7-2. Maintenance
General maintenance should be performed on a daily basis. This can
be done by yourself or by a Toyota dealer.
Scheduled maintenance should be performed at specified intervals
according to the maintenance schedule.
For details about maintenance items and schedules, refer to the “Sched-
uled Maintenance Guide” or “Owner’s Manual Supplement”.
You can perform some maintenance procedures by yourself.
Please be aware that do-it-yourself maintenance may affect warranty
coverage.
The use of Toyota Repair Manuals is recommended.
For details about warranty coverage, refer to the separate “Owner’s War-
ranty Information Booklet” or “Owner’s Manual Supplement”.
Maintenance requirements
To ensure safe and economical driv ing, day-to-day care and reg-
ular maintenance are essential. It is the owner’s responsibility to
perform regular checks. Toyota recommends the following main-
tenance:

nRepair and replacement
It is recommended that genuine Toyota parts be used for repairs to ensure
performance of each system. If non-Toyota parts are used in replacement or if
a repair shop other than a Toyota dealer performs repairs, confirm the war-
ranty coverage.
n Resetting the message indicating maintenance is required (U.S.A. only)
After the required maintenance is performed according to the maintenance
schedule, please reset the message.
To reset the message, follow the procedure described below:
 Using the trip meter
Turn the power switch off with the trip meter A reading shown.
While pressing the trip meter reset button ( P. 89), turn the power switch
to the ON mode (do not start the hybrid system because otherwise the
reset mode will be canceled).
Continue to press and hold the button until the trip meter displays “000000”.
Using the multi-information display
While the hybrid system is operating, switch the multi-information display to
the “Settings” screen. ( P. 88)
Select “Maintenance Reset” on the “Settings” screen.
Select “Yes” on the “Maintenance Reset” screen.
“Maintenance Reset Complete” will be displayed on the multi-information dis-
play when the reset procedure has been completed.
n Allow inspection and repairs to be performed by a Toyota dealer
lToyota technicians are well-trained specialists and are kept up to date with
the latest service information. They are well informed about the operations
of all systems on your vehicle.
l Keep a copy of the repair order. It proves that the maintenance that has
been performed is under warranty cove rage. If any problem should arise
while your vehicle is under warranty, your Toyota dealer will promptly take
care of it.

Seat belts

nChecking interval
Inspect and replace the air conditioning filter according to the maintenance
schedule. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, early replacement
may be required. (For scheduled maintenance information, please refer to the
“Schedule maintenance guide” or “Owner’s Manual Supplement”.)
n If air flow from the vents decreases dramatically
The filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
NOTICE
nWhen using the ai r conditioning system
Make sure that a filter is always installed.
Using the air conditioning system without a filter may cause damage to the
system.

When trouble arises

Indicates that the washer fluid level is low
Add washer fluid.
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 2.6
gal. (9.7 L, 2.1 Imp. gal.) or less
Refuel the vehicle.
Indicates that the TRAC (Traction Control) sys-
tem has been deactivated
Turn the TRAC on. ( P. 219)
(U.S.A. only)
Indicates that all maintenance according to the
driven distance on the maintenance schedule*1
should be performed soon.
Comes on approximately 4500 miles (7200 km)
after the message has been reset.
If necessary, perform maintenance.
(U.S.A. only)
Indicates that all maintenance is required to cor-
respond to the driven distance on the mainte-
nance schedule*

(The indicator will not work properly unless the

nWarning message in dynamic radar cr uise control mode (if equipped)
In the following situations, the warning message may not be displayed even if
vehicle-to-vehicle distance decreases:
l When your vehicle and the vehicle ahead are traveling at the same speed or
the vehicle ahead is traveling more quickly than your vehicle
l When the vehicle ahead is traveling at a very low speed
l Immediately after cruise control speed is set
l At the instant the accelerator pedal is depressed
n The LDA (Lane Departure Alert) lane departure warning function (if
equipped)
In the following situations, a warning message will not be displayed even if a
lane line is crossed.
l When the vehicle speed deviates from the operating range of the LDA sys-
tem functions
l When the lane lines cannot be recognized
n
When a tire is replaced with the spare tire
The compact spare tire is not equipped with a tire pressure warning valve
and transmitter. If a tire goes flat, the tire pressure warning light will not
turn off even though the flat tire has been replaced with the spare tire.

matically canceled
