Exhaust Gas Hazard
Carbon Monoxide Gas The exhaust gas from this vehicle contains carbon monoxide. As long as you properly maintain your vehicle, carbon monoxide gas will not get into the interior.Have the Exhaust System Inspected for Leaks Whenever
■
The exhaust system is making an unusual noise.
●
The exhaust system may have been damaged.
●
The vehicle is raised for an oil change.
●
When you operate a vehicle with the hatch open, airflow can pull exhaust gas into the interior and create a hazardous condition. If you must drive with the hatch open, open both windows and set the climate control system as shown below. Select the fresh air mode.
1.
Select the
2.
mode.
Set the fan speed to high.
3.
Set the temperature control to a comfortable setting.
4. Adjust the climate control system in the same manner if you sit in your parked vehicle with the engine running.
Carbon Monoxide Gas
An enclosed area such as a garage can quickly ill up with carbon monoxide gas.Do not run the engine with the garage door closed.Even when the garage door is open, drive out of the garage immediately after starting the engine.
WARNING
Carbon monoxide gas is toxic. Breathing it can cause unconsciousness and even kill you. Avoid any enclosed areas or activities that expose you to carbon monoxide.

Maintenance Under the Hood Recommended Engine Oil
Recommended Engine Oil Oil is a major contributor to your engine’s performance and longevity. If you drive the vehicle with insufficient or deteriorated oil, the engine may fail or be damaged. This seal indicates the oil is energy conserving and that it meets the American Petroleum Institute’s latest requirements.
Genuine Honda Motor Oil
•
Premium-grade 0W-20 detergent oil with
•
an API Certification Seal on the container.
Use a commercial engine oil of suitable viscosity for the ambient temperature as shown below.
Synthetic Oil
■
You may also use synthetic motor oil if it is labeled with the API Certification Seal and is the specified viscosity.
Recommended Engine Oil
Engine Oil Additives Your vehicle does not require oil additives. In fact, they may adversely affect the engine or transmission performance and durability.

Maintenance Under the Hood Transmission Fluid
Manual Transmission Fluid
■
Specified fluid: Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF)
Check the fluid level when the engine is at normal operating temperature.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground. Remove the bolts with a wrench and clips
2.
with a flat-tip screwdriver, then carefully remove the under cover.
3. Remove the transmission filler bolt and washer. Carefully feel inside the bolt hole with your fingers.
Check if the fluid level is up to the edge
of the bolt hole.
If the fluid level is not up to the edge of the
4.
bolt hole, add Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) until it runs out of the hole. Put a new washer on the filler bolt, then

and clips.
Manual Transmission Fluid
If Honda MTF is not available, you may use the API certiicated SAE 10 W-30 or 10 W-40 viscosity motor oil as a temporary measure.Replace with MTF as soon as possible. Motor oil does not contain the proper additives for the transmission and continued use can cause stiffer shifting.
