Service interval display
The service interval display reminds you when
your next service is due .

The schedule for the next oil change or inspec­
tion is calculated automatically and displayed ac­
cordingly. The display works in two stages :
Service reminder
30 days before the next service is due, a service
reminder appears in the display when you turn on
the ignition
¢ fig. 13.
After about 5 seconds the display switches back
to normal. The distance and time remaining are
updated each time the ignition is turned on until
the date due for service is reached.
Service due
When the due date for service is reached, the
message
Service due! appears in the instrument
cluster immediately after you turn on the igni­
tion . Additionally, a warning tone sounds. After
about
5 seconds the display switches back to nor­
mal.
Calling up the service schedules
If or when an oil change or inspection is due, can
be shown in the radio or MMI* display by select­
ing the service interval display in the car menu.
Select
I CARI function button > Service interval

control button > Servicing & checks > Service in­
tervals .
Resetting the service interval display
Your authorized Audi dealer will reset the corre­
sponding service schedule after performing the

appropriate service on your vehicle. You also have
the possibility to reset the oil change schedule after having performed an oil change according
to Audi specifications. Select

(D Note
- Only reset the oil change display when you
have completed an oil change.
- If you disconnect the battery terminals, no
calculations can be made for the service in­
terval display during this time and no serv­
ice reminder will appear. Remember that
observing the proper service intervals is vi­
tally important to extending the life of your
vehicle, particularly the engine, and main­
taining its value. Do not exceed the time in­
terval for the next service, even if the vehi­ cle mileage is low.
@ Tips
The information in the Service Reminder re­
mains stored even when the vehicle battery is
disconnected.
On-board computer
Introduction
The trip computer gives you information on cur­
rent and average fuel mileage, average speed ,
fuel range and driving time .

Driver information system
The following information is continuously evalu­
ated by the trip computer and can be displayed
sequent ially in the instrument cluster display:
Fuel range
The estimat ed cruising range in miles (km) ap­
pears in the disp lay. Thi s tells you how far your
vehicle wi ll be able to t ravel on the current tank
of fuel and with the same driving style. The dis­
play changes in increments of 5 miles (10 km) .
Average fuel mileage
The average f uel economy in MPG (l/100 km)
since you last cleared the memory appears in this
display . You can use this display to adjust your
driving technique to achieve a desired mileage.
Current fuel mileage
The instantaneo us fue l cons umption in miles per
ga llon (l/100 km) is shown in this display. You
can use th is disp lay to adjust your driv ing techn i­
que to achieve a desired mi leage.
Fuel consumption is recalculated at intervals of
33 ya rds (30 meters).
Average speed
The average speed in mph (km/h) since the last
time the display was reset appears in the disp lay.
Elapsed time
The length of time that you have been driving
since you last reset the memory appears in this
disp lay.
Distance
The distance that has been covered since the last
time the memory was cleared appears in the dis­
play.
@ Tips
- Fuel consumptions (average and current),
range and speed are displayed in metric
units on Canadian models.
- All stored val ues w ill be lost if the vehicle
battery is disconnected.

Memories
The trip computer is equipped with two fully au­
tomatic memories as well as an efficiency pro­
gram*.

You can switch between the trip computer 1 and
2 and the efficiency program * by pressing the
IRESET I button@<=>page 21, fig. 16 .
You can tell which memory level is currently ac­
tive by the number or the sign in the display

Single-trip memory (Trip computer 1)
The single-trip memory stores the trip informa­
tion from the time the ignition is turned on until
it is turned off . If the trip is continued
within 2
hours
from the time the ignition was turned off,
the new data will be included in the calculation of
the current trip information. If the trip is inter­
rupted for
more than 2 hours the memo ry is re­
set automatically .
Total-trip memory (Trip computer 2)
Unlike the single-trip memory, the total-tr ip
memory is not reset automatically . This permits
you to eva luate your dr iv ing data for the enti re
period between manua l resets.

