 While the engine coolant temperature is low, the temperature of the air from the heater will be cool/cold until the engine warms up, even if you have selected warm air with the dial.  When the temperature is set to the highest or the lowest setting under the AUTO opera-tion, the air selection and the air conditioning will be automatically changed as follows. • Quick Heating (When the temperature is set to the highest setting) Outside air will be introduced and the airconditioning will stop. In this case, manual operation is possible. • Quick Cooling (When the temperature is set to the lowest setting) Inside air will be recirculated and the airconditioning will operate. In this case, you cannot select outside air and turn the air conditioning off.

 To listen to the audio system while the engine is not running, turn the ignition switch to the “ACC” position. If the ignition switch is left in the “ACC”position, the accessory power will automati- cally turn off after a
certain period of time
and you will no longer be able to use theaudio system. The accessory power comes on again if the ignition switch is turned from the “ACC” position. Refer to “ACC powerauto-cutout function” on page 5-54.  If a cellular phone is used inside the vehicle, it may create noise in the audio equipment. This does not mean that anything is wrong with your audio equipment. In such a case,use the cellular phone at a place as far away as possible from the audio equipment.
 If foreign objects or water get into the audio equipment, or if smoke or a strange odor comes from it, immediately turn off the audio system and have it checked at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or arepair facility of your choice. Never try to repair it yourself. Avoid using the audio sys- tem until it is inspected by a qualified per-son.  If the audio system is damaged by foreign objects, water, or fire, have the system checked by a qualified Mitsubishi Motors technician.  The audio amplifier (if so equipped) is located under the front left seat.Do not subject the amplifier to a strong impact. It could damage the amplifier or malfunc-tioning could result.

Press the MEDIA key to set USB as the source. The selected source is indicated on the dis- play. Press the key or key to select the track. This enables selection of the next or previous track. Hold down the 3 key or the 4 key. Fast forward/rewind is possible.
 Do not use hard discs, card readers, or mem- ory readers, as damage
may occur to these or
to the data contained therein. If these are erroneously connected, then turn the ignition switch to the “LOCK” position, then remove. Because of the risk of data loss, it is recom- mended that files be backed up. No guarantee is made as regards damage to the USB device, nor regarding loss or dam-age to data contained therein. Depending on how the devices are handled, audio files being damaged or lost, therefore it is recommended that data be backed up.NOTE
 Digital audio players that support the mass storage class specifications can be con-nected.  For details regarding the types of USB devices that can be connected and the types of files that can be played back in vehicles with a Bluetooth

If your vehicle breaks down on the road, move to the shoulder and turn on the hazardwarning flashers. If there is no shoulder, or the shoulder is not safe, drive in the right lane slowly, with the hazard lights flashing, untilyou come to a safe stopping place. Keep the flashers flashing. If the engine stops, there will be no power assist to the steering and brakes, making these difficult to use.  The brake booster will not work, so the brakes will not grip well. The brake pedalwill be harder to press than usual.  Since there is no power steering assist, the steering wheel will be hard to turn.

If the engine cannot be started because the battery is weak or dead, you can start it withthe battery from another vehicle using jumper cables. 1. Take off any metal jewelry such as watch bands or bracelets that might make an accidental electrical contact. 2. Position the vehicles close enough together so that the jumper cables can reach, but be sure the vehicles aren’ttouching each other.
3. You could be injured if the vehicles move. Set the parking brake firmly on each vehi-cle. Put an automatic transaxle, CVT or Twin Clutch SST in “P” (PARK) or a manual transaxle in “N” (Neutral). Turnthe ignition key to the “LOCK” position. 4. Make sure your battery electrolyte is at the proper level. (Refer to “Checking bat- tery electrolyte level” on page 9-15.)

Before changing a tire, first stop your vehicle in a safe, flat location. 1. Park the vehicle on level and stable ground.2. Set the parking brake firmly. 3. On vehicles with manual transaxle, turn the ignition switch to the “LOCK” posi-tion, and move the gearshift lever to the “R” (Reverse) position.
On vehicles with continuously variable transmission (CVT) or Twin Clutch SST, move the selector lever (CVT) or the gearshift lever (Twin Clutch SST) to the“P” (PARK) position, and turn the igni- tion switch to the “LOCK” position. 4. Place the gearshift lever in the “Neutral” position. Turn the ignition switch to the “ACC” posi-tion and secure the steering wheel in a straight-ahead position with a rope or tie- down strap. Never place the ignition switch inthe “LOCK” position when towing.
Release the parking brake. Place the gearshift lever in the “Neutral” position (manual transaxle) or the selectorlever in the “N” (NEUTRAL) position (CVT).

If your vehicle becomes stuck in snow, sand, or mud, it can often be
moved by a rocking
motion. Rock your vehicle back and forth to free it. Do not rev the engine or spin the wheels.Constant efforts to free a stuck vehicle can cause overheating and transaxle failure. Let
the engine idle for a few minutes to cool the transaxle before trying again. If your vehicle is still stuck after several rock- ing attempts, call for a commercial tow truckservice.
 [For front-wheel drive vehicle equipped with the active stability control (ASC)] If the vehicle is towed with the ignition switch in the “ON” position and only the front wheels or only the rear wheels raisedoff the ground, the ASC may operate, result- ing in an accident. When towing the vehicle with only the front wheels or only the rearwheels raised, keep the ignition switch in the “LOCK” or “ACC” position. [For vehicle equipped with the Electronically controlled 4WD system] Even in “2WD” mode, the vehicle cannot betowed with the front or the rear wheels on the ground.

WA R N I N G When trying to rock your vehicle out of a stuck position, make sure that there are no people nearby. The rocking motion canmake your vehicle suddenly lurch forward or backward, and injure any bystanders.
On wet roads
CAUTION Avoid flooded roads. Water is often deeper than it looks, and you could be seriously hurt by driving into flood water.  When driving in rain, on water-covered roads, or through a car wash, water could get into the brake discs and make them fail tem-porarily. In such cases, lightly press the brake pedal to see if they are working prop- erly. If they are not, press the pedal lightly several times while driving to dry the brake pads or linings, then check them again.

To reduce the possibility of catalytic con- verter damage:  Use UNLEADED GASOLINE ONLY of the type of recommended in “Fuel selec- tion”.  Do not drive with an extremely low fuel level. Running out of gas could damage the catalytic converter.  Do not try to start the engine by pushing or towing the vehicle. If the battery is weak or run down, use jumper cables to properly start the engine.
 Do not idle the engine with any spark plug wires disconnected or removed, such as when performing diagnostic tests.  Do not idle the engine for a long time if it is idling roughly or otherwise obviously malfunctioning.  To prevent the catalytic converter from being damaged from unburned gas, do not race the engine when turning off the igni- tion switch.  Stop driving the vehicle if you think the performance is less than normal, the engine is running oddly or there is any other engine trouble, such as with theignition, etc. If you
are not able to stop
driving immediately, slow down and drive for only a short time. Have an inspectionmade by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice as soon as possible.  In unusual situations involving major engine problems, a burning odor may indicate severe and abnormal catalyticconverter overheating. If this occurs, stop in a safe place, shut the engine off and let the vehicle cool. Once the engine is cool,immediately take your vehicle to a dealer or a repair facility of your choice for ser- vice.
