Inserting discs into the DVD changer
The DVD changer has a magazine with six
trays.
Before inserting a CD/DVD, ensure that the
cup holder is empty and the protective flap is
open.
Inserting a CD/DVD into the magazine
tray
XPress theVbutton.
The magazine menu appears.XTo select the magazine tray: turn and press the controller.
The DVD changer switches to the selected
magazine tray.
The Please Wait...
message appears.
You will then see the Please insert
disc 1.message, for example.
XInsert a disc into the disc slot with the prin-
ted side facing upwards.

Loading all empty magazine trays
XPress theVbutton.
The magazine menu appears.
XTo select Load Empty Slots: slide6,
turn and press the controller.
COMAND switches to the next empty mag-
azine tray.
The Please Wait...
message appears.
You will then see the Please insert
disc 1.message, for example.
XInsert a disc into the disc slot with the prin-
ted side facing upwards.
Once the disc is loaded, the DVD changer
switches to the next empty tray.
XRepeat these steps until all magazine trays
are filled.
The DVD changer plays the last inserted
disc.
XTo cancel the loading process: press the
V button.
or
XTo select %in the magazine menu: turn
and press the controller.
Ejecting discs from the DVD changer
If you remove one disc while playing another
disc, the DVD changer interrupts playback.
Playback continues once the disc has been
ejected. Before removing a disc, be aware
that the CD/DVD can become hot. Ejecting a single disc
XPress the
Vbutton.
The magazine menu appears. The current
disc is marked.

Inserting and ejecting an SD memory
card

SD memory cards are small parts. They can be
swallowed and caus easphyxiation .This

Inserting an SD memory card
XInsert the SDmemory card into the SDcard
slot unt il itengages. The side with the con-
tacts must face downwards.
Only if the memory card has been selected
as a med iasource, is the medium played
and the files loaded inthe background. If
there are no supported audio or videofile s,
you willsee a message to th iseffect.
XSe lect the med iasource (Ypage 210).

XPress the memory car d.
The memory card is ejecte d.
XRemove the memory card.
Connecting USB devices
There are two USB ports located inthe stow-
age compartment inthe center console.
XConnect the USB device to the USB port.
The data medium willonly be played and
the files willonly be loadedinthe back-
ground ifthe corresponding med iadisplay
is vis ible. Otherwise, the system does not
automatical lyswitch to USB. Ifthere are no
supported audio or video files, you willsee
a message to th iseffect.
XSe lect the med iasource (Ypage 210).
iMP3 players must support Media Transfer
Protocol (MTP).

audio, video or image files to the COMAND
hard drive.

Managing Media Register
XTo select Manage Media Register: press
the controller. The contents are shown. Using the control-
ler, files and folders can be renamed or
deleted.
An input window appears when renaming.
The characters are entered using the con-
troller (
Ypage 38).

Delete All Media Files: turn
and press the controller.
Files and folders can be completely deleted
from the Media Register.
XSelect Memory Info: important parame-
ters for your COMAND hard drive are

Starting an application at a different seat
The media source can be played back at a

Showing track information
Ticking or removing the tick from the box in
front of Show Track Information
displays
or hides the information on the track, artist
and album in the main display field.

Selecting using the current track list

Selecting by skipping to a track

the media basic display.
Selecting a track using the number key-
pad
XPress the ¯key on the number keypad.
A numerical entry field appears. The num-
ber of positions offered corresponds to the
number of tracks in the current track list.
Only numbers that correspond to a track
number in the current track list can be
entered.
XTo enter the track number using the num-
ber keys: briefly press the desired numbers
on the number keypad.
The track plays after the last possible num-
ber is entered.
iPressing and holding a number key for
more than two seconds completes the
entry, and the corresponding track is
played.
Search menu

XTo select Search: turn and press the con-
troller.
The category list is shown.
XSelect a category, e.g. Genres.
Sub-categories appear with the selection of
the main category (depends on the
COMAND default settings and the music
tracks available).

Gracenote®Media Database
General notes
This function is available in audio CD mode.
There is a version of
Gracenote
®music recognition technology,
Emeryville, California, USA on the COMAND
hard disk. You will recognize this by the logo

in the bottom right-hand corner of certain
audio displays.
If the audio CD does not contain any CD text
information, COMAND can use the Grace-
note
®Media Database to identify unknown
audio tracks when in audio CD mode.
Internet update of metadata
The option Update metadata via Internet
allows any missing metadata for an audio CD
(e.g. cover, track, album, artist) to be uploa-
ded retrospectively to the internal Grace-
note
®database.
An Internet connection is required for this

Ypage 181).

XSelect Updating Metadata Via Inter‐
netin the selection list.
A connection with the Gracenote®data
server is established. The missing data is
loaded, saved and displayed in the main
display field.
If there is no data found or there is no Inter-
net connection, a corresponding error mes-
sage will appear.
Switching the Gracenote®data display
on/off
XSwitch on audio CD mode (Ypage 214).
XTo select Gracenote Media Database:
turn and press the controller.
XTo switch the display off: select None.

Keywords that have already been searched
for are displayed in the "Search history"

Media Register
General notes
You can store music files, photos or video files
in the MEDIA REGISTER. The memory has a
capacity of 10.8 GB.
iKeep your original music files, photos and
video files in a secure location. A malfunc-
tion in COMAND may result in the loss of
music files stored in the MEDIA REGISTER. Mercedes-Benz is not liable for any loss of
data.
