NOTICE
To prevent damage to the engine and its components
Do not let the indicator needle of the tachometer enter the red zone, which
indicates the maximum engine speed.
The engine may be overheating if the high engine coolant temperature
warning light comes on. In this case, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe
place, and check the engine after it has cooled completely. (P. 435)

Indicators and warning lights
The indicator and warning lights on the instrument cluster and cen-
ter panel inform the driver of the status of the vehicle’s various sys-
tems.

Warning lights
Warning lights inform the driver of malfunctions in any of the
vehicle’s systems. (P. 397)
*1: These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned to the ON
position (vehicles without smart entry & start system) or the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode
(vehicles with smart entry & start system) to indicate that a system
check is being performed. They will turn off after the engine is
started, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a sys-
tem if a light does not come on, or if the lights do not turn off. Have
the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional for details.

*3: When filled with less than 10 L per refueling, the fuel gauge may not
display accurately.

CAUTION
If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as ABS and the SRS airbag warning light
not come on when you start the engine, this could mean that these systems
are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in
death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional,
immediately if this occurs.

When storing a warning reflector and first-aid kit
The warning reflector and first-aid kit may not be able to be stored depend-
ing on the size or the shape of the cases.

Caution while driving
Vehicles with rear seat: Keep the luggage box closed. Injuries may result
in the event of an accident or sudden braking.
Vehicles without rear seat: Keep the deck board closed.

Check that the warning reflector and first-aid kit are properly fixed.

Does your vehicle need repair?
Be on the alert for changes in performance and sounds, and visual tip-offs
that indicate service is needed. Some important clues are:
Engine missing, stumbling, or pinging
Appreciable loss of power
Strange engine noises
A fluid leak under the vehicle (However, water dripping from the air condi-
tioning system after use is normal.)
Change in exhaust sound (This may indicate a dangerous carbon mon-
oxide leak. Drive with the windows open and have the exhaust system
checked immediately.)
Flat-looking tires, excessive tire squeal when cornering, uneven tire wear
Vehicle pulls to one side when driving straight on a level road
Strange noises related to suspension movement
Loss of brake effectiveness, spongy feeling brake pedal, pedal almost
touches the floor, vehicle pulls to one side when braking
Engine coolant temperature continually higher than normal
If you notice any of these clues, take your vehicle to any authorized Toyota
dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional, as
soon as possible. Your vehicle may need adjustment or repair.
CAUTION
If your vehicle is not properly maintained
It could result in serious damage to the vehicle and possible serious injury or
death.
Warning in handling of the battery
Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead com-
