Engine oil level indicator*
The level read will only be cor -
rect if the vehicle is on level
ground
and
the
engine
has
been
of
f for more than 30 minutes.Oil level correct
This
is
indicated
by
the
flashing
of
"
OIL"
or
the
display
of
a
message,
accompa
-
nied
by
the
service
warning
lamp
and
an
audible signal.
If
the
low
oil
level
is
confirmed
by
a
check
using
the
dipstick,
the
level
must
be
topped
up
to
avoid
damage
to
the
engine.
Refer
to the "Checking levels" section.Oil level indicator fault
In the event of a fault with the electric
indicator,
the
oil
level
is
no
longer
moni
-
tored.
If
the
system
is
faulty
,
you
must
check
the
engine
oil
level
using
the
manual
dipstick
located under the bonnet.
Refer to the "Checking levels" section.
Oil level incorrect
This
is
signalled
by
the
flashing
of
"
OIL--" or the display of a message.
Contact
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
quali
-
fied workshop.
On
versions
fitted
with
an
electric
oil
level
indicator
,
the
state
of
the
engine
oil
level
is
displayed
in
the
instrument
panel
for
a
few
seconds,
at
the
same
time
as the servicing information.

CHECKING LEVELS
Take care when working under the bonnet, as certain areas of
the
engine
may
be
extremely
hot
(risk
of
burns)
and
the
cooling
fan
could
start
at
any
time
(even
with
the ignition off).
The
check
is
carried
out
either
when
the
ignition
is
switched
on
using
the
oil
level
indicator
in
the
instrument
panel
for
ve
-
hicles with an electric oil level
gauge,
or using the dipstick.
Engine oil level
Checking using the dipstick
Refer
to
the
"Petrol
engine"
or
"Diesel
engine"
section
for
the
location
of
the
dipstick
in
the
engine
compartment
of
your
vehicle.
F
T
ake
the
dipstick
by
its
coloured
grip
and
remove it completely.
F
Wipe
the
end
of
the
dipstick
using
a
clean
non-fluffy cloth.
F
Refit
the
dipstick
and
push
fully
down,
then
pull
it
out
again
to
make
the
visual
check:
the
correct
level
is
between
the marks A and B.
Check
all
of
these
levels
regularly
,
in
line
with
the
manufacturer's
service
schedule.
T
op
them
up
if
necessary
,
unless
otherwise
indicated.
If
a
level
drops
significantly
,
have
the
corresponding
system
checked
by
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
qualified
work
-
shop.
To
ensure
that
the
reading
is
correct,
your
vehicle
must
be
parked
on
a
level
surface
with
the
engine
having
been
of
f
for
more
than
30
minutes.
It
is
normal
to
top
up
the
oil
level
be
-
tween
two
services
(or
oil
changes).
CITROËN
recommends
that
you
check
the
level,
and
top
up
if
necessary
,
every
3
000
miles
(5
000
kms). A
= MAX
B
= MIN If
you find that the level is above the A
mark or below the B mark, do not start
the engine.
-
If
the
level
is
above
the
MAX
mark
(risk
of
damage
to
the
engine),
con
-
tact
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
quali
-
fied
workshop.

If
the
level
is
below
the
MIN
mark,
you
must top up the engine oil.
Oil grade
Before
topping-up
the
oil
or
changing
the
oil,
check
that
the
oil
is
the
correct
grade
for
your
engine
and
conforms
to
the
manufacturer's recommendations.

Brake fluid level
Changing the fluid
Refer
to
the
manufacturer's
service
schedule
for
details
of
the
interval
for
this
operation.
Fluid specification
The
brake
fluid
must
conform
to
the
manufacturer's
recommendations.
Power steering fluid level
The power steering fluid level should
be close to the "MAX" mark.
With
the
engine
cold,
un
-
screw
the
cap
to
check
the
level.
Coolant level
The coolant level should be close
to the "MAX" mark but
should
never exceed it.
When
the
engine
is
warm,
the
temperature
of
the
coolant
is
regulated
by
the
fan.
In
addition,
as
the
cooling
system
is
pressurised,
wait
at
least
one
hour
after
switching
of
f
the
engine
before
carrying
out
any
work.
To
avoid
any
risk
of
scalding,
unscrew
the cap by two turns to allow the pres
-
sure
to
drop.
When
the
pressure
has
dropped,
remove
the
cap
and
top
up
the
level.
Fluid specification
The
coolant
must
conform
to
the
manu
-
facturer's
recommendations.
The cooling fan may start after
switching off the engine: take
care with articles and clothing
that might be caught by the
fan blades.
The
brake
fluid
level
should
be
close
to
the
"MAX"
mark.
If
it
is
not,
check
the
brake
pad
wear.
Topping up the engine oil level
Refer
to
the
"Petrol
engine"
or
"Diesel
engine"
section
for
the
location
of
the
oil
filler
cap
in
the
engine
compartment
of
your
vehicle.

