Map updates with MapCare
Volvo Sensus Navigation remote updates can be done directly to the vehicle through a cell phoneInternet connection or from a computer with aUSB flash drive.
General update informationThe system's maps are divided into a number of fixed regions. When updates are done, it is notnecessary to update all of the regions at thesame time but instead can be done for a specificregion or several regions. One or several regions can be updated from the vehicle's Internet connection. However, for majorupdates, a computer and a USB flash drive arerecommended. If an itinerary covers several regions, they should all have the same version number to enable thesystem to calculate the best route to the destina-tion(s).
Updating the map structureChanging the map structure may sometimes benecessary, e.g., if a region is added or if a largeregion is divided into smaller ones. If this is thecase, normal updates may not be possible and amessage will be displayed explaining what hashappened. In this situation, the entire map must be reinstal- led from a USB flash drive. For additional infor-mation, contact a Volvo retailer.
Updating navigation system softwareIn addition to the maps, the system's software isbeing steadily developed and has to be updatedoccasionally. This may mean that newly downloa-ded map information may not be supported bythe navigation system's software. If this happens,a message will be displayed indicating that thesoftware needs to be updated. This can be doneby a Volvo retailer or from a USB flash drive. See the section "Software version" in the article "System settings."

Wi-Fi connection to a workshop The time a vehicle is in a workshop for service or repairs can be reduced by transmitting trouble-shooting information as soon as the car reachesthe workshop. This is done most conveniently by selecting
Automatically connect when I arrive in the
center display's Settings menu.
Each time the vehicle slows down to a sufficiently low speed, it begins searching for a Wi-Fi net-work. If an authorized Volvo network (at a retaileror workshop) is found, a message will be dis-played or a pop-up window will open in the cen-ter display (this applies to manual connections, see the section "Manually connecting to a work-shop" below).
Automatically connecting to a workshop
Without driver confirmationThis is the most convenient way to transmit trou- ble-shooting data. The driver does not need toconfirm that the vehicle will establish a connec-tion. If the vehicle stops at a workshop and the engine is switched off using the start knob, a messagewill appear above the status bar in the center dis-play. The vehicle will be automatically connectedwhen the driver's door is opened if the driver does not tap the
Cancel button in the message.
To help prevent the driver from being disturbed by unwanted requests to connect (e.g., if the vehicle is often parked near a workshop with anauthorized Volvo network), the vehicle will switchto manual connection if the driver cancels a con-nection request twice within 5 days.
With driver confirmationWith this alternative, the driver must confirm a connection. If the vehicle stops at a workshop and the engine is switched off using the start knob, a pop-upwindow will open in the center display. The vehi-cle will be automatically connected when the driv- er's door is opened if the driver taps
Connect in
the pop-up window. If the driver does nothing or taps the pop-up window's
Abort button, no
attempt will be made to establish a connection.
NOTE
To help prevent the driver from being distur- bed by unwanted requests to connect (e.g., ifthe vehicle is often parked near a workshopwith an authorized Volvo network), the vehiclewill switch to manual connection if the drivercancels a connection request twice within5 days.
Manually connecting to a workshopManual connections are handled by the service technician.
Changing the way a connection is madeThe type of connection (manual or automatic)can be changed in the center display's Settingsmenu.
1. Pull down the center display's Top view and

WARNING
•
Do not allow oil to spill onto or come into contact with hot exhaust pipe surfaces.
• If
Engine oil level Service required is
displayed, have the vehicle checked by a trained and qualified Volvo service techni-cian. The oil level may be too high.

Oil level graphic in the center display
The oil level should be checked at regular inter- vals, particularly during the period up to the firstscheduled maintenance service. If the oil level sensor indicates that the level is too low, using the correct oil, top up with theamount of oil indicated as soon as possible.
NOTE
• The system cannot detect changes in the oil level immediately. The vehicle must bedriven approximately 20 miles (30 km) orhave been parked on level ground withthe engine off for 5 minutes before theoil level reading will be correct.
• If the necessary conditions are not metfor checking the oil level electronically(time interval after the engine wasswitched off, if the vehicle is parked on an incline, etc.),
No values available will
be displayed. This does not indicate a
problem with the oil level sensor.
