Going into engine START mode
The "EcO" warning   lamp   goes   off  a
nd   the   engine   starts:

w

ith a manual gearbox , when you
depress the clutch pedal,

w

ith a 5-speed or 6-speed electronic
gearbox :

ear   lever   in   position   A or M, when you
release
  the   brake   pedal,

gear   lever   in   position   N   and   the   brake

edal   released,   when   you   move   the   gear

ever to position A or M ,

when   you   engage   reverse   gear.
Special cases: START invoked
automatically
If the system has been deactivated in   STOP   mode,   the   engine   restarts

mmediately.

any   time,   press   the   "E
cO O
FF" switch to
deactivate   the   system.
This
 
is   confirmed   by   the   switch   warning   lamp  
c

oming   on   accompanied   by   a   message   in   the  
sc

reen.

For reasons of safety and for your comfort, S
TART   mode   is   invoked   automatically   when:

y

ou open the driver's door,
-
y

ou unfasten the driver's seat belt,
-
 
t
he   speed   of   the   vehicle   exceeds   7   mph  
(11
  km/h)   with   the   electronic   gearbox  
s

ystem,
-
 
s
ome   special   conditions   (battery   charge,  
e

ngine   temperature,   braking   assistance,  
a

mbient   temperature...)   where   the   engine   is  
n

eeded   for   control   of   a   system.
The "E
c
O
"
 
warning   lamp   flashes   for  
a

  few   seconds,   then   goes   off.
This operation is perfectly normal.
With
 
a
 
manual
 
gearbox
 
in
 
STOP
 
m

ode,
 
if
 
you
 
engage
 
a
 
gear
 
without
 
f

ully
 
depressing
 
the
 
clutch
 
pedal,
 
a
 
m

essage
 
is
 
displayed
 
asking
 
you
 
to
 
f

ully depress the clutch pedal so that
the
 
engine
 
can
 
restart.

The system is reactivated automatically at   every   new   start   using   the   key.
Reactivation
This system requires a battery with a special specification   and   technology   (reference  
n

umbers   available   from   a   CITROËN   dealer   or   a  
q

ualified
 w
orkshop).
Fitting
  a   battery   not   listed   by   CITROËN  
i

ntroduces   the   risk   of   malfunction   of   the  
s

ystem.
In
 
the
 
event
 
of
 
a
 
fault
 
with
 
the
 
system,
 
the
 
"

E
cO O

FF"
 
switch
 
warning
 
lamp
 
flashes
 
then
 
c

omes
 
on
 
continuously.
Have
 
it
 
checked
 
by
 
a
 
CITROËN
 
dealer
 
or
 
a
 
q

ualified
 w

orkshop.
In
 
the
 
event
 
of
 
a
 
fault
 
in
 
STOP
 
mode,
 
the
 
v

ehicle
 
may
 
stall.
 
All
 
of
 
the
 
instrument
 
panel

arning
 
lamps
 
come
 
on.
 
It
 
is
 
then
 
necessary

switch
 
off

ignition
 
and
 
start

Operating fault Maintenance
Before doing anything under the b
onnet, deactivate the Stop & Start
system
  to   avoid   any   risk   of   injury

esulting   from   automatic   operation   of

TART   mode.
The
  Stop   &   Start   system   makes   use

f   advanced   technology.   All   work

n   this   type   of   battery   must   be   done

workshop.

Hill start assist
System which holds your vehicle temporarily (approximately   2   seconds)   when   starting   on   a  
s

lope,   the   time   it   takes   to   move   your   foot   from  
t

he   brake   pedal   to   the   accelerator   pedal.
This
  function   is   only   active   when:
-
 
t
he   vehicle   is   completely   stationary,   with  
y

our   foot   on   the   brake   pedal,
-
 
c
ertain   conditions   on   a   slope   are   met,
-
 
w
ith   the   driver’s   door   closed.
The hill start assist function cannot be
deactivated.
On an ascending slope, with the vehicle
stationary, the vehicle is held momentarily
when you release the brake pedal:
-
 
p
rovided   you   are   in   automated   mode  
(

position A)
  or   in   manual   mode   (position   M)
on
  an   electronic   gearbox.
Do not leave the vehicle while it is
being
  held   in   the   hill   start   assist   phase.
If you need to leave the vehicle with
the
  engine   running,   manually   apply  
t

he   parking   brake   then   ensure   that   the  
p

arking   brake   warning   lamp   is   on   (not  
f

lashing)   in   the   instrument   panel.Operation
On a descending slope, with the vehicle
stationary and reverse gear engaged, the
vehicle is held momentarily when you
release the brake pedal.
Operating fault
If a malfunction of the system occurs, these warning   lamps   come   on.   Contact   a   CITROËN  
d

ealer   or   a   qualified   workshop   to   have   the  
s

ystem   checked.

