.,. To tilt the sunroof, press the switch briefly.
• To close the sunroof, pu ll the switch briefly .
• To set an intermediate pos it ion, press/pull the
switch unti l the roof reaches the des ired posi­
t ion.
After the ign ition is switched off, you can still op·
erate the sunroof for about 10 minutes . As soon
as the d river's or passenge r's door is opened, the
sw itch is inoper ative.
Sun blind
The sun blind can be opened and closed manually in any position .
A WARNING
Pay carefu l attent ion when closing the sun·
roof· otherwise serious injury co uld result!
For this reason, always remove the ign ition
key when leaving the vehicle.

Always close your sunroof when leaving yo ur
veh icle. S udden ra in can cause damage to the
interio r equipmen t of your vehicle, particular­
ly the elec tronic equipmen t.

Emergency closing of the panoramic tilting
sunroof
If the sunroof detects an object in i ts path when
it is closing, it will open again automatically. In
this case, you can close the roof with the power
emergency closing function .
• Within five seconds a fter the sunroof opens au­
tomatically, pu ll the sw itch until the roof
closes .
Valet parking
Applies to vehicles: with valet parking function
The valet parking feature protects the luggage
compartment from unauthorized access.

You can switch the "valet pa rking func tion " on
whe n someo ne else is parking your veh icle. When
the f unction is switc hed on, the vehicle can be
dr iven, locked and unlocked using the master
key, but access to the luggage compartment is
not permitted.
• Take the mechanical key o ut of the master key

• Open the glove compartment c::> page 61 .
• Activate c::> fig. 32 the "va let parking" feature by
press ing the
IVA LE T ! button. The ind icator light
in the switch illum inates.
• Close the glove compartment and lock it with

Garage door opener

You can activate var ious systems such as garage
doors, security systems and home light ing from
inside your vehicle using the garage door opener
(Homelink) . There are three buttons for this in
the vehicle headliner that can be in used in p lace
of up to three hand-held transmitters.
To operate systems using the garage door open­ er , the three buttons in the roof head liner must
be programmed first .
A WARNING
Make sure no people or objects are in the im­
mediate v icin ity of the equipment when using
or programming the garage door opener. Peo­
ple can be injured and objects can be dam­
aged if they are caught in the equipment.

adaptive light*
When switched on , adap tive ligh t ad apts to
curves in the roa d depending on the vehicle
speed and the steering ang le. Th is prov ides bet­
ter light ing th rough the curve. The system oper­
ates at speeds between approximately 6 mph (10 km/h) and 68 mph (110 km/h).
Static cornering light* (veh icles with adaptive
li ght) -the corne ring light switches on at speeds
up to approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) when a
ce rtain steering wheel angle is reached or when a
turn signal is act ivated . The area to the side of
the veh icle is illuminated better when turning .
T he adaptive light and the cornering light only
funct ion when the switc h is in the AUTO position
(automat ic head lights*) .
A WARNING
- Daytime r unning lights and au toma tic head­
lights* are o nly intended to ass ist the d river .
T h ey do not relieve the drive r of his res pon­
sibility to check t he headlig hts and to tur n
t hem on m anually acco rdi ng to the curren t
light and visibili ty cond itions. For example,
fog cannot be detected by t he light sen­
sors*. So a lways switch on the headlights

unde r these weather conditions and when
driving in the dark .
- Crashes can happen when you cannot see
the road ahead and when you cannot be
seen by ot her motorists. Always tur n on the
headlights so that yo u can see ahead a nd so
that others can s ee yo ur ca r from the back .
- Please obey all laws w hen us ing the lighting
sys tems described here.

