Turn the knob to the desired position :
Q/P -In t his position , you can adjust the
driver's and front passenger's exter ior mirrors
by turn ing the knob in the des ired direction.

To help you see the curb when backing into a pa rking space, the surface of the m irror t ilts
slightly . The knob m ust be in the

You can adjust the ti lted mirror surface by
turning the knob in the desired direction .
When you move out of reverse and into anoth­
e r gear, the new mirror posi tion is stored and
assigned to the key you are using.
The mirror goes back into its origina l posit io n
once yo u drive forward f aster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or switch the ignition off .
_& WARNING
Curved mirror s urfaces (convex or spheri ­
cal *) increase your field of view . Remem­
ber that vehicles or other objects will ap­
pear smaller and farther away than when
seen in a flat m irror. If you use this mirror
to estimate distances of following veh icles
when changing lanes, you could estimate incorrectly and cause an accident .

- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
ca r wash, you must fold the exterior m ir ­
r o rs in to reduce the r isk of damage to
the mirrors .

d imm ing mirrors if the glass is broken .
Electrolyte fluid can irr itate skin, eyes and
r espiratory system.
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to e lec­
trolyte can cause irritation to the respira­
tory system, especially among people
with asthma or o ther resp ira to ry condi­
tions . Get fresh air immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle or, if that is no t possib le,
open windows and doors all the way.
- If electroly te gets into the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with large amounts of
clean water for at least 15 minutes; medical attention is recommended.
- If electrolyte contacts skin, fl ush affect­
ed area with clean water for at least 15
minutes and then wash affected area
with soap and water; medical attention
is recommended. Thoroughly wash af ­
fected cloth ing and shoes before reuse.

- The ra in sensor is only intended to assist
the driver . The dr iver is still responsible

age nts. Unfavorable conditions, such as
wetness , darkness, low sun, can res ult in

- Prior to using a car wash, the win dshield

when the ignition is turned off . Activate

- Worn or dirty windsh ie ld w iper blades
r esult in streaking . T h is can affect the
r ain senso r* function . Ch eck your wind­
s h ield wiper blades regularly.
- The was her fluid nozzles of the wind­
s h ield washer system are heated at low
temper atures w hen the ignit ion i s on.
- When stop ping temporarily , (e.g. at a
traff ic light) the se t speed of the wi nd- shield wipers is automatically
reduced by
one s peed.

A WARNING
- If the windshield wipers smear the wind­
shield, clean the wiper blades with wind­
shield washer fluid .
If the wiper blades
are extremely dirty, you can also clean
them with a soft sponge or cloth.
- For your safety, you should replace the
wiper blades once or twice a year . See
your authorized Audi dealer for replace­ ment blades.
(D Note
- The windshield wiper blades must only
be replaced when in the service position!
Otherwise, you risk damaging the paint
on the hood or the windshield wiper mo­
tor.
- You should not move your vehicle or
press the windshield wiper lever when
the wiper arms are folded away from the
windshield. The windshield wipers would
move back into their original position
and could damage the hood and wind­
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper sys­
tem, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating
wipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other solvents on or near the
wiper blades.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipers by hand.
@ Tips
- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto­ matic car washes affect the how easily
the glass surface can be cleaned.
- You can also use the service position, for example, if you want to protect the
windshield from icing by using a cover .

Switching the compass on and off

The compass direction is shown in the rear­
view mirror.

The digital compass only works when the igni­
tion is on . The directions are indicated with

To prevent inaccurate compass readings,
do not bring any remote controls, electri­
cal devices or metallic objects near the mirror.

Adjusting the magnetic zone

The magnetic zone must be adjusted correctly
for the compass to read accurately .

the n umber of the magnetic zone appears in
the rearview m irror.
• Press the button @ repeated ly to select the
correct magnetic zone. The select ion mode
tu rns off afte r a few seconds.
Calibrating the compass

You must recalibrate the compass if it does
not display the correct direction.
• Press and ho ld the button @ until a Cap­
pears in the rearview mirror.
• Drive in a c ircle at about 6 mph (10 km/h)
until a direction is d isp layed in the rearview
mirror .

