zThe performance may be changed due tothe outside temperature.At low temperature, in particular, the EVcruising range is short and the chargingtime is long, compared to operation atnormal temperature.zThe battery is gradually discharged with-out use and the battery charge is lowered.zIt is not necessary to consume the batterycompletely before charging.zIf your vehicle is not used for a long time,check the drive battery level display every3 months.If the drive battery level display shows 0,charge the battery until some indicationappears. zEven if the charge level is the same, theEV cruising range may vary depending ondriving conditions. Since driving at highspeed or climbing on a hill requires higherconsumption of the drive battery thanusual, the EV cruising range is shortened.zSince the air conditioning (cooling orheating) consumes power of the drive bat-tery, its operation results in a shorter EVcruising range. Maintain an appropriatetemperature.zPut the selector lever to “B” (BRAKE)position according to the road condition.To c h a rg e t h e d r i v e b a t t e r y w i t h a p p r o p r i -ate use of the regenerative brake, it can beincreased the EV cruising range.

The Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System(AVAS) is device that uses sound to alertpedestrians of the presence of the vehicle.The system operates when the vehicle speedis about 35 km/h or less and the engine is notrunning.Refer to “Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System(AVAS)” on page 7-24.

1. Firmly apply the parking brake, press theelectrical parking switch, then shift theselect position in “P” (PARK) position.2. Turn off electrical equipment such aslamps and put the operation mode of thepower switch in OFF.3. Push the rear portion of the charging lid(A) until it clicks, and open the charginglid.
4. Press the tab (B) to open the inner lid (C).
NOTE
zThe charging port courtesy lamp illuminat-ing time can be adjusted.For details, please consult a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.zWhen the select position is not in “P”(PARK) position, the charging port courtesylamp does not illuminate when the charginglid is opened.zIf the MITSUBISHI Remote Control is oper-ated when the charging port courtesy lamp isoff, the lamp may illuminate.

5. Insert the charging cable plug into an out-let.
6. Remove the cap (E) on the normal chargeconnector (F) and make sure that there isno foreign matter such as dust at the endof the normal charge connector and thenormal charge port.
WA R N I N GzMake sure that the plug is inserted all theway into the outlet before use. If chargingis continued in the state where it is notfully inserted the plug, there is a possibil-ity of generating abnormal heat andresulting in a fire.zTo p r e v e n t a n e l e c t r i c s h o c k o r f i r e d u e t oelectric current leak, perform chargingusing a waterproofed outlet with earthingwhich is connected to an earth leakage cir-cuit breaker.

zAlways use an earthed outlet protected bya residual current detector, rated foramperage equal to or greater than thevalue specified by MITSUBISHIMOTORS, and that is connected to a dedi-cated branch circuit. If the circuit isshared, and another el
ectrical device is
being used at the same time the vehicle ischarging, the circuit may heat abnormally,the breaker may trip and the circuit maycause adverse interference on the house-hold electrical appliances such as televi-sions and audio systems.zUse the rated AC 240 V rated outlet indi-vidually. If a multi plug adapter is con-nected and used with the EV chargingcable together with other devices, the out-let may overheat, resulting in a fire.zUse an outlet for EV charging whichwaterproofing processing is carried out ifthe installed position
is outdoors or may
get wet by rain etc.CAUTIONzUse the outlet that is installed approx. 1meter above the ground. If the outlet positionis too low, the control box may touch theground, which may lead to troubles such assubmersion in water or getting trampled on.WA R N I N G

zCustomize (function setting change)The function setting of the keyless opera-tion system, security alarm, outside rear-view mirror, operation mode of the powerswitch, air conditioning, lamps and wind-screen wipers can be changed by MIT-SUBISHI Remote Control.
Devices that support wireless LAN arerequired to communicate with the vehicleusing the MITSUBISHI Remote Control.Also, an SSID* (A) and password (B) arerequired to connect a wireless LAN device tothe vehicle. The SSID and password comewith the key at the time of your purchase ofthe vehicle.

zThe electric heater is required to activate thereservation functions of
heater, defroster and
demister.zDue to the communication distance differsdepending on the wireless LAN device, thecommunication may down.

Even ifthe remote climate control is used, thecabin may become hot or cold due to somereasons such as automatic stop of the sys-tem. The cabin temperature may quicklyrise in sunshine, which poses a risk of heatstroke and dehydration. In cold weather,on the other hand, the cabin temperaturemay quickly drop. Either of which couldlead to death in the worst case.zThe cooling fan in
the engine compart-
ment may operate automatically whencharging or when operating air condi-tioner. Do not bring you

zThe auxiliary battery is automatically andperiodically charged using electrical powerstored in the drive battery.zWhile the remote climate control is operatingor the charging, the cooling fan or air condi-tioner compressor may start operating and itssound may be heard.

The electric tailgate can be opened automati-cally when all of the following conditions aremet.zThe operation mode is in OFF.zThe key is not inserted into the ignitionswitch.zThe electric tailgate is completely closed.zThe electric tailgate is unlocked.
zThe operation mode is in ON with theelectrical parking switch is pressed.zThe electric tailgate is completely closed.zThe electric tailgate is unlocked.
zThe electric tailgate is unlocked.zThe keyless operation key is within theoperating range (70 cm from the electrictailgate switch) and the tailgate is locked.The factory setting is “Inactive”.To m o d i f y t h e s e t t i n g t o “ A c t i v e ” , p l e a s econtact an authorised MITSUBISHIMOTORS dealer.
The electric tailgate can be closed automati-cally when all of the following conditions aremet.zThe operation mode is in OFF.zThe electric tailgate is completely open.zPeople, luggage, etc., are not touching thesensors.

zDo not start the engine while the tailgate isoperating. The sudden operation preventionmechanism could operate, making the elec-tric tailgate stop intermittently while itmoves.NOTE
zThe electric tailgate cannot be opened whenthe battery is flat or disconnected.If you want to open the electric tailgate, itcan be opened by using the inside tailgaterelease.Refer to “Inside tailgate release” on page4-24.zIf the keyless entry system or close switch isoperated when the electric tailgate powerswitch is off, the warning buzzer sounds 4times to notify the driver that the electrictailgate cannot be operated.zThe electric tailgate does not operate nor-mally under the following conditions:•When parked on an incline•In strong winds•When the electric tailgate is covered withsnow
zRepeated continuous operation betweenopening and closing the electric tailgate willactivate the built-in protection circuit andswitch the tailgate to manual operation.CAUTION
zIf the electric tailgate handle is operatedwhile the tailgate is operating or immedi-ately after it is closed, the tailgate will movein the direction opposite to the one in whichit was operating.zIf the battery or fuse is replaced while theelectric tailgate is open, it cannot be closedautomatically.In this case close the electric tailgate manu-ally.
