rear window automatically to increase the engine load. In this event, the
heated rear window is indicated as
one of the top consumers, without
activation by the driver.

modifications

Vehicle storage
Storage for a long period of time If the vehicle is to be stored for severalmonths:
■ Wash and wax the vehicle.
■ Have the wax in the engine compartment and underbody
checked.
■ Clean and preserve the rubber seals.
■ Fill up fuel tank completely.
■ Change the engine oil.
■ Drain the washer fluid reservoir. ■ Check the coolant antifreeze and corrosion protection.
■ Adjust tyre pressure to the value specified for full load.
■ Park the vehicle in a dry, well ventilated place. Engage first orreverse gear or set selector lever to P . Prevent the vehicle from rolling.
■ Do not apply the parking brake.

bleeding
If the tank has been run dry, the diesel fuel system must be bled. Switch on
the ignition three times for
15 seconds at a time. Then crank the
engine for a maximum of
40 seconds. Repeat this process after
no less than five seconds. If the
engine fails to start, seek the
assistance of a workshop.
Wiper blade replacementLift the wiper arm until it stays in the
raised position. Press the catches on
both sides, tilt wiper blade at a 90° to the wiper arm and remove upwards.
Insert in reverse order.
Lower wiper arm carefully.
Wiper blade on the rear window
Lift wiper arm. Disengage wiper blade as shown in illustration and remove.
Attach the wiper blade slightly angled
to the wiper arm and push until it
engages.
Lower wiper arm carefully.
Bulb replacement
Switch off the ignition and switch off
the relevant switch or close the doors.
Only hold a new bulb at the base! Do not touch the bulb glass with bare
hands.
Use only the same bulb type for
replacement.
Replace headlight bulbs from within
the engine compartment.
Bulb check After a bulb replacement switch on
the ignition, operate and check the
lights.
Halogen headlights
Halogen headlights with separate
bulbs for sidelight, low beam and high beam.

Tyre pressure 3 237.
The tyre pressure information label on the right door frame indicates theoriginal equipment tyres and the
correspondent tyre pressures.
The tyre pressure data refers to cold
tyres. It applies to summer and winter tyres.
The ECO tyre pressure serves to
achieve the smallest amount of fuel
consumption possible.
Incorrect tyre pressures will impair
safety, vehicle handling, comfort and fuel economy and will increase tyre
wear.
Tyre pressures differ depending on
various options. For the correct tyre
pressure value, follow the procedure
below:
■ Identify the engine identifier code. Engine data 3 230.
■ Identify the respective tyre.
The tyre pressure tables show all
possible tyre combinations 3 237.For the tyres approved for your
vehicle, refer to the EEC Certificate of Conformity provided with your vehicle
or other national registration
documents.
The driver is responsible for correct
adjustment of tyre pressure.9 Warning
If the pressure is too low, this can
result in considerable tyre warm-
up and internal damage, leading to tread separation and even to tyre
blow-out at high speeds.
If the tyre pressure must be reduced
or increased, switch off ignition. After
adjusting tyre pressure switch on
ignition and select the relevant setting on the page Tyre load in the Driver
Information Centre 3 93.
Tyre pressure monitoring
system The tyre pressure monitoring system
(TPMS) checks the pressure of all
four tyres once a minute when vehicle speed exceeds a certain limit.Caution
Tyre pressure monitoring system
warns only about low tyre pressure
condition and does not replace
regular tyre maintenance by the
driver.
All wheels must be equipped with pressure sensors and the tyres must
have the prescribed pressure.
Notice
In countries where the tyre pressure
monitoring system is legally
required, the use of wheels without
pressure sensors will invalidate the
vehicle type approval.
The current tyre pressures can be
shown in the Vehicle Menu in the
Driver Information Centre (DIC).
