formation system, for example when down­
shifting.

failed. The message indicates the location of
the bu lb.

a fo g lig ht has failed. The position of the in­
dicator light corresponds with the location
on the vehicle .

II indicato r light also turns on, then
a rear fog * light has failed. The position of
the indicator light corresponds with the lo­
cation on the vehicle .
T his wa rning can also occur if the light switch
is in an unengaged position between two sym­
bols.

tion in the headlights or light sw itch .
Drive to your authori zed Audi dealer immedi-

If the indicator light turns on and this mes­
sage appears, there is a malfunction in the
adaptive light system. The headlights still
function.
Go to an authorized dealership to have the
headlights or the control unit for the adaptive
light repaired .
@..D light/rain sensor
Applies to vehicles: with light/rain sensor

If the indicator light turns on and this mes­
sage appears, the light/rain sensor is not
functioning correctly.
For safety reasons the low beams are turned
on permanently with the switch in
AUTO.
However, you can continue to turn the lights on and off
using the light switch . You can still
control all functions that are independent of
the rain sensor through the windshield wiper lever .
Contact your authorized Audi dealer as soon
as possible to have the problem corrected.
Q Adaptive dampers
Applies to vehicles: with Aud i drive select and adaptive
dampers
II Suspension: System fault!
If the II symbol in the display comes on,
there is a malfunction in the adaptive damp­
ers. Please go to an authorized Audi dealer or
qualified workshop to have the malfunction
repaired.
H Sport differential
Appl ies to vehicles: with Aud i drive select and spo rt dif ­
ferential
Sport differential: System fault!
There is a malfunction with the sport differen­
tial.
Drive to your authorized Audi dealer immedi­
ately to have the malfunction corrected .
Sport differential: Overheating
The transmission temperature has increased
significantly due to the sporty driving manner.
Drive in a less sporty manner until the tem­
perature returns to the normal range and the
indicator light switches of.

Contact your authorized Audi dealer or
qualified workshop if the sport differential is faulty or malfunctioning . The repair
must be performed by trained personnel
using the correct oil in order to ensure
safety.

The highe r the sensitivity of the rain sensor* is
set (switch @to the right), the earlier the
windshie ld w ipers react to moistu re on the
windshie ld. In some models, you can switch

for manually switc hing the wipers on ac­
cording to the vi sibility cond itions.
- The windsh ield may not b e treated with
wate r-repell ing windsh ield coating

we tnes s, d arkn ess, low sun, can result in

temperatures when t he ignit ion is on.
- When stopping temporarily, (e .g . at a
traff ic light) the set speed of the wind­
shield wipers is automatically red uced by
one speed.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
C lea n the w indshield wiper blades when they
begin to leave streaks . Use a soft cloth and
g lass cleaner to clean the winds hield wiper
b lades.

-To help prevent damage to the wiper sys ­
tem, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windsh ield before operat ing
wipers.
- To he lp prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline , kerosene, pa int
th inner, or other solvents on or near the
wipe r blades.
- To he lp prevent damage to the wiper
arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipers by hand.

- Commerc ial hot waxes applied by auto­
matic car washes affect the how easily
the glass surface can be cleaned .
- You can also use the service pos ition, for
example, if you want to protect the
windsh ield from ic ing by using a cover .
Digital compass

The compass direction is shown in the rear­

Regular, proper care helps to maintain your
ve hicle 's value. It can also be a requirement
when subm itting warranty claims for corro ­
sion damage and paint defects on the body .
The required cleaning and care prod ucts can
be obtained from your authorized Audi dea ler
or qualified workshop . Read and follow t he in ­
structions fo r use on the pac kaging .

Car washes

The longer that depos its suc h as insects, bird
d roppings , tree sap o r road salt rema in on the
ve hicl e, the more the su rface can be dam­
aged. High tempe ra tur es such as those
c a used by s unligh t increase the cor rosive ef­
fect.
B efore was hing, wet heavy deposits w ith p le n­
ty of water.
A lso , wash the underside of your vehicle once
r oad salt stops be ing used fo r th e season .
Pressure wa shers
When washing your veh icles w ith a pressure
washer, always follow the operating instruc­
tions provided w ith the pressure washe r. Th is
i s especially important in rega rd to t he pres ­
sure and spray ing distance . Do not aim the
spray d irectly at seals o n side w indows, doors, the
hood, the rear lid o r the sunroo f* or at
t ir es , rub ber hoses, insu lating mate rial, sen­
sors * or camera lenses *. Keep a d istance o f at
l east 16 inches (40 cm).
Do not remove snow and ice wi th a p ressu re
washe r.
Never use rota ry no zzle s or high pressure noz­
z les.

Automatic car washes
Spray off the ve hicle before washing.
Make sure that the w indows and roof * are
closed and the winds hield wipers are off . Fo l­
l ow instructions from the car wash operator,
especially if there are accessories attached to
your vehicle.
If possible, use car washes that do not have
brushes .
Washing by hand
Clean the ve hicl e starting from the top and
working down using a soft sponge or cleaning
brush . Use solvent-f ree cleaning products.
Washing vehicles with matte finish paint
by hand
To avoid damaging the paint when washing,
first remove dust and la rge particles from
yo ur vehicle. Insects, grease spots and finger­
pri nts are best removed with a special cleaner
for matte finish paint .
Apply the p rod uct us ing a microfiber cloth . To
avo id damag ing the pa int surface, do not use
too much pressure.
Rinse the ve hicl e thoro ughly with water . Then
clean usi ng a neutral shampoo and a soft mi­
crof iber cloth.
Rinse t he vehi cle thoroughly again and le t it
air dry . Remove any wa ter residue using a
shammy.
