Anti-crush safety device
The vehicle is equipped with an anti-pinch safety device
for the rais ing of the front window s.
This s afety system detect s the pres ence of an obs tacle dur-
ing the window clo sing travel and cut s in by s topping and
rever sing the window travel, depending on it s pos ition.
This device is also us eful if the windows are activated ac-
cidentally by children on board the vehicle.
The anti-pinch function i s active both during manual and
automatic operation of the electric window s. Following
the intervention of the anti-pinch system, the window trav-
el is immediately interrupted and s ubsequently reversed
until the lower end of travel is reached. The window can-
not be operated in an y way during thi s time.
IMPORTANT If the anti-pinch protection intervenes 5
cons ecutive times within a minute or i s faulty , the auto-
matic clo sing operation of the window i s inhibited, onl y
allowing it in s teps of half a s econd; the button is r
eleased
for the s ubsequent manoeuvre. In order to res
tore the correct operation of the system, one
of the following manoeuvre s mus t be performed:
❍ switch off and res tart the engine;
❍ fully lower the window concerned.
IMPORTANT With ignition ke y at S TOP or removed, the
electric window s remain active for about 3 minutes and
are deactivated when a door i s opened.

Electric window system initialisation
The system mus t be re-initiali sed after di sconnecting the
battery or if the relevant protection fu se is blown.
Initialis ation procedure:
❍ fully close the window to be initiali sed manuall y;
❍ once fully closed, keep holding down the clo sing con-
trol for at leas t 1 second.
IMPORTANT Where provided, after there ha s been no
power supply for the control units (battery replaced or dis -
connected or protective fu se s for the electric window con-
trol units replaced), the automatic operation of the win-
dows must be res tored. The res
toration procedure mu st be performed a s des cribed
below with the door s clos ed:
1. completely open the driver’ s door window keeping the
operating button pre ssed for at least three seconds af-
ter the (lower) end of travel po sition;
2. completely raise the driver
’ s s ide window and keep the
button pre ssed for at leas t three seconds once the end
of travel pos ition (upper end s top) has been reached;
3. repeat stages 1 and 2 for the passenger-s ide window
4. make sure that the initialis ation is correct by checking
that the windows work automaticall y.
IMPORTANT With central locking on, operating the in-
ternal handle of one of the door s will unlock all the door s.
If there is no electric power s upply (fuse blown, battery
dis connected, etc.) it i s s till possible to operate the door
locking manually ; in this case the automatic lowering func-
tion for the window s i s not available and to open or clo se
the door with the window clo sed it is necessary to exert
pressur
e on the window toward s the in side of the vehicle
to facilitate the movement of the window on the mould-
ing.

DRIVING ADVISOR
(Lane crossing warning )
(for versions/markets , where provided)
The Driving Advisor is a warnin g s ystem which no-
tifies the driver if they cross lanes, assisting the dri-
ver when distracted.
A video s ensor, fitted on the winds creen near the interior
rear view mirror, detect s the lane demarcation line s and
the pos ition of the car in relation to them.
IMPORTANT On cars with Driving Advisor, it is advisable
to contact a Lancia Dealer ship should the winds creen need
to be replaced. If the repair i s being carried out at a spe-
cialis t window replacement centre, it i s s till necessary to
go to a Lancia Dealer ship to have the TV camera cali-
brated.
System failure
In the event of a malfunction, the
system notifies the dri-
ver of the fault via a dedicated message in the reconfig-
urable multifunction di splay instrument panel and the
amber isymbol coming on.
In this case, go to a Lancia Dealer ship.

