Charge warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON, and
goes off after the engine has started.

Oil pressure warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON, and
the lamp goes off after the engine has started. If it illuminates while the engine is running, the oil pressure is too low.
If the warning lamp illuminates while the engine is running, turn the engine off and have it inspected.
NOTE: The oil pressure warning lamp should not be treated as an indication of the engine’s oil level. The oil level
must be checked using the dipstick.

Door-ajar warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when a door is either open or not completely closed.
If the vehicle speed reaches approximately 8 km/h with a door open or incompletely closed, a buzzer sounds
4 times as a warning.

SRS warning lamp
There is a supplemental restraint system (“SRS”) warning lamp on the instrument panel. The system checks itself
every time the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON. The SRS warning
lamp will come on for several seconds and then go out. This is normal and means the system is working properly.
If there is a problem involving one or more of the SRS components, the warning lamp will come on and stay on.
The SRS warning lamp is shared by the SRS airbag and the seat belt pre-tensioner system.

using the approved anchorage points
shown and install the child restraint
fitting package.
Anchorage locations
Two child restraint anchorage points are
built into the vehicle and are located on
the vertical panel behind the rear
seatback.

Tether anchor strap installation

1 — Remove the head restraint from
the location in which you wish to install
a child restraint.
2 — Drop the child restraint’s tether
strap (A) down the back of the rear
seatback.
3 — Tip the armrest forward. Open the
fastener (B) that’s located in the space
where the armrest was stowed.4 — Open the inner cover.
5 — Put your hand in the opening of
the fastener, attach the tether strap’s
hook (C) to the tether anchorage (D),
and securely tighten the tether strap.

Installing a child
restraint system to the
lower anchorage

Your vehicle’s rear seat is fitted with
lower anchorages for attaching a child
restraint system with ISOFIX mountings.
Child restraint systems

The child restraint system is designed
only for seats that incorporate lower
anchorages. Retain the child restraint
system using the lower anchorages.
It is not necessary to retain the child
restraint system using the vehicle’s seat
belts.
A. Child restraint system connectors
To install
1. Remove any foreign material in or
around the connectors and ensure the
vehicle seat belt is in its normal storage
position.
2. Remove the head restraint from the
location in which you wish to install a
child restraint. Refer to “Head
restraints”.3. Open the gap a little between the
seat cushion (A) and the seatback (B)
with your hand to locate the lower
anchorages (C).
4. Push the child restraint system’s
connectors (D) into the lower
anchorages (C) in accordance with the
instructions provided by the child
restraint system’s manufacturer.

If your child restraint system requires
the use of a tether strap, fasten the
tether strap in accordance with step 5.
5. Latch the top tether strap hook (E) of
the child restraint system to the tether

Driver’s and front passenger’s
airbag system
The driver’s airbag is located under the
padded cover in the middle of the
steering wheel. The front passenger’s
airbag is contained in the instrument
panel above the glove box.
The driver’s airbag inflates at two
different rates according to the severity
of the impact (if so equipped).
The driver’s airbag and the front
passenger’s airbag are designed toinflate at the same time even if the
passenger seat is not occupied.
Driver’s knee airbag system*
The driver’s knee airbag is located
under the steering wheel. The driver’s
knee airbag is designed to deploy at the

Keyless operation key reminder
If the operation mode is in OFF and the
driver’s door is opened with the keyless
operation key in the key slot, the
warning lamp will blink and the outer
buzzer sounds for approximately
3 seconds and the inner buzzer sounds
for approximately 1 minute to remind
you to remove the key.
WARNING
203)Never run the engine in a closed or
poorly ventilated area any longer than is
needed to move your vehicle in or out of
the area. Carbon monoxide gases are
odourless and can be fatal.204)Do not operate the engine switch
while driving except in an emergency. If the
engine is stopped while driving, the brake
servomechanism will cease to function and
braking efficiency will deteriorate. Also, the
power steering system will not function and
it will require greater manual effort to
operate the steering. This could result in a
serious accident.
IMPORTANT
79)Release the ignition key as soon as the
engine starts to avoid damaging the starter
motor.
80)Never attempt to start the engine by
pushing or pulling the vehicle.
81)Do not run the engine at high rpm or
drive the vehicle at high speed until the
engine has had a chance to warm up.

turbocharger, do not stop the engine
immediately after high-speed or uphill
driving. First allow the engine to idle to give
the turbocharger a chance to cool down.
83)It is advisable not to demand maximum
performance from your vehicle (e.g.
excessive acceleration, long distances at
high speeds, excessively intense braking,
etc.) during the initial period of use.
84)A quick burst on the accelerator before
turning off the engine serves absolutely no

engines.

