381-1. Hybrid system
CAUTION●
If your vehicle needs to be towed, do so with all front wheels (for 2WD models) or
four wheels (for AWD models) raised. If the wheels connected to the electric
motor (traction motor) are on the ground when towing, the motor may continue
to generate electricity. This may cause an electricity leakage leading to a fire.

Carefully inspect the ground under the vehicle. If you find that liquid has leaked
onto the ground, the fuel system may have been damaged. Leave the vehicle as
soon as possible.■
Nickel-metal hydride battery
Your vehicle contains a sealed nickel-metal hydride battery. If disposed of improp-
erly, it is hazardous to the environment and there is a risk of severe burns and elec-
trical shock that may result in death or serious injury.■
Emergency shut off system
Carefully check to see if there are exposed high voltage parts or cables. Never
touch the parts or cables. (

NOTICE■
Hybrid battery air vents ●
Do not put foreign objects over the air vents. The hybrid battery (traction battery)
may overheat or lose power and be damaged. ●
Clean the air vents regularly to prevent the hybrid battery (traction battery) from
overheating.●
Do not wet or allow foreign substances to enter the air vents as this may cause a
short circuit and damage the hybrid battery (traction battery).●
Do not carry large amounts of water such as an aquarium into the vehicle. If water
spills onto the hybrid battery (tractio n battery), the battery may be damaged.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

When driving ■
If a warning message is shown on the multi-information display
Press the “ON-OFF” button once to deactiv ate the system, and then press the but-
ton again to reactivate the system.
If the cruise control speed cannot be set or if the cruise control cancels immediately
after being activated, there may be a malfun ction in the cruise control system. Have
the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
CAUTION■
To avoid operating the cruise control by mistake
Switch the cruise control off using the “ON-OFF” button when not in use.■
Situations unsuitable for cruise control
Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations.
Doing so may result in loss of control and could cause an accident resulting in death
or serious injury. ●
In heavy traffic●
On roads with sharp bends●
On winding roads●
On slippery roads, such as thos e covered with rain, ice or snow●

Situations unsuitable for dynamic radar cruise control
Do not use dynamic radar cruise contro l in any of the following situations.
Doing so may result in inappropriate sp eed control and could cause an accident
resulting in death or serious injury. ●
In heavy traffic●
On roads with sharp bends●
On winding roads●
On slippery roads, such as thos e covered with rain, ice or snow●
On steep downhills, or where there are sudden changes between sharp up and
down gradients
Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill.●
At entrances to expressways●
When weather conditions are bad enough that they may prevent the sensors
from functioning correctly (fog, sn ow, sandstorm, heavy rain, etc.)●
When an approach warning buzzer is heard often●
When your vehicle is towing a trailer or during emergency towing■
When the sensor may not be correctly detecting the vehicle ahead
Apply the brakes as necessary when any of the following types of vehicles are in
front of you.
As the sensor may not be able to correctly detect these types of vehicles, the
approach warning (  P. 241) will not be activated, and a fatal or serious accident
may result. ●
Vehicles that cut in suddenly●
Vehicles traveling at low speeds●
Vehicles that are not moving
●
Vehicles with small rear ends (tra ilers with no load on board etc.)
●
Motorcycles traveling in the same lane

■ Stolen Vehicle Location
If your vehicle is stolen, Safety Co nnect can work with local authorities
to assist them in locating and re covering the vehicle. After filing a
police report, call the Safety Conn ect response center at 1-800-25-
LEXUS (1-800-255-3987) and follo w the prompts for Safety Con-
nect to initiate this service.
In addition to assisting law enforcemen t with recovery of a stolen vehi-
cle, Safety-Connect-equipped vehicl e location data may, under cer-
tain circumstances, be shared with third parties to locate your vehicle.

■ Emergency Assistance Button (“SOS”)
In the event of an emergency on the road, push the “SOS” button to
reach the Safety Connect response center. The answering agent will
determine your vehicle’s location, assess the emergency, and dispatch
the necessary assistance required. If you accidentally press the “SOS” bu tton, tell the response-center agent
that you are not experiencing an emergency.
■ Enhanced Roadside Assistance
Enhanced Roadside Assistance ad ds GPS data to the already
included warranty-based Lexus roadside service.
Subscribers can press the “SOS” button to reach a Safety Connect
response-center agent, who can help with a wide range of needs, such
as: towing, flat tire, fuel delivery, etc. For a descriptio n of the Enhanced

7285-1. Essential information
Emergency towing
If a tow truck is not available in an emergency, your vehicle may be tem-
porarily towed using a cable or chain secured to the emergency towing
eyelet. This should only be attempted on hard surfaced roads for short
distance at under 18 mph (30 km/h).
A driver must be in the vehicle to s teer and operate the brakes. The vehi-
cle’s wheels, drive train, axles, steering and brakes must be in good condi-
tion.
Emergency towing procedure

7945-2. Steps to take in an emergency
CAUTION■
When attempting to free a stuck vehicle
If you choose to push the vehicle back and forth to free it, make sure the surround-
ing area is clear to avoid striking other vehicles, objects or people. The vehicle may
also lunge forward or lunge back sudden ly as it becomes free. Use extreme cau-
tion.■
When shifting the shift lever
Be careful not to shift the shift lever with the accelerator pedal depressed.
This may lead to unexpected rapid acceleration of the vehicle that may cause an
accident resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE■
To avoid damage to the hybrid transmission and other components●
Avoid spinning the front wheels and depressing the accelerator pedal more than
necessary.●
If the vehicle remains stuck even after these procedures are performed, the vehi-
cle may require towing to be freed.
