0 Alternator malfunction
If the . symbo l in the instr ument pane l display
flashes, then there is a ma lfunction in the alter­
nator or the vehicle elect ronics . A warning to the
driver will appear, too . The driver warn ing goes
out after about 5 seconds, but it can be brought up at any t ime by pressing the
!SET ! button aga in.
U sua lly, yo u can sti ll drive to the next dea lership.
Turn off all but the most necessary e lectr ica l con­
s u mers, since these drain the vehicle's battery.

BRAKE/C(D) Brake system malfunction
A malfunction in the brake system must be re­
paired as soon as possible.
If the warning /ind icator light 1111 (USA mod ­
els) . (Canada models) in the instrument clus­
ter flashes, there is a brake system ma lfunction.

~ Drive immediate ly to an authorized Audi dealer
to have the malfunction corrected .
If there is a malfunction in the electronic ignition
lock, the ignition cannot be turned off . Drive im­
mediately to an authorized service facility to have
the cause of the malfunction corrected.
On vehicles with Convenience key*, the engine
should not be switched off using the Start/Stop button because the engine cannot be started
again after the ignition has been switched off.

Selective catalytic reduction (AdBlue)
General information
Applies to vehicles: with selective catalyt ic reduction
In vehicles with se lective cata lytic reduction, a
urea solution (Ad B lue) is injected into the ex ­
haust system before a nitrogen ox ide catalytic
converter to reduce nitrogen emissions.
The AdBlue is carried in a separate tank in the ve­
hicle. The Ad Blue usage accounts for approxi­
mately 0.5% to 2.5% of the diesel fuel that is
used.
When a message about refilling the Ad B lue ap­
pears in the instr ument cluster disp lay, you must
refill the Ad Blue yourself or have it refilled by an
author ized Audi dealer or author ized Audi Service
Facility

Filling AdBlue

The Ad Blue tank opening is located near the die­
sel tank opening. Add at least 1 gallon (3.8 lit­
ers) of Ad Blue. This is the minimum amount re­
quired to ensure the system detects the refilling
and to start the engine. You can fill a maximum
of 6 gallons (23 liters).
Requirement: The request to add Ad Blue must
appear in the instrument cluster display.
• Switch the ignition off.
• Open the tank door

A WARNING
AdBlue can irr itate the skin, eyes and resp ira­
tory system. If there is contact with the fluid,
flush immediately with plenty of water. Con­ sult a physician if necessary.
CD Note
- Only use Ad Blue that conforms to the
standard ISO 22241-1. Do not mix any addi­
tives w ith the AdBl ue and do not d ilute it
wi th water.
- Do not add Ad Blue to the diesel ta nk or add
diesel f uel to the AdBlue tan k. Do not start
the engine under any circumstances if the
wrong fue l is filled in the tank. There is a
risk of damaging the fuel tank system and

the engine . See an authorized Audi dea le r or
authorized Audi Service Facility for assis­
tance.
- Ad Blue attacks surfaces such as painted ve­
hicle components, p lastic and carpet. Re­
move the fluid as quickly as possible with a
damp cloth and plenty of cold water. If the
AdBlue has a lready crystall ized, use warm
water and a sponge. Ad Blue residue that is
not removed w ill crystall ize and can damage
t he affected s urface.
- Do not store refill bottles or canisters per­
manently in the vehicle. If the container
leaks, the escaping Ad Blue could damage
the vehicle inte rior.
- Do not allow Ad Blue to come into contact
with cloth ing. If t here is contac t w ith the
fluid, flush immediately wi th plenty of wa­
ter.

Bulbs
Replacing light bulbs
For your safety, we recommend that you have
your authorized Audi dealer replace burned out bulbs for you.
It is becoming increasingly more and more diffi­
cult to replace vehicle light bulbs since in many
cases, other parts of the car must first be re ­
moved before you are able to get to the bu lb.
This applies espec ially to the light bulbs in the
front of your ca r wh ich you can only reach
through the eng ine compartment.

Sheet meta l and bu lb holders can have sharp
edges that can cause serious cuts, and parts
must be correctly taken apart and then properly
put back together to help prevent breakage of
parts and long term damage from water that can
enter housings that have not been properly re­
sealed.
For your safety, we recommend that you have
your authorized Audi dealer replace any bulbs for
you, since your dealer has the proper tools, the correct bulbs and the expertise.
Ga s d ischar ge lam ps (Xeno n light s)*:
Due to the high e lectrica l voltage, have the bulbs
rep laced by a qualified technician. Headlights
with Xenon light can be identified by the h igh
voltage sticker.
A WARNING
-
Contact with high-voltage components of the
electr ical system and improper replacement
of gas discharge (Xenon) headlight bulbs can
cause ser ious persona l injury and death .
- Xenon bulbs are pressur ized and can ex­
plode when being changed .
- Changing Xenon lamps requires the special
tra ining, instruct ions and equ ipment .
- Only an authorized Audi dealer or other
qualified workshop should change the bulbs
in gas discharge lamps .
A WARNING
There are parts with sharp edges on the open­
ings and on the bulb ho lders that can cause
serious cuts.
- If you are uncertain about what to do, have
the wor k performed by an authorized Audi
dea ler or other qual ified workshop. Ser ious
personal injury may resu lt from improperly
performed work .

-If you must replace the light bulbs you rself,
always remember that the eng ine compart­
ment of any vehicle is a hazardous area to
