Valet parking
T he valet parking feature protects the lug ­
gage comportment from unauthorized access from the outside.

• Remove the mechanical key

• Open the glove compartment and activate
c> fig . 35 the "valet parking " feature by
pressing the
I VA LE T I button. The ind icator
light i n the switch illuminates.
• Close the glove compartment and lock it
with the mechanical key .
• Leave the master key with the service per ­
sonnel for parking and keep the mechanical
key w ith you.
When the "valet parking" feature is activated :
- the un locking bu tton for the rea r lid~ in
the d river 's doo r is i nactive
- the button~ on the maste r key is inactive
- the open ing hand le in the rear lid is i nactive.
The vehicle can be driven and locked and un­ locked with the master key . Access to the lug­
gage compartment is blocked from the out ­
side.
When the valet parking function is switched
on, the message
V al et parking a ctivated ap­
pears in the instrument cluster disp lay when
you switch the ign it io n on .

• To t ilt the sunroof completely, press the
sw itch br iefly to the second level briefly.
• To close the sun roof comp letely, pull the
sw itch br iefly to the second level

pull the switch to the first level unti l the de­
sired position is reached .
@ Opening /sliding (version 1 )
• To move the roof into the reduced w ind
noise posit ion, press the button back briefly
to the second leve l. The roo f will open all
the way if you press the button back to the
second level again.
• To close the sunroof comp letely, press the
sw itch forward briefly to the second level

pull the sw itch forward/back to the first lev­
el unt il the desired position is reached.

sw itch back to just before the seco nd level.

T he sun shade can be opened and closed by
hand when the sunroof is closed . T he solar

protection opens automatically when the s un­
roof opens .
You ca n still close or open the s unroof for up
t o ten m in utes after yo u have sw itched the ig­
n ition
off . The switch is deac tivated once the
driver's or front passenger's door is opened .
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when closing the
sliding/tilting sunroof - otherwise ser io us
injury cou ld result! A lways take the key
w ith you when leaving the vehicle .
(D Note
Always close your sliding/tilting sunroof
when leav ing you r vehicle. Sudden rain can
cause damage to the interior equipment of
your veh icle, part icu larly the elect ronic
equ ipment .
(D Tips
The slid ing/tilt ing sunroof will only open
at temperatures above -4°F ( -20°() .
Emergency closing of the sliding/tilting
sunroof
If the sun roof detec ts an objec t in its path
when i t is closing, it will open again a utomat i­
cally. In this case, yo u can close the roof w it h
the power emergency closing function .

Warm and cold Four-zone automatic
climate control
Description
Applies to vehicles: with four-zone automat ic climate co n­
tro l
The climate control system warms, cools and
adds humidity to the a ir in the veh icle inter io r.
It is the most effect ive when the windows and
sunroof* are closed.
If the temperature inside
the parked vehicle becomes very warm, open­ ing the window briefly will speed up the cool­
ing process.
I n all heating mode functions except
defrost,
the blower on ly switches to a higher speed
once the engine coolant has reached a certain
temperature.
Condensation from the cooling system can
drip and form a puddle of water under the ve­
hicle. This is normal and does not mean there
is a leak.
Pollutant filt er
The po llutant filter removes pollutants such
as dust and pollen from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at
the intervals spec ified in your Wa rranty
&
Maintenance book let, so that the air condi ­
tioner can properly work.
I f you d rive your vehicle in an area with h igh
air po llution, the fi lter may need to be
changed more frequent ly than specified in
your Audi Warranty
& Maintenance booklet. If
in doubt, ask your authorized Audi Service Ad·
visor for advice.
Key coded setting s
The clima te control sett ings are a utomat ica lly
stored and assigned to the remote contro l key
that is in use .

A WARNING

Reduced visibi lity is dangerous and can
cause acc idents .
- For safe driving it is very important that
all windows be free of ice, snow and con­
densat ion.
- Comp letely fam il iarize yourse lf with the
proper use and funct ion of the heat ing
a nd ventilation system and especially
how to defog and defrost the w indows.
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer system in freez ing weathe r unt il you
have warmed the windshie ld first, using
the heating and ventilation system. The
washer sol ution may freeze on the wind­
shie ld and red uce visibi lity.

- If you s uspect that the air conditioner
has been damaged, switch the system
off to avoid furt her damage and have it
inspected by a qualified dea lership .
- Repairs to the Audi air conditioner re­
quire specia l technical know ledge and
special tools. Contact an authorized Audi
dealer fo r ass istance.
@ For the sake of the envi ronment
By reducing the amount of f uel you use,
you also red uce the amount of pollutants
emitted into the air.
(D Tips
- Keep the air intake s lo ts ( in front of the
w indshield) free from ice, snow and de­
bris in order to maintain the proper func­
tion of the climate control system.
- The energy ma nagement system may
switch the seat heating* or rear window defroster off temporar ily. These systems
are available again as soon as the energy
balance has been restored .
- Air escapes through vents under the rear window. When plac ing items of cloth ing
on the luggage compartment cover, en­
sure that the openings are not covered.

