Opening and closing
Once the front passenger's door has been closed,
you cannot open it again from the outside. The
door can be opened from the inside by pulling
the door handle.

After the ignition is switched on, the power
locking system switch and the unlocking but­
ton for the rear lid~ in the door are ena­
bled.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobili zer prevents your vehicle from being
started by unauthorized persons .
Inside the key there is a computer chip . This chip
automatically activates/deactivates the electron­ ic immobilizer .
Applies to vehicles with ignition lock:
The electronic immobilizer deactivates automati­
cally when you insert the remote control key into
the ignition lock.
It activates again automatically
when you remove the remote control key from
the ignition lock.
Applies to vehicles with convenience key:
If the remote control key is located inside the ve­
hicle and you press the
! S TAR T ENGINE ST OPI
button, the electronic immobilizer deactivates
automatically . If you swi tch the ignition off and
remove the remote control key from the vehicle,
the electronic immobilizer activates again auto ­
mat ically.
A WARNING
Always take the key with you when you leave
the vehicle. The key can disarm the electronic
eng ine immobilizer and permit an unauthor­
ized person to start the engine and enable op­
eration of the vehicle systems such as power
window or power sunroof leading to serious personal injury.

- Th e vehicle cannot be started if an unau­
thorized key is used. The vehicle may not
start if another radio device such as a key
for another vehicle or a transponder is locat­ ed on the key ring.

"' Pull the switch briefly to the se con d sto p to au­
tomatically close the window.
A WARNING
- When you leave your vehicle -even if only
briefly -always remove the ignition key. This
applies part icularly when children remain in
the vehicle. Otherwise the children could start the engine or operate electr ical equip­
ment (e.g. power w indows). The power win­
dows are functional until the driver's door o r
passenger's door has been opened.
- Pay close atten tion when closing the w in­
dows to prevent pinch ing of hands or limbs.
- When locking the vehicle from outs ide, the
vehicle must be unoccupied since the win­ dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency.
(I) Tips
- When you open the doo rs, the windows au­
tomatically lower about 10 mm.
- After the ignition has been switched off, the
windows can st ill be opened or closed for
about 10 m inutes. The window regulators
are not switched until the dr iver's or pas­
senger's door is opened .
Convenience opening/closing
The windows and the panoramic tilting sunroof
can be opened and closed with the mechanical
key or the emergency key.

When the panoramic tilting sunroof is tilted/
closed, the electric sun shade* is also opened/
closed.
A WARNING
- Never close the windows and the panoram ic
tilting sunroof inattentively and without
checking -there is risk of injury .
- You must always watch when the w indows
are be ing raised so that no one can be trap ­
ped. If you release the key, the closing ac­
tion is immed iate ly canceled .

Correcting window regulator malfunction
After disconnecting the vehicle battery , the one­
touch up and down feature must be activated
agatn.
"' Pull and ho ld the power window sw itch until
the window is completely closed .
"' Release the sw itch and pull the sw itch again for
one second .

After the ignit ion is switched off , you can still op ­
erate the sunroof for about 10 m inutes . As soon
as the driver's or passenger's door is opened, the
switch is inoperative .
Sun blind
The sun blind can be opened and closed manually
in any position .
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when closing the sun­
roof - otherwise ser ious injury could result!
For this reason, a lways remove the ign it ion
key when leaving the vehicle.

Always close your sunroof whe n leaving your
ve hicle. Sudden rai n can ca use damage to the
interio r equipment of your vehicle, part icular­
ly the elec tronic equipment.

Emergency closing of the panoramic tilting
sunroof
If the s unroof detects an object in its path when
it is closing, it will open aga in a utomatically . In
th is case, you can close the roof with the power
emergency closing function .
.,. Within five seconds after the sunroo f opens au­
tomatically , pu ll the switch until the roof
closes.
Valet parking
Appl ies to veh icles: w it h valet pa rking function
The valet parking feature protects the luggage
compartmen t from unauthorized access .

You can switch the "valet parking function" on
whe n someone e lse is parking your veh icle . When
the f unction is switched o n, the vehicle can be
driven, locked and un locked usi ng the master key,
but access to the luggage compartment is not

Seat s and storage
- After mounting a roof rack system, or when
you transport objects on the roof of your ve­ hicle, the height of the veh icle is naturally
i ncreased . Be caref ul when driv ing under
l ow bridges or in parking garages for exam­
ple. This cou ld cause damage to the load
and even the vehicle itself.
- Make sure that the open rear lid and the
sunroof do not come into contact w ith ob­
jects on the roof.
Loading the roof rack
Always distribute loads evenly. Make sure any­ thing on the roof rack is securely tied down.

