WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES
The EVIC display consists of three sections:
1. The reconfigurable top line where compass, direction, and outside temperature are displayed.
• Right side default to Ignition Status for those with
push button ignition.
2. The main display area where the menus and pop up messages are displayed.
3. The reconfigurable telltales section.
The main display area will normally display the main
menu or the screens of a selected feature of the main
menu. The main display area also displays pop up
messages that consist of approximately 60 possible warn-
ing or information messages. These pop up messages fall
into several categories:
• Five Second Stored Messages
When the appropriate conditions occur, this type of
message takes control of the main display area for five seconds and then returns to the previous screen. Most of
the messages of this type are then stored (as long as the
condition that activated it remains active) and can be
reviewed from the
Messagesmain menu item. As long
as there is a stored message, an iwill be displayed in the
compass/outside temp line. Examples of this message
type are Right Front Turn Signal Lamp Out andLow
Tire Pressure.
• Unstored Messages
This message type is displayed indefinitely or until the
condition that activated the message is cleared. Examples
of this message type are Turn Signal On(if a turn signal
is left on) and Lights On(if driver leaves the vehicle).
• Unstored Messages Until RUN
These messages deal primarily with the Remote Start
feature. This message type is displayed until the ignition
is in the MAR/RUN state. Examples of this message type
are Remote Start Aborted - Door Ajar andPress Brake
Pedal and Push Button to Start.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) Failure•What Does It Mean
The simultaneous firing of BRAKE lights
(Red) and
(Amber) with the engine
running indicates a failure of the Elec-
tronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
system or that the system is not available.
In this case, with heavy braking, the rear
wheels may lock early and increase the
possibility of skidding.
The dedicated message will appear on the
display.
• What To Do
Drive with extreme caution, immediately
reach the nearest authorized dealer for the verifica-
tion of the system. Air Bag
•What Does It Mean
By placing the ignition switch in MAR/
RUN, the indicator light illuminates but
should go out after a few seconds. If the
indicator illuminates, this indicates a fail-
ure of the air bag system.
The dedicated message shows in the display.
For more details, refer to Occupant Restraint Sys-
tems inSafety for more information.

NOTE:
•If the Air Bag Warning Light
does not illuminate
when placing the ignition in MAR/RUN, or stays
on during MAR/RUN (together with the message
displayed), it is possible that there is a fault in
restraint systems. In this case, the air bag or the
pretensioners might not deploy in the event of an
accident or, in a more limited number of cases,
deploy incorrectly. Before continuing, please contact
an authorized dealer for the immediate service of
the system.
• The failure of the Air Bag Warning Lightis de-
clared by the illumination of the icon
in the
instrument cluster display. In this case, the Air Bag
Warning Light may not report any anomalies of the
restraint systems. Before continuing, please contact
your authorized dealer for the immediate service of
the system.
Seat Belt Reminder
•What Does It Mean
The light comes on as a steady light with
the car stopped as a seat belt reminder.
• What To Do
For the permanent deactivation of the horn
(buzzer) system S. B. R. (Seat Belt Re-
minder), contact your authorized dealer. It is possible
to reactivate the system through the Setup Menu.
Engine Temperature Warning •What Does It Mean
By placing the ignition in MAR/RUN po-
sition, the indicator light illuminates but
should go out after a few seconds.
The indicator light (or on some vehicles the
icon on the display) illuminates when the engine is
overheated. The dedicated message shows in the

•What To Do
In the case of normal gear: stop the car, shut off the
engine, and check that the level of coolant inside the
tank is not below the minimum (MIN). In this case,
wait for the engine to cool, then slowly and carefully
open the cap, fill with coolant, make sure it is
between the MIN and MAX marks. Also, check for
coolant leaks. If at the next start-up, the light (or the
icon on the display) would once again illuminate,
contact an authorized dealer.
In the case of heavy use of the car (e.g. In terms of
performance): slow down and, if the light stays on,
stop the car. For two or three minutes, keep the
engine running and slightly accelerate to help the
flow of coolant in the system. Then, turn the engine
off. Check for the correct level of coolant as described
above. Electric Park Brake Failure
•What Does It Mean
By placing the ignition in the MAR/RUN
position, the light (If Equipped) will illumi-
nate but should go out after a few seconds.
The light comes on when it detects a failure
in Electric Parking Brake.
The display shows the dedicated message.
• What To Do
Please contact your authorized dealer as soon as
possible.
NOTE: In this case, with heavy braking, the rear wheels
may lock early and increase the possibility of skidding.

Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) System Failure•What Does It Mean
By placing the ignition in the MAR/RUN
position, the indicator light illuminates but
should go out after a few seconds.
The light will remain on until the ABS
condition has been corrected. If the prob-
lem is related to the brake booster, the ABS
pump will run when applying the brake, and a brake
pedal pulsation may be felt during each stop.
The display shows the dedicated message.
• What To Do
Please contact your authorized dealer as soon as
possible. TPMS Failure
•What Does It Mean
Each tire, including the spare (if provided),
should be checked monthly when cold and
inflated to the inflation pressure recom-
mended by the vehicle manufacturer on the
vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure
label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different
size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or
tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the
proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.)
As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been
equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale
when one or more of your tires is significantly
under-inflated. Accordingly, when the low tire pres-
sure telltale illuminates, you should stop and check
your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the

ESC System Disabled•What Does It Mean
By placing the ignition in the MAR/RUN
position, the indicator light illuminates, but
should go out as soon as the engine is
started.
The warning light will come on to indicate
the safety systems have been partially or
totally disabled. For more information of the system,
refer to Electronic Stability Control (ESC) in the
Safety section.
By reactivating the ESC system, the light goes out.
Engine Malfunction •What Does It Mean
The light is an integral part of the diagnos-
tic system of the vehicle, called OBD II. This system monitors the performance of the emis-
sions, engine, and automatic transmission control
systems.
The light comes on briefly (as a bulb check) when the
ignition is turned to the MAR/RUN. If the light does
not illuminate, it means that there is a failure.
In some conditions, such as the poor quality of the
fuel, the light may come on only after starting the
engine.
•
What To Do
Under these conditions, you can continue driving.
Avoid heavy efforts to the engine or high speeds. The
prolonged use of the car with the light illuminated
can cause damage to the engine.
Please contact your authorized dealer as soon as
possible.