The turbocharger increases engine
power by pushing large amounts of air
into the engine’s cylinders. The finned
parts inside the turbocharger turn at
extremely high speeds and are
subjected to extremely high
temperatures. They are lubricated and
cooled by engine oil. If the engine oil is
not replaced at the specified intervals,
the bearings may seize or emit
abnormal noise.

IF THE VEHICLE
BREAKS DOWN
If the vehicle breaks down on the road,
move it to the shoulder and use the
hazard warning flashers and/or the
warning triangle etc. Refer to “Hazard
warning flasher switch”.
If the engine stops/fails
Vehicle operation and control are
affected if the engine stops. Before
moving the vehicle to a safe area, be
aware of the following:
The brake booster becomes
inoperative and the pedal effort will
increase. Press down the brake pedal
harder than usual.
Since the power steering system is
no longer operative, the steering wheel
feels heavy when turning it.

If the engine cannot be started because
the battery is weak or dead, the battery
from another vehicle can be used with
jumper cables to start the engine.
1. Get the vehicles close enough so the
jumper cables can reach, but be sure
the vehicles aren’t touching each other.
2. Turn off all lamps, heater and other
electrical loads.
3. Set the parking brake firmly on each
vehicle. Put an automatic transmission
in “P” (PARK) or a manual transmission
in “N” (Neutral). Stop the engine.
4. Make sure battery electrolyte is at the
proper level. Refer to “Battery”.
5. Connect one end of one jumper
cable (1) to the positive (+) terminal of
the discharged battery (A), and the
other end (2) to the positive (+) terminal
of the booster battery (B).
Connect one end of the other jumper
cable (3) to the negative (−) terminal of
the booster battery (B), and the other
end (4) to the engine block of the
vehicle with the discharged battery at
the point farthest from the battery.
NOTE Open the terminal cover before
connecting the jumper cable to the
positive (+) terminal of the battery. Refer

ENGINE
OVERHEATING
When the engine is overheating,will
blink. If this occurs, take the following
corrective measures:
1. Stop the vehicle in a safe place.
2. Check whether steam is coming from
the engine compartment.
If steam does not come from the engine
compartment: with the engine still
running, raise the bonnet to ventilate
the engine compartment.
If steam is coming from the engine
compartment: stop the engine, and
when the steam stops, raise the bonnet
to ventilate the engine compartment.
Restart the engine.

3. Confirm that the cooling fan (B) is
turning.
If the cooling fan is turning: after the
high coolant temperature warning has
gone off, stop the engine
If the cooling fan is not turning: stop the
engine immediately and contact a Fiat

4. Check the coolant level in the reserve
tank (C).
5. Add coolant to the radiator and/or
reserve tank if necessary (refer to the
“Maintenance” section).

coolant leakage and the drive belt for
looseness or damage.
If there is anything wrong with the
cooling system or drive belt, have the
problem corrected at a Fiat Dealership.
WARNING
248)Do not open the bonnet while steam
is coming from the engine compartment. It
could cause steam or hot water to spurt
out, causing burns. Hot water could spurt
out even when there is no steam coming
out, and some parts will be very hot. Be
very careful when opening the bonnet.
249)Be careful of hot steam, which could
be blowing off the reserve tank cap.
250)Do not attempt to remove the radiator
cap while the engine is hot.
251)Be careful not to get your hands or
clothes caught in the cooling fan.
252)Make sure that the engine has cooled
down before removing the radiator cap (A),
because hot steam or boiling water
otherwise will gush from the filler port and

hot. Suddenly adding cold coolant could
damage the engine. Wait for the engine to
cool down, then add coolant a little at a
time.
BLEEDING THE FUEL
SYSTEM
The fuel system should be bled to
remove air as described below if the
fuel supply is exhausted during travel.
Pump the hand pump (A) at the top of
the fuel filter until the hand pump
becomes stiff.
Then try again to start the engine. If the
engine does not start, repeat the
process above.

WARNING
253)Do not smoke or have any other open
flame near the vehicle while bleeding the
fuel system.
254)Be sure to carefully clean away any
spilt fuel which could ignite and cause a
fire.
REMOVAL OF WATER
FROM THE FUEL
FILTER
If the fuel filter indicator lamp in the
instrument panel illuminates during
driving, it indicates that water has
accumulated in the fuel filter. If this
occurs, remove the water as described
below.
1. Loosen the drain plug (A) of the fuel
filter.
2. Operate the hand pump (B) slowly
6 or 7 times in order to force the water
out through the drain plug (A).
