~ Press and hold the button !o::s I for at least
four seconds to store the new open position.
A visual and audio signal will follow.
The settings in the MMI determine if the rear lid can be opened using the handle ¢
page 35.
Opening will be stopped immediately when:
- You press the button
la l on the remote con-
trol master key, or
- You press the button
la l in the rear lid, or
- You push the handle in the rear lid, or
- You pull the button
l.:::s ! in the driver's door,
or
- When something blocks the rear lid or
makes it difficult for the lid to move.
If you press one of the buttons ~now, the
rear lid will either open or close, depending on
its angle .

You can manually stop the automatic open­ ing/closing of the rear lid. The automatic clos­
ing process begins if you push down on the
rear lid.
A WARNING
-After closing the rear lid, always pull up
on it to make sure that it is properly
closed. Otherwise it could open suddenly
when the vehicle is moving .
- To help prevent poisonous exhaust gas
from being drawn into the vehicle, al­
ways keep the rear lid closed while driv­
ing. Never transport objects larger than
those which fit completely into the lug­
gage area, because then the rear lid can­
not be fully closed.

- Never leave your vehicle unattended es­
pecially with the rear lid left open. A
child could crawl into the car through the luggage compartment and pull the lid
shut, becoming trapped and unable to
get out . To reduce the risk of personal in­
jury, never let children play in or around
your vehicle. Always keep the rear lid as
well as the vehicle doors closed when not
in use.
- Never close the rear lid inattentively or
without checking first. Although the
closing force of the rear lid is Limited,
you can still seriously injure yourself or
others .
- Always ensure that no one is within
range of the rear lid when it is moving, in
particular close to the hinges and the up­
per and lower edges - fingers or hands
can be pinched .
- Never try to interfere with the rear lid or
help it when it is being opened or closed
automatically .
(D Note
The rear lid can bump into objects such as
the garage ceiling when opening and be­
come damaged.
(D Tips
-Audio signals are given when you close
the rear lid using the
l a! button in the
driver's door.
- If there is a mechanical problem with au­
tomatic closing for the rear lid or there is
an obstruction, it opens again immedi­
ately . Check to see why the rear lid could
not be closed before attempting to close
it again .
- The following applies to vehicles equip­
ped with the Convenience key* feature: if
the remote control key is left in the lug­
gage compartment, luggage compart­
ment will automatically unlock itself af­
ter you lock the vehicle. This prevents
you from unintentionally locking your
key in the luggage compartment. .,.

- When the vehicle is locked, the rear lid
can be un locked separate ly by pressing
the button ~ on the master key. W hen
the rear lid is closed aga in, it locks auto­
matically.
Rear lid emergency release
The rear lid con be released in on emergency

Child safety lock for
the rear doors
The power child safety lock locks the rear win­
dows and prevent the rear doors from being
opened from the inside .

To deact ivate the child safe ty lock for the
left/right rear door, press the left/right but­

T he following features are switched off:
- The inte rior door hand les in the rear doors,
- The power w indows in the rear doo rs,
- The inte rior lighting buttons .
In order to activate the ch ild safety lock on
the left and the r ight side , press the two safe­
ty buttons

-When you leave your veh icle -even if on­
ly briefly -always take the ignition key
with you . This applies partic ularly when
children remain in the vehicle . Otherwise
the ch ildren could start the engine or op­
erate electrical equ ipment (e.g. power
windows). The power windows are func­
t ional until the driver's door or passeng ­
er's door has been opened .
- Be careful when closing the wi ndows .
Check to see that no one is in the way, or
serious injury could result!
- When locking the veh icle from outs ide,
the vehicle must be unoccu pied s ince the
windows ca n no longer be opened i n an
eme rgency .
(0 Tips
- When you ope n the doors, the w indows
a utomat ica lly low er about 10 mm .
- When the window in the dr iver's or pas­
senger's door is completely open, it will
r aise approximate ly 25 mm when the
door is opened. The w indow will lower
again w hen you close the doo r.
- After the ignition has been switched off,
t h e windows can still be opened o r
closed for abou t 10 minu tes. The powe r
windows are not swi tched off un til the
drive r's door or passenge r's door has
been opened .
What to do after a malfunction
The one-touch open and close function must
be reactivated if the battery hos been discon ­
nected.
.. Pull and hold the power w indow switch un ­
t il the window is fully closed .
.. Re lease the switch and then p ull it again for
at least one second .

Valet parking
The valet parking feature protects the lug­
gage compor tment from unauthori zed access
from the outside.

The sun shade can be opened an d closed by
h a nd when the s unroo f is closed . The solar protection opens automat

You can still close or open the sunroof for up
to ten minutes a fter you have swi tched the ig­
nition off . The sw itch is deactivated once the
driver 's or front passenger's door is opened.
A WARNING
-
Pay careful attention when closing the
sliding/tilting sunroof - otherwise serious in jury c ould result! Always take t he key
with you w hen leav ing the ve hicle.