If the . symbo l in the instr um ent panel display
flashes, then the re is a malfunction in the alter­
nator or the vehicle electronics . A warning to the
driver will appear, too . The driver warning goes
out after about 5 seconds, but it can be brought
up at any t ime by pressing the
!SET ! button aga in.
Usually, you can still drive to the next dea lership .
T urn off all but the most necessary e lectrica l con­
sumers, since these drain the vehicle's battery.
(D Note
If the . warning symbo l (coolant system
malfunction) also lights up on the instrument
panel during the trip

have to stop immediately and turn off the en­
gine. The coolant pump is not working any­
more -danger of damage to the engine!
BRAKE/C(D) Brake system malfunction
A ma/function in the brake system must be re­
paired as soon as possible .
If the warning/indicator light 11111 (USA mod­
els) . (Canada models) in the instrument clus­
ter flashes, there is a brake system malfunction.
A driver message appears as well to explain the
malfu nction in more detail. The driver wa rning
goes out after about 5 seconds, but it can be
brought up at any time by pressing the
ISETI but-

If there is a malfunct ion in the electronic ignition
lock, the ignition cannot be turned
off . Drive im­
mediately to an authorized service facility to have
the cause of the malfunction corrected.
O n ve hicles with Convenience key* , the eng ine
should not be switched
off using the Start/Stop
button because the engine cannot be started
again after the ignition has been switched
off.

cle.

I f this drive r notific ation appea rs after the igni­
tion is turned on or while driv ing and does not go
out again, the battery's state of charge is not in
the optimal range. Starting capability is restrict­
ed. Have the battery checked at an a uthori zed
Audi dealer or other qualified workshop as soon
as possib le.

provides information about different condit io ns.
• The check light comes on b riefly once when a
button is pressed, and during an "i nq ui ry" by
the conven ience key system .
• If the check light does not come on, the battery
is dead and has to be replaced. In addition,
when the batt ery is dead the

• Pull the mechanica l key out of the master key

battery holder and at the same time pull the
battery holder out of the master key in the di­

• Install the new battery CR 2032 with the "+"
s ign facing down .
• Pu sh the battery holder carefully into the mas ­
ter key.

Dispose of dead bat teries properly so as not

Emergency unlocking of the ign ition key
In the event of malfunctions in the electrical sys­
tem, it may happen that you cannot remove the
ignition key.

If you are unable to remove the ignition key, for
examp le because the vehicle battery is dis­
charged, proceed as follows:

Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer helps to prevent unauthorized
use of your vehicle.
Inside the key there is a computer chip. This chip
automatically deactivates the electronic immo­
b ilizer when you insert the key in the ignition
lock . When you remove the key from the ignition
lock, the electronic immobilizer is automatically
activated once aga in .
(D Tips
- The vehicle cannot be started if an unau­
thorized key is used. The vehicle may not
start if another radio device such as a key
for another vehicle or a transponder is lo­
cated on the key ring.

Opening and closing
Central locking
General description
The power locking system locks or unlocks all
doors and the rear lid simultaneously.
You can lock and unlock the vehicle centrally. You have the following choices:
- Remote master key

- Door hand les with Convenience key*

-Lock cylinder at the driver's door ¢ page 38,
or
- Power locking switch inside
¢ page 39 .
Selective unlocking
When you lock the vehicle, the power locking sys ­
tem will lock the doors and the rear lid. When
unlocking, you can set in the radio or in the MMI*
whether
only the driver's door or the entire vehi­
cle should be unlocked
r::!;) page 36 .
Automatic locking
The automatic locking feature locks all the vehi ­
cle doors and the rear lid when you drive faster
than
9 mph (15 km/h).
The car is unlocked again once the ignition key is
removed . In addition, the vehicle can be unlocked
if the opening funct ion in the power locking sys­
tem switch or at one of the door levers is actuat­
ed .
Additionally, in the event of a crash with airbag
deployment the doors are automatica lly un­
locked to allow access to the vehicle.
Anti-theft alarm warning system
If the anti-theft alarm warning system detects a
break-in into the veh icle, acoustic and visual
warning signals are triggered.
The anti-theft warning system is activated auto­
matically when you lock the vehicle . It is deacti­
vated when unlock ing using the
remote key, with
the
mechanical key , and when you switch on the
ignition .
The alarm also turns off when the alarm cycle has exp ired.