The rear fog lights* shou ld only be turned on

Front passenger's exterior mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when ba cking in to a
pa rking space , the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly. For this to happen, the knob must be in
the posit ion for the front passenger's outs ide
mirror.
You can adjust the ti lted mi rror sur fa ce by turn­
ing the knob in the desired direction. When you
move out of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is sto red and assigned to the
key yo u are using.
The mirror goes back into its o riginal position
once yo u drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or tu rn the ignition off .
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (convex or spherical *)
increase your f ield of view. Remember that
vehicles or other objects will appear smaller
and fa rther away than when seen in a flat mir­
ror. If you use t his mirro r to est imate distan­
ces of following vehicles whe n cha ng ing
lanes, yo u co uld estimate incor rectly and
c ause an accident .
(D Note
-If the mir ror housing was moved by outs ide
fo rces (such as an impac t when maneuver­
in g), y ou must use the powe r fo ldi ng func­
tion to fold the mirro r all the way out . The
mirror housing must not be moved back in ­
to place by hand beca use this would impa ir
the function of the m irror mechanism.
- If you wash the ve hicle in an automatic car
wash, yo u m ust fold the exte rior m irrors i n
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors.

Electrolyte f luid can leak from automa tic di m­
ming mi rrors if the glass is broken . Electro­
lyte fl uid can irritate s kin, eyes and respirato ­
ry system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to electro­
lyte ca n cause irritation to the respiratory
system, especially among people with asth­ ma or other respiratory conditions . Get
fresh air immediately by leaving the vehicle
or, if that is not possible, open windows a nd
doors all the way. ..,.

You can adjust the settings for the rear sun shade
so the shade retracts automatically when you se­
lect the reverse gear . To do th is, select the ICAR !

Whe n lowe ring or ra is ing the sunsha de, make
sure there is nothing in its way and that it has
a free path to travel. Th is could cause person­

@ Tips
- Pressing the button rn several times con­
secutively can trigger the over load protec­
tion. The sun shade can o nly be extended/
r etracted again after a brief wa iting pe riod.
- The rea r window sun shade only functions
when the vehicle interior is warmer than
14°F (-10°C) .

the rain once the vehicle speed exceeds approxi­
mately 2 mph (4 km/ h). The higher the sensitivi ­
ty of the rain sensor * is set (sw itch @to the
right), t he earlier the windshield wipers react to
moistu re on the w indshield . In some models, you
can switc h rain senso r mode off and switch inte r­
mittent mode on in the MM !* . Select: ICAR !func­

Cleaning the headlig hts*. The headlight was her
system* operates only when the headlights are
o n. If you move the lever to position @, the
headlig hts are washed in inte rva ls .

- Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wipe r system must be switched off (lever in
position @). This helps to prevent uninten­
tional switching on and damage to the
windsh ield wiper system.
(D Tips
- The windshield wipers are switched off
when the ignition is turned off. Activate the
windsh ield wipers after the ign it ion is
switched back on by moving the winds hield
wiper lever to any posit ion.
- Worn or dirty windshield wiper blades result
i n streak ing . This can affect the ra in sensor*
funct ion. Check your windshield wiper
blades regularly .
- The washer fluid nozzles of the windshield
washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ignition is on .
- When stopping temporarily, (e.g . at a traf­
fic light) the set speed of the windshie ld
wipe rs is automatically reduced by one
speed.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshield wiper blades when they be ­
gin to leave streaks. Use a soft cloth and g lass
cleaner to clean the w indshield wiper blades.

For your safety, you should replace the wiper
blades once or twice a year. See your author­
ized Audi dealer for replacement blades.
(D Note
-The windshield wiper blades must only be
replaced when in the service position! Oth­
erwise, you risk damaging the paint on the hood or the windshield wiper motor.
- You should not move your vehicle or press
the windshield wiper lever when the wiper
arms are folded away from the windshield.
The windshield wipers would move back in­
to their original position and could damage
the hood and windshield .
- To help prevent damage to the wiper sys­
tem, always loosen blades which are frozen
to the windshield before operating wipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades, do
not use gasoline , kerosene, paint thinner, or
other solvents on or near the wiper blades.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper arms
or other components, do not attempt to move the wipers by hand.
@ Tips
- Commercial hot waxes applied by automatic
car washes affect the how easily the glass
surface can be cleaned.
- You can also use the service position, for ex­
ample, if you want to protect the windshield
from icing by using a cover.

The digital compass only works when the ignition
is on. The directions are indicated with abbrevia­
tions:
N (north), NE (northeast), E (east), SE
(southeast), S (south), SW (southwest), W
(west), NW (northwest).

To prevent inaccurate compass readings, do not bring any remote controls, electrical devi­
ces or metallic objects near the mirror.