Audi pre sense Preventative passenger
protection
App lies to veh icles: with Audi p re se nse
Audi pre sense can initiate steps to help pro­
tect vehicle occupants in certain situations.
The funct ions descr ibed depend on equipment
installed in your vehicle:
Audi pre sense basic*
The following functions can be triggered in
certain driving situations:
- Tightening of the safety belts (for example,
during heavy braking) : the front safety belts
have reversible belt pretensioners. If a colli ­
sion does not occur, the safety belts loosen
slightly and are ready to be tightened again.
- Closing the windows and the sunroof* : the
windows and the sunroof* close leaving a
small open gap .
Audi pre sense basic functions can be trig­
gered at speeds above 20 mph (30 km/h).
Vehicles with Audi drive select*: the deploy­
ment time is adapted in Dynamic mode.
Audi pre sense front (vehicles with
adaptive cruise control*)
Audi pre sense front includes the functions in
Audi pre sense basic. In addition, within the limits of the system, the likelihood of a colli­
sion with the vehicle immediately ahead is al­
so calculated . If the system senses an immi­
nent collision the following functions can be
tr iggered:
- Braking guard

- Closing the windows and the sunroof* ( leav-
ing a small open gap)
Audi pre sense rear (vehicles with Audi
side assist*)
Audi pre sense rear includes the functions in
Audi pre sense basic. In addition, the likeli­
hood of a rear-end col lision with the vehicle
coming from behind is also calculated. If the
Audi pre sense 187
risk of a collision is detected, the following
functions can be triggered:
- Tightening the safety belts
- Closing the windows and the sunroof* (leav-
ing a small open gap)
Audi pre sense plus*
Audi pre sense plus includes the functions in
Audi pre sense front and Aud i pre sense rear .
Error message
Audi pre sense: not available
Preventative passenger protection is not avail­
able. See your authorized Audi dealer immedi­
ate ly to have the malfunction corrected.
A WARNING

Audi pre sense cannot overcome the laws
of physics. It cannot prevent a collision. Do
not let the increased safety provided
tempt you to take risks . This will increase
the risk of a coll is ion and serious personal
injuries .
- The sensors cannot always detect all ob­ jects. This increases the risk of a colli­
s10n .
- Aud i pre sense does not detect people or
an imals or objects that are crossing the
veh icle's path

-The radar sensor's v is ion can be reduced
by heavy rain, ice, snow, heavy road spray
and reflections from guard rails, tunnel
entrances, etc. These and similar condi­
tions can prevent vehicles from being ac ­
curately detected and in some cases they may not be detected at all.
Q) Note
The sensors can be displaced by impacts or
damage to the bumper, wheel housing and
underbody. This can affect the function of
the Audi pre sense system. Have your au­
thorized Audi dealer check to make sure
that the system is working properly.

Vehicle care and clean ing
General information
Regular, proper care helps to maintain yo ur
ve hicle 's value. It can also be a requirement
when subm itting wa rranty claims for corro ­
sion damage and paint defects on the body .
The required cleaning and care prod ucts can
be obtained from your authorized Audi dea ler
or a qualified workshop . Read and follow the
i nstructions for use o n the packaging.

Car washes

The longer that deposits such as insects, bird
d rop pings , tree sap o r road sa lt rema in on the
ve hicl e, the more t he surface can be dam­
aged. High tempe rat ures such as those
caused by s unlight in cr ease t he corrosive ef­
fect.

Pressure wa shers
When washing your ve hicles w ith a pressure
washer, always follow the operating instruc­
tions provided w ith the pressure washe r. Th is
i s especially important in rega rd to t he pres ­
sure and sprayi ng di sta nce. Do not aim the
sp ray d irectly at seals on side w indows, doors,

ti res , rubber hoses, insulating material, sen­
sors * or camera lenses *. Keep a d istance o f at
l east 16 inches (40 cm).

Automatic car washes
Spray off the ve hicle before washing.
Make sure that the w indows and roof * are
closed and the winds hield wipers are
off . Fol ­
low instructions from the car wash operator,
especially if there are accessories attached to
you r vehicle.
If possible, use car washes that do not have
brushes .
Only use car washes where the vehicle re ­
mai ns stat io na ry an d the was hing equipmen t
moves around the ve hicle when washing and
drying. Car washes that m ove t he vehicle
thro ugh the car wash using a chain are not
recommended.
Wa shing by hand
Clean t he ve hic le starting from the top and
wor king down us ing a soft sponge or cleaning
brush. Use solvent-free clean ing products .
Washing vehicles with matte finish paint
by hand
To avoid damaging the paint when washing,
first remove dust and large particles from
you r vehicle. Insects, grease spots and fi nger­
pri nts are best removed w ith a spec ial cleane r
fo r matte finish paint .
Apply the prod uct using a microfiber cloth. To
avo id damag ing the pa int surface, do not use
too much pressure.
Rinse the vehicle thoro ughly with water. Then
clean using a neutra l shampoo and a soft mi-