"' Always attach items to the roof rack securely
before you drive off .
The max imum perm issib le roof weight is
165 lb
( 75 kg ). The roof weight is the total of the
weight of the roof rack, the attachments and the
cargo yo u are carry ing . You must also not exceed
the maximum load weight fo r the roof rack you
are using.
When us ing a roof rack system w hich has a lower
load carrying capacity, you must not use up the
tota l maxim um permissible load carry ing capac i­
ty spe cified above . In stead, you shou ld load the
roof rack sys tem only to the maximum capaci ty
specified by the manufact urer of the roof rack
system.
A WARNING
Weak, damaged or improper straps used to
secure items to the roof rack can fa il dur ing
hard brak ing or in a co llision and cause seri­
ous pe rsonal injury.
- Make sure the roof rack is installed exactly
as specified above

- Always use suitable mounting straps for se­
curing items to the roof rack to help prevent
items from shifting or flying fo rward .
- Items on the roof rack must always be se­
cu rely mounted.

large, heavy, bulky, long or flat will have a
greater negative influence on the vehicle's
aerodynamics, center of gravity and overall

As a result o f the increased wind resistance
create d by a roof rac k, yo ur vehicle is using
f u el unnecessarily. So remove the roof rack af ­

All luggage and other objects must be properly
stowed and secured in the luggage compart ­
ment.

Loose items in the luggage compartment can
shift suddenly, changing vehicle handling charac­
teristics. Loose items can also increase the risk of
serious personal injury in a sudden veh icle ma­
neuver or in a coll is ion.

heavy objects, that a change in the center of
grav ity can also cause changes in vehicle
handling:

- Place heavy objects as far forward in the
luggage compartment as possib le .
- Never exceed the Gross Axle We ight Rating
or the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating specified
on the safety compliance s ticker on the left
door jamb. Exceeding permissib le weight
standards can cause the vehicle to slide and
handle differently .

A WARNING
-To help prevent poisonous exhaust gas from
being drawn into the vehicle, always keep the
rear lid closed wh ile driving.
- Never transport objects la rger than those
fitting completely into the luggage area be­
cause the rear lid cannot be fully closed .
- If you absolutely must dr ive with the rear lid
open, observe the following notes to reduce
the risk of poisoning:
- Close all windows,
- Close the s unroof,
- Open all a ir outlets in the ins trumen t pan-
el,
- Switch off the air recirculat ion,
- Set the fresh air fan to the highest speed.
A WARNING
-A lways make sure that the doors , all windows,
the sunroof and the rear lid are securely
closed and locked to reduce the risk of injury
when the vehicle is not being used.
- After closing the rear lid, always make sure that it is properly closed and locked.

cle's value. It can a lso be a req uirement when
submitting warranty claims for corrosion damage
and paint defects on the body.

from your a uthorized Audi dea ler . Read and fol ­
l ow the instructions for use on the packaging .

- Using cleaning and care products incorrectly
can be dangerous to your health.
- Always store cleaning and care products out of reach of children to reduce the r isk of po i­
soning .

products when b uying cleaning agents.
- Do not dispose of leftover cleaning and care
products with h ousehold tras h.
Car washes
The longer that deposits remain on the vehicle ,
the more the s urface may be damaged . H igh
temperatures s uch as those caused by s unlight
increase the damaging effect.
Before washing, rinse off heavy deposits with
p lenty of water.

sap are best removed w ith plenty of wa ter and a
microfiber cloth .

Pressure washers
When washing your ve hicles w ith a pressure
washer, always follow the operating instructions p rov ided with t he p ress ure washer. This is espe-

tions from the car wash operator, especially if
there are accessor ies attached to your vehicle.
If possible, use car washes th at do not h ave
brushes.
Only use car washes whe re the vehicle rem ains
stationa ry and the w ashing eq uipmen t moves
aro und the veh icle when w ash ing and dry ing . Car
washes that move the vehicle thro ugh the car
wash using a c hain are n ot recommende d.
Washing by hand
Clean the ve hicl e s tarting fro m the top and work­
i ng down using a soft sponge or cleaning b rush .

Washing vehicles with matte finish paint by
hand
To avoid d amaging the paint whe n was hing, first
r emove dus t and la rge particles from yo ur vehi ­
cle . Insects, g rease s pots and finge rprints are
best removed with a spec ial cleaner for matte
finish paint.
Apply t he p rod uct us ing a micro fiber cloth . To
avoi d damaging the paint surface, do not use too
much pressure.
Rinse the ve hicl e thoro ughly with water. Then
clean usi ng a neutra l shampoo and a soft mic ro­
fi ber cloth .