Unscrew
the
oil
filler
cap
to
reveal
the
filler
aperture.
F
Add
oil
in
small
quantities,
avoiding
any
spills
on
engine
components
(risk
of
fire).
F
W
ait
a
few
minutes
before
checking
the
level
again
using
the
dipstick.
F
Add
more
oil
if
necessary.
F
After
checking
the
level,
carefully
refit
the
oil
filler
cap
and
the
dipstick
in
its
tube.
After
topping
up
the
oil,
the
check
when
switching
on
the
ignition
with
the
oil
level
indicator
in
the
instrument
panel
is
not
valid
during
the
30
minutes
after
topping
up.
Engine oil change
Refer
to
the
manufacturer's
service
schedule
for
details
of
the
interval
for
this
operation.
In
order
to
maintain
the
reliability
of
the
engine
and
emission
control
system,
never
use
additives
in
the
engine
oil.

Automatic gearbox
The gearbox does not re -
quire any maintenance (no oil
change).
Refer
to
the
manufacturer's
service
schedule
for
details
of
the
level
checking
interval
for
this
component.
Electric parking brake
This system does not require any
routine servicing. However ,
in
the
event
of
a
problem,
have
the
system
checked
by
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
qualified
work
-
shop.
Manual parking brake
Only use products recommended by
CITROËN or products of equiva -
lent
quality and specification.
In order to optimise the opera -
tion of units as important as
those
in
the
braking
system,
CITROËN
selects
and
of
fers
very
specific products.
After
washing
the
vehicle,
damp
-
ness,
or
in
wintry
conditions,
ice
can
form
on
the
brake
discs
and
pads:
braking
efficiency
may
be
reduced.
Make
light
brake
ap
-
plications
to
dry
and
defrost
the
brakes.
If a loss of ef
fectiveness of this
system
is
noticed,
the
parking
brake
must
be
checked,
even
between
two
services.
Checking
this
system
must
be
done
by
a
CITROËN
dealer
or
a
quali
-
fied
workshop.
Brake pads
Brake wear depends on the style
of driving, particularly in
the
case
of
vehicles
used
in
town,
over
short
distances.
It
may
be
necessary
to
have
the
condition
of
the
brakes
checked,
even
between
vehicle services.
Unless
there
is
a
leak
in
the
circuit,
a
drop
in
the
brake
fluid
level
indicates
that
the
brake pads are worn.

Removing the cartridge
F Stow the black pipe.

Detach
the
angled
base
from
the
white
pipe.

Support
the compressor vertically.

Unscrew the cartridge from the bottom.
F Connect the compressor's electri -
cal connector to the vehicle's 12 V
socket.

Start
the
vehicle
and
let
the
engine
run.

Adjust
the
pressure
using
the
com
-
pressor
(to
inflate:
switch

sition "I";
to
deflate:

press

according
to
the
vehicle's
tyre

sure
label

the
accessory's

Remove
the kit then stow it.
Beware
of
discharges
of
fluid.
The
expiry
date
of
the
fluid
is
in

dicated
on
the
cartridge.
The
sealant
cartridge
is
designed
for
single
use;
even
if
only
partly
used,
it
must
be
replaced.
After
use,
do
not
discard
the
car
-
tridge
into
the
environment,
take
it
to
an
authorised
waste
dispos
-
al
site
or
a
CITROËN
dealer.
Do
not
forget
to
obtain
a
new
sealant
cartridge,
available
from
CITROËN
dealers
or
from
a
qualified
workshop.
Checking tyre pressures /
inflating accessories
You can also use the compressor , with -
out injecting any product, to:

check
or
adjust
the
pressure
of
your
tyres,
-
inflate
other
accessories
(balls,
bi
-
cycle
tyres...).

"Air"

Uncoil
the
black
pipe

Connect
the
black
pipe
to
the
valve
of
the
wheel
or
accessory
.
If
necessary
,
fit
one
of
the
adaptors
supplied
with the kit first.