FRONT AIRBAGSThe car is provided with front airbags for the driver and
the passenger, driver’s knee bag (for versions/markets
where provided) and front side bags (side bags - window
bags).
The front airbags (driver, passenger driver’s knee bag)
protect the occupants of the front seats in the event of
moderate to serious front impacts by positioning the bag
between the occupant and the steering wheel or the dash-
board.
Therefore non-activation in other types of collisions (side
collisions, rear shunts, roll-overs, etc.) is not a system mal-
function.
An electronic control unit will make the bag inflate in the
event of a frontal impact.
The bag will
inflate instantaneously placing itself between
the front occupants body and the structures which could
cause injury. It will deflate immediately afterwards.
The front airbags (driver, passenger, driver knee bag) do
not replace but rather complement the seat belts, which
you are always advised to wear, as specified by law in Eu-
rope and most non-European countries.
In the event of an impact, someone not wearing a seat belt
could move forward and come into contact with a bag
which is still in the opening phase. The protection offered
by the bag is reduced in such a case. The front airbags may not be activated in the following sit-
uations:
❍front collisions agai
nst highly deformable objects not
affecting the front surface of the car (e.g. bumper col-
lision against guard rail, etc.);
❍car wedging under other vehicles or protective barri-
ers (e.g. trucks or guard rails).
Failure to activate in the conditions described above is due
to the fact that they may not provide any additional pro-
tection compared with seat belts, so their activation would
be inappropriate. In these cases, non-deployment of the
airbag does not necessarily indicate a system malfunction.
Do not apply stickers or other objects on the
steering wheel, on the dashboard in the pas-
senger side airbag area, on the side uphol-
stery on the roof and on the seats. Never put ob-
jects (e.g. mobile phones) on the passenger side of
the dashboard since they could interfere with cor-
rect inflation of the passenger airbag and also cause
serious injury to the passengers.

SAFETY
SIDE BAGS (Side bag - Window bag) SIDE BAG fig. 15
It consists of an instantly inflating bag housed in the front
seat backrest. It protects the chest and the pelvis of the
passengers in the event of side crashes of medium-high
severity.WINDOW BAGS fig. 16
This is formed by two “curtain” window bags located be-
hind the side roof cover and are covered by special trim.
They are designed to protect the head of front and rear
passengers in the event of side collisions, thanks to the
wide cushion inflation surface.
IMPORTANT In the event of a side impact, the system
provides best protection if the passenger sits on the seat in
a correct pos
ition, thus allowing correct window bag de-
ployment.

SAFETY

IMPORTANT The front airbags and/or side bags may ac-
tivate in the event of sharp knocks to the underbody of the
vehicle (e.g. impact with steps, pavements, potholes or
road bumps etc.).
IMPORTANT A small amount of dust will be released
when the airbags are deployed. The dust is harmless and
does not indicate the beginning of a fire. Furthermore, the
surface of the deployed bag and the interior of the car may
be covered with dusty residue. This dust can irritate skin
and eyes. Wash with mild soap and water in the event of
exposure.
IMPORTANT Pretensioners, front airbags and side bags
are deployed according to different logic on the basis of
the type of collision
. Non-deployment of one or more of
the devices does not therefore indicate a system malfunc-
tion.
Do not rest your head, arms or elbows on the
door, on the windows and on the window bag
area to avoid injuries during inflation. Nev-
er lean your head, arms or elbows out of the win-
dow.
IMPORTANT Should an accident occur activating any of
the safety devices, take the car to a Lancia Dealership to
have the activated devices replaced and the system
checked.
Airbag checking, repair and replacement must only be car-
ried out at a Lancia Dealership. If you are having the car
scrapped, have the airbag system deactivated at a Lan-
cia Dealership first. If the car changes ownership, the new
owner must be informed of the method of use of airbags
and the above warnings and also be given this “Owner
Handbook”.

SAVING FUELSome useful tips are given below for saving fuel and re-
ducing harmful emissions of CO
2and other pollutants (ni-
trogen oxides, unburnt hydrocarbons, Particulate Matter
(PM), etc.).
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
Car maintenance
Have checks and adjustments carried out in accordance
with the “Scheduled Servicing Plan”.
Ty r e s
Check the pressure of the tyres routinely at an interval of
no more than 4 weeks: if the pressure is too low, con-
sumption levels increase as resistance to rolling is higher.
Unnecessary loads
Do not travel with an overloaded luggage compartment.
The weight of the car (especially when driving in town)
and its ride greatly affect consumption and stability.Accessories installed on longitudinal bars
Remove accessories like
: roof racks, ski racks, luggage con-
tainer, etc. from the roof if they are no longer used. These
accessories lower aerodynamic penetration and adverse-
ly affect consumption levels. When transporting particu-
larly large objects, use a trailer if possible.
Electric devices
Use electrical devices only for the amount of time needed.
The heated rear window, additional headlights, wind-
screen/rear window wipers and heater fan need a con-
siderable amount of energy, therefore increasing fuel con-
sumption (by up to 25% in the urban cycle).
Climate control system
Using the climate control system leads to higher fuel con-
sumption (on average up to +20%). If the temperature
outside permits, try and use the vent
ilation only.
Devices for aerodynamic control
The use of non-certified devices for aerodynamic control
may adversely affect air drag and consumption levels.