-
Always close your sliding/tilting sunroof
when leaving your veh icle. S udden rain can
cause damage to the interior equ ipment of
your vehicle, pa rticularly the e lectronic
equipment .
(D Tips
The sliding/t ilting sunroof will on ly open
at tempe ratu res above -4°F (-20°().
Emergency closing of the sliding/tilting
sunroof
If the s unroof detects an object in its path
when it is clos ing, it w ill open again automati­
ca lly. I n this case, you can close the roof with
t h e power emergency closing function.
.,. Within five seconds after the sunroo f opens
automatically, p ull the switc h until the roof
closes.

The headlights only wo rk when the ignition is
switched on. Wh ile start ing the eng ine o r
when switching off the ign ition, the head­
lights will go off and on ly the side marker
lights will be on .

war ning symbol in the dr iver information dis­
p lay is d isplayed

All-weather lights*
In vehicles with all-wea ther lights , the front
ligh ts are ad justed au tomatically so that yo u
are less like ly to see glare from your own
head lights , for example when driving on a wet
road.
Automatic h eadl ight range control*
T he head lights do not blind oncoming traffic
i f the veh icle load changes . The headligh t
range also adj usts automatically when brak­
ing and accelerating .
Light functions
The following light funct io ns are availab le de­
pend ing on vehicle equipment and o nly func­
tion when t he lig ht switch is in the AUTO posi­
tion . You can deactivate these functions in the
MMI under
Audi adaptive light c::> page 44.
Vehicles with St atic corn ering light* : the cor­
ner ing ligh t sw itches on a utomat ically when
the steering whee l is turned at a certain angle
at speeds up to approximately 44 mph
( 7 0 km/h) and when the turn signa l is activat ­
ed at speeds up to approximately 25 mph
(40 km/h) . The area to the side of the vehicle
is illum inated better when turn ing .
Vehicles with
Dynamic cu rve light* : the curve
light only functions at speeds between ap­
proximately 6 mph (10 km/h) and 68 mph
(110 km/h) and adapts itself to the curves in
the road .

& WARNING
-Automatic headlights are only intended
to assist the driver . They do not relieve
the driver of his responsibility to check
the headlights and to turn them on man­
ually according to the current light and
visibility conditions. For example, fog
cannot be detected by the light sensors.
So always switch on the headlights

under these weather conditions and
when driving in the dark.
- Crashes can happen when you cannot see
the road ahead and when you cannot be
seen by other motorists. Always turn on
theheadlightssothatyoucanseeahead and so that others can see your car from
the back .
- Please observe legal regulations when
using the lighting systems described .
(D Note
The rear fog lights should only be turned
on in accordance with traffic regulation, as
the lights are bright for following traffic.
{D) Tips
- The light sensor* for automatic head­
light range control* is located in the rear
view mirror mount . You should therefore
not apply any stickers to the windshield
in this area in order to prevent malfunc­
tions or failures .
- In the event of a light sensor malfunc ­
tion, the driver is notified in the instru­
ment cluster display ~
page 22 .
-You will hear a warning tone if you open
the driver door when the exterior lights
are switched on.
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of
the headlights, turn signals and tail lights can fog over due to the tempera­
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They will clear shortly after
switching them on. This does not affect
the service life of the lighting.
Emergency flasher
The emergency flasher makes other motorists
aware that you or your vehicle are in an emer­
gency situation .

When the emergency flasher is on, all four
turn signals blink at the same time. The turn

I:;,,. blink likewise. The emergen­
cy flashers also work when the ignition is
turned off.
The emergency flashers will turn on automati­
cally if you are in an accident where the airbag
has deployed.
@ Tips
You should turn on the emergency flashers
when:
- you are the last vehicle standing in a traf­
fic jam so that any other vehicles coming
can see you, or when
- your vehicle has broken down or you are
in an emergency situation, or when
-your vehicle is being towed by a tow
truck or if you are towing another vehicle
behind you.
Adjusting the exterior lighting
The settings ore adjusted in the MMI.

Automatic headlights
You can adjust the following settings in the
Automatic headlights menu:
Headlights activation time -You can adjust if
the headlights switch on
Early, Med . or Late
according to the sensitivity of the ligh t sensor.
Audi adaptive light* -You can switch adaptive
light
On and Off.
Daytime running lights
USA models:
You can switch the dayt ime run­
n ing lights
on and off .
Canada models :
The function cannot be
turned off . It is activated automatically each
time the ignition is switched on. This menu
item is shown "greyed out" .
Coming home, Leaving home
The coming home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when you switch the
ignition off and open the driver's door. To turn
the function on, select
Lights when leaving
car > On .
The leaving home function illuminates the
area outside the vehicle when you un lock the
vehicle. To turn the funct ion on, select
Lights
when unlocking car > On .
The coming home and leaving home functions
only operate when it is dark and the light
switch is in the
AUTO position. Clear

Turn signals and high beam lever
The lever on the left side of the steering col­
umn is used to operate the turn signals and
the high beam as well as
the headlight flash­
er.

The turn signal and high beam lever has the

Do not use the high beam or headlight
flasher if you know that these could blind
oncoming traffic.

vehicle, open a door or switch the ignition off.
The interior lighting turns off several seconds
after you close the doors, when you lock the
vehicle or when you sw itch the ignition on.
When a door is open, the light t urns off afte r
a few minutes.
