealantand we recommend to have it in‐spected by an authorized Kia dealer.

1. After driving approximately 7~10 km (4~6 miles, or about 10
minutes), stop at a suitable loca‐
tion. 2. Connect connection hose (10) of
the compressor directly to the tire
valve.
3. Connect between compressor and the vehicle battery using the cable
and connectors.
4. Adjust the tire inflation pressure to 200 kPa (29 psi). With the ignition
switched on, proceed as follows. -
To increase the inflation pres‐sure: Switch on the compressor,
position I. To check the current
inflation pressure setting, briefly switch off the compressor.
WARNING
Do not let the compressor run formore than 10 minutes, otherwisethe device will overheat and may bedamaged.
