Temperature control:
Turn the temperature control dial to set the desired
temperature. Turn the dial between the middle and the
ri\fht position to select the hot temperature. Turn the
dial between the middle and the left position to select
the cool temperature.
Heater operation
Heating:
This mode is used to direct heated air to the foot
outlets.

Bi-level heating:
This mode directs cool air from the side and center
vents and warm air from the foot outlets. When the
temperature control dial is turned to the maximum hot
or cool position, the air between the ventilators and the
foot outlets is the same temperature.

The air conditioner system should be operated for
approximately 10 minutes at least once a month. This
helps prevent dama\fe to the air conditioner system
due to the lack of lubrication.
Cooling:
This mode is used to cool and dehumidify the air.

Dehumidified defrosting/defogging:

2. Push the temperature control “

ton to set the desired temperature.
. To remove frost from the outside surface of the
windshield quickly, set the temperature to a high
temperature and the fan speed to the maximum
level.
. After the windshield is cleared, push the front
defogger “
” \futton again. (The indicator light
will turn off.)
. When the front defogger “
” \futton is pushed,
the air conditioner will automatically turn on when
the outside air temperature is a\fove í28C (288F)
to defog the windshield. The air recirculation mode
will automatically turn off. The outside air circula-
tion mode “
” will \fe selected to improve the
defogging performance.
Manual operation
The manual mode can \fe used to control the heater
and air conditioner to your desired settings. (“MAN-
UAL” will appear on the display.)
To turn off the heater and air conditioner, push the
“OFF” \futton. Fan speed control:
Push the fan speed control “
”/“” \futton. Push
the “” \futton to increase the fan speed. Push the
“” \futton to decrease the fan speed.
Push the “AUTO” \futton to change the fan speed to
the automatic mode.
Air flow control:
Push the “MO\bE” \futton to change the air flow mode.

— Air flows from the center and side ventila-tors and foot outlets.
— Air flows mainly from the foot outlets
— Air flows from the defogger outlets and footoutlets.
Temperature control:

Outside air circulation:
Push the outside air circulation “

will illuminate.) Automatic air intake control:
If the indicator light on either the outside air circulation

illuminated, push the \futton with the light illuminated to

SERVICING AIR CON\bITIONER
WARNING:
The air conditioner system contains refrigerant
under high pressure. To avoid personal injury,
any air conditioner service should be done only
by an experienced technician with the proper
equipment.
The air conditioner system in your vehicle is charged
with a refrigerant designed with the environment in
mind.
This refrigerant will not harm the earth’s ozone
layer. However, it may contri\fute in a small part to
glo\fal warming.
Special charging equipment and lu\fricant are required
when servicing your vehicle’s air conditioner. Using
improper refrigerants or lu\fricants will cause severe
damage to the air conditioner system. (See “Air
conditioner system refrigerant and lu\fricant” (P.9-4) .)

environmentally friendly air conditioner system.

Air conditioner filter (if equipped)
\fhe air conditioner s\bstem is equipped with an air
conditioner filter which collects pollen. \fo make sure
the air conditioner heats defogs, and ventilates
efficientl\b, replace the filter according the specified
maintenance intervals listed in a separate maintenance
booklet. \fo replace the filter, contact a RENAUL\f
dealer.
\fhe filter should be replaced if the air flow decreases
significantl\b or if windows fog up easil\b when operating
the heater or air conditioner.AUDIO OPERA\fION PRECAU\fIONS
WARNING:
Do not adjust the audio system while driving so
that full attention may be given to vehicle
operation.
\fhe audio s\bstem operates when the ignition switch is
in the “ACC” or “ON” position.
Radio
.Radio reception is affected b\b station signal
strength, distance from radio transmitter, build-
ings, bridges, mountains and other external
influences. Intermittent changes in reception
qualit\b normall\b are caused b\b these external
influences.
. Using a cellular phone in or near the vehicle ma\b
influence radio reception qualit\b.
Compact Disc (CD) pla\ber
.During cold weather or rain\b da\bs, the pla\ber ma\b
malfunction due to the humidit\b. If this occurs,
remove the CD from CD pla\ber and dehumidif\b or
ventilate the pla\ber completel\b.
. \fhe pla\ber ma\b skip while driving on rough roads.
. \fhe CD pla\ber sometimes ma\b not function when
the passenger compartment temperature is ex-
tremel\b high. Lower the temperature before use.
. Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight.
. CDs that are of poor qualit\b, or are dirt\b,
scratched, covered with fingerprints, or that have
pin holes ma\b not work properl\b.
