When PRE-SAFE
®
Brake is activated, the mul-
tifunction display shows the Äsymbol as
long as the HOLD function is not activated
(Y page 186).
Vehicles with Active Parking Assist: if
PARKTRONIC is activated and you are driving
at a speed under 35 km/h, the jActive
Parking Assist symbol is shown instead of the
Ä symbol ( Ypage 194).
If the PRE-SAFE Brake: Sensors deacti‐ vated message appears, the radar sensor
system is deactivated.
X Check whether or not the radar sensor sys-
tem may be activated (Y page 398).
X Activate the radar sensor system

Lights Setting the brightness for the instrument
cluster lighting and switches
The lighting in the instrument cluster, in the
displays and the controls in the vehicle inte-
rior can be adjusted using the BrightnessDisplay/switches: function.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Settings menu.
X Press the :or9 button to select the
Light submenu.
X Press ato confirm.
X Press the :or9 button to select the
Brightness Display/Switches: func-
tion.
You will see the selected setting.
X Press ato confirm.
X Press the :or9 button to adjust the
brightness to any level from Level 1 to
Level 5 (bright).
X Press the aor% button to save the
setting.
If the light switch is set to Ã,Tor
L, the brightness is dependent upon
the brightness of the ambient light.
i The light sensor in the instrument cluster
automatically controls the brightness of
the multifunction display.
In daylight, the displays in the instrument
cluster are not illuminated. Switching the Daytime driving lights on/
off
The
Day lights function can only be
switched on with the engine turned off.

Switching the Intelligent Light System
on/off

been switched on, the cone of light and the
L symbol in the multifunction display

R extended range foglamps
If you set the dipped-beam headlamps for
driving on the right/left, the multifunction

Switching the automatic locking feature
on/off
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Settings menu.
X Press the :or9 button to select the
Vehicle submenu.
X Press ato confirm.
X Press the :or9 button to select the
Auto. door locks function.
Whe nthe Automatic door locks func-
tion is activated, the vehicle doors are dis-
played in red in the multifunction display.
X Press the abutton to save the setting.
If you activate the Automatic door locks function, the vehicle is centrally locked above
a speed of around 15 km/h.

Activating/deactivating the acoustic
locking confirmation
If you switch on the Acoustic Lock function,
an acoustic signal sounds when you lock the
vehicle.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Settings menu.
X Press the :or9 button to select the
Vehicle submenu.
X Press ato confirm.
X Press the :or9 button to select the
Acoustic Lock function.
If the Acoustic Lock function is activated,
the & symbol in the multifunction dis-
play lights up red.

Heating Auxiliary heating departure time

WARNING
Exhaust fumes are produced when the auxili-
ary heating is in operation. Inhaling these
exhaust fumes can be poisonous. You should
therefore switch off the auxiliary heating in
confined spaces without an extraction sys-
tem, e.g. a garage. G
WARNING
When operating the auxiliary heating parts of
the vehicle can get very hot. Make sure that
the exhaust system does not under any cir-

Brake is operational again.
If the display message does not disappear:
X Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, paying
attention to road and traffic conditions.
X Secure the vehicle against rolling away (Y page 165).
X Clean the sensors in the radiator trim and in the bumpers
(Y page 328).
X Restar tthe engine.
X AMG vehicles: reactivate ESP ®