- To avoid endangering yo urself and other
dr ivers, calibrate the compass in a n area
where the re is no traff ic. -
The digital compass is to be used as a di­
rectional aid on ly. Even though you may
want to look at it while you are dr iving,
you must still pay attention to traffic, road and weather conditions as we ll as
other possible hazards.

dations
Why is your seat adjustment so important?
The safety belts and the airbag system can
only provide maximum protection if the front
seats are correctly adjusted.
There are various ways of adjusting the front
seats to provide safe and comfortable support
for the driver and the front passenger. Adjust
your seat properly so that :
- you can easily and quick ly reach all the
switches and controls in the instrument
panel
- your body is properly supported thus reduc­ ing physical stress and fatigue
- the safety belts and airbag system can offe r
maximum protection

In the following sections, you will see exactly
how you can best adjust your seats .
There are special regulations and instructions
for installing a child safety seat on the front passenger's seat. Always follow the informa­
tion regard ing child safety provided in
¢ page 158, Child Safety.

Incorrect seating position of the dr iver and
all other passengers can result in serious
personal injury.
- Always keep your feet on the floor when
the vehicle is in motion -never put your
feet on top of the instrument panel, out of the w indow or on top of the seat cush­
ion. This app lies especially to the passen-

gers . If your seating position is incorrect,
you increase the risk of injury in the case
of sudden braking or an accident . If the
airbag inflates and the seating position
is incorrect, this cou ld result in pe rsonal
in jury or even death.
- It is important for both the driver and front passenger to keep a distance of at least 10 inches (25 cm) between them­
selves and the steering wheel and/or in­
s trumen t panel. If you're s itting any
closer than th is, the airbag system can ­
not protect you properly. In addition, the
front seats and head restraints m ust be
adj usted to your body height so that they
can give you max imum protect ion.
- Always try to keep as much distance as
possible between yourself and the steer­
ing wheel or instrument panel.
- Do not adjust the driver's or front pas­ senger's seat whi le the vehicle is moving.
Your seat may move unexpectedly, caus­
ing sudden loss of veh icle control and
pe rsonal injury. If you adjust you r seat
while the veh icle is moving, you are ou t
of po sit ion.
Driver's seat
The correct seat position is important for safe
and relaxed driving .
We recommend that you adjust the dr iver's
seat in the follow ing manner:
.., Adjust the seat in fore and aft direction so
that you can easily push the pedals to the
floor wh ile keeping your knees slightly bent

A WARNING
Never place any objects in the driver's foot­
well. An object could get into the pedal area and interfere with pedal function. In
case of sudden braking or an accident, you
would not be able to brake or accelerate .
Front passenger's seat
Always move the front passenger seat into
the rearmost position .
To avoid contact with the airbag while it is de­
ploying, do not sit any closer to the instru­
ment panel than necessary and always wear
the three-point safety belt provided adjusted correctly . We recommend that you adjust the
passenger's seat in the following manner:
• Bring the backrest up to an (almost) upright
position. Do not ride with the seat reclined .
• Applies to vehicles with adjustable head re­
straints: Adjust the head restraint so the up­
per edge is as even as possible with the top
of your head . If that is not possible, try to
adjust the head restraint so that it is as
close to this position as possible

senger's seat while the vehicle is moving.
If you do this while the vehicle is moving,
you will be out of position . Always adjust
the driver's or front passenger's seat
when the vehicle is not mov ing.
- Be careful when adjusting the seat
height . Check to see that no one is in the
way, or serious injury could result!
- Because the seats can be electrically ad­
justed with the ignition off or with the
ignition key removed, never leave chil­
dren unattended in the vehicle. Unsuper­
vised use of the electric seat adjust­
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pas ­
sengers must never ride in a moving ve­
hicle with the backrest reclined. Safety
belts and the airbag system only offer maximum protection when the backrest
is upright and the safety belts are prop­
erly positioned on the body. The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the
risk of personal injury from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posi­
tioned safety belts.

Seat memory
Description

The memory funct ion allows you to quickly
and easily store and recall personal seating
profiles for the driver. The memory function is
operated through the master key and the
memory buttons in the driver's door .
The driver's seating profile is stored and as­
signed to the master key each time the vehicle is locked. The seating profile is recalled auto­
matically when the vehicle is unlocked . If two
people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master key.
Up to 2 seat profiles can be stored in the
memory buttons in the driver's door . Once
they are stored, these seat profiles can be se­ lected at any time.
In addition to the driver's seat settings, you
can also store and access the exterior mirror
adjustment settings* using the remote con­
tro l key or memory button.
