Installing/removing the wind screen
GWARNING
You could lose control of the vehicle and
injure yourself or others if you operate the
wind screen while driving.
Install or remove the wind screen only when
the vehicle is stationary.GWARNING
If the wind screen is not properly engaged and
the fastening levers are not folded outwards,
it could become detached while driving. There
is a risk of accident and injury.
Make sure that you push in the wind screen
up to the locking point and then fold the
fastening levers outwards.
! Install or remove the wind screen only
when the soft top is open. You could
otherwise damage the wind screen or the
vehicle interior.
! Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
only use wind screens which have been
tested and approved for Mercedes-Benz
vehicles. This helps to prevent damage to
the vehicle.
The wind screen protects against wind when
driving with the soft top open. It is secured
between the roll bars.
The wind screen is located in a bag on the
tank partition wall in the trunk.

The seat heating has switched off
prematurely or cannot be switched on. The
vehicle's electrical system voltage is too low
because too many electrical consumers are
switched on.
XSwitch off electrical consumers that you do
not need, such as the rear window
defroster or interior lighting.
Once the battery is sufficiently charged, the
seat heating will switch back on
automatically.AIRSCARF (Roadster)GWARNING
Very hot air can flow out of the AIRSCARF
vents in the head restraints when AIRSCARF
is in operation. This can cause burns on
unprotected skin near the AIRSCARF vents.
Make sure that you reduce the heater output
in time.
The AIRSCARF function warms the head and
neck area of vehicle occupants with warm air.
The warm air flows out of the holes in the head
restraints.

selected position when:
R the driver's door is closed.
R you press the Start/Stop button once.
When you close the driver's door with the
ignition switched on, the steering wheel is

store the setting with the memory function
( Y page 91).
Crash-responsive EASY-EXIT feature
If the crash-responsive EASY-EXIT feature is
triggered in an accident, the steering column
will move upwards when the driver's door is
opened. This occurs irrespective of the
position of the SmartKey in the ignition lock.
This makes it easier to exit the vehicle and
rescue the occupants.
The crash-responsive EASY-EXIT feature is
only operational if the EASY-EXIT/ENTRY
feature is activated in the on-board computer.

Adjusting the exterior mirrorsGWARNING
Exercise care when using the passenger-side
exterior rear view mirror. The mirror surface
is convex (outwardly curved surface for a
wider field of view). Objects in mirror are
closer than they appear. Check your interior
rear view mirror and glance over your
shoulder before changing lanes.
The convex exterior mirrors provide a larger
field of vision.

models and all standard and optional
equipment of your vehicle available at the

Overview of climate control systems
Important safety notes
GWARNING
Severe conditions (e.g. strong air pollution)
may require replacement of the filter before
its scheduled replacement interval. A clogged
filter will reduce the air volume to the interior
and the windows could fog up, impairing
visibility and endangering you and others.
Have a blocked filter replaced at a Mercedes-
Benz Center as soon as possible.
GWARNING
Follow the recommended settings for heating
and cooling given on the following pages.
Otherwise, the windows could fog up,
impairing visibility and endangering you and
others.
The automatic climate control regulates the
temperature and the humidity in the vehicle
interior and filters undesirable substances
out of the air.
Coupe: the automatic climate control is only
operational if the engine is running. Optimum
operation is achieved only when you drive
with the side windows closed.
Roadster: the automatic climate control is
only operational if the engine is running. The
system only works optimally when the side
windows and the roof are closed.
i Coupe: ventilate the vehicle for a brief
period during warm weather, e.g. using the
convenience opening feature ( Y page 77).
This will speed up the cooling process and
the desired vehicle interior temperature
will be reached more quickly.
Roadster: ventilate the vehicle for a brief
period during warm weather. This will
speed up the cooling process and the
desired vehicle interior temperature will be
reached more quickly.
i The integrated filter can filter out most
particles of dust, and completely filters out
pollen. A clogged filter reduces the amount
of air supplied to the vehicle interior. For
this reason, you should always observe the
interval for replacing the filter, which is
specified in the Maintenance Booklet. As it
depends on environmental conditions, e.g.
heavy air pollution, the interval may be
shorter than stated in the Maintenance
Booklet.104Overview of climate control systemsClimate control

R Set the temperature to 72 ‡ (22 † ).
R Only use the "defrosting" function briefly
until the windshield is clear again.
R Only use "air-recirculation" mode briefly,
e.g. if there are unpleasant outside odors
or when in a tunnel. The windows could
otherwise fog up as in air-recirculation
mode no fresh air is drawn into the vehicle.
R Use the MONO function if you want to
adopt the temperature and air distribution
settings from the driver's side for all
climate zones. The indicator lamp in the
º button lights up.