System which prevents the vehicle from exceeding   the   speed   programmed   by   the  
d

river.
When
  the   programmed   speed   limit   is   reached,  
p

ressing   the   accelerator   pedal   in   the   normal  
m

anner   no   longer   has   any   effect.
The
  speed   limiter   is   switched on
 m
anually:
 it r

equires   a   programmed   speed   of   at   least  
20
  mph   (30   km/h).
The
  speed   limiter   is   switched off
 
by   manual  
o

peration   of   the   control.
The
  programmed   speed   can   be   exceeded  
t

emporarily   by   pressing   the   accelerator   firmly.
To
  return   to   the   programmed   speed,   simply  
s

low   down   to   a   speed   below   the   programmed  
s

peed.

hen   the   ignition   is   switched   off.
Speed limiter
The speed limiter cannot, in any circumstances, replace   the   need   to   respect   speed   limits,   nor   can   it r

eplace   the   need   for   vigilance   on   the   part   of   the   driver.
The controls of this system are grouped together   on   stalk   A.

Exceeding the programmed speed
Pressing the accelerator pedal to exceed the programmed speed will not have any effect unless you press the pedal firmly past the point of resistance.
The
  speed   limiter   is   deactivated   temporarily   and   the   programmed   speed,
 w

hich   is   still   displayed,   flashes.
Returning
  to   the   programmed   speed,   by   means   of   intentional   or   unintentional
 d

eceleration   of   the   vehicle,   automatically   cancels   the   flashing   of   the
 pro

grammed
 s
peed.

teep descent or in the event of
sharp   acceleration,   the   speed   limiter  w
ill not be able to prevent the vehicle
from   exceeding   the   programmed  
s

peed.
To
  avoid   any   risk   of   jamming   of   the

o   not   fit   one   mat   on   top   of   another.
Leaving limiter mode

isplay   returns   to   the   distance   recorder.
Operating fault
In the event of a speed limiter fault, the speed is   cleared   resulting   in   flashing   of   the   dashes.

Cruise control
System which automatically maintains the speed   of   the   vehicle   at   the   value   programmed

The cruise control is switched on

(

40   km/h),   as   well   as   the   engagement   of:

ourth   gear   on   a   manual   gearbox,

earbox,   in   sequential   mode,

  on   an   electronic   gearbox   or

The cruise control is switched off

n   triggering   of   the   ESP   system   for   safety

easons.

  is   possible   to   exceed   the   programmed   speed

Rear parking sensors
System consisting of four proximity sensors, located   in   the   rear   bumper.
This detects any obstacle (person, vehicle,
tree,
  gate,   etc.)   behind   the   vehicle,   except  
o

bstacles   located   just   below   the   bumper.
An object, such as a stake, a roadworks cone   or   any   other   similar   object   may b

e   detected   at   the   beginning   of   the
 m

anoeuvre,   but   may   no   longer   be   detected
 w

hen   the   vehicle   comes   close   to   it.
The parking sensor system cannot in any   circumstances   take   the   place   of  
v

igilance   on   the   part   of   the   driver.
The
 
system   is   activated   as   soon   as   reverse  
g

ear
 
is   engaged,   accompanied   by   an   audible  
s

ignal.   The   proximity   information   is   given   by:
-
 
a

n   audible   signal,   which   becomes   more  
r

apid as the vehicle approaches the
obstacle.
-
 
a

 
graphic   (according   to   version)   in   the  
m

ultifunction   screen,   with   blocks   which  
b

ecome   increasingly   closer   to   the   vehicle.
Activation
When the distance between the rear of the vehicle
and
  the   obstacle   is   less   than   thirty   centimetres,   the a

udible   signal   becomes   continuous   and   the   "Danger"
 s

ymbol   appears   in   the   multifunction   screen.
On
  completion   of   the   manoeuvre,   when   you   exit
 r

everse   gear,   the   system   becomes   inactive.
