You can centra lly lock and un lock your vehicle and start the engine
w ith the master key w ith remote cont ro l. A mecha nica l key is inte­
grated in the master key=>
page 44.
@ Emergency key
The emergency key is not intended for constan t use. It should on ly be
used in an emergency. Keep it in a safe place and do not car ry it on
your key ring.
Key replacement
If you lose a key, cont act your autho riz e d Audi de aler immedia tely to
have the
lost key d isab led . Be sure to bri ng all your keys with you .
Data in the master key
During d riving, service and mai ntenance-relevant data is cont in u­
ously s tore d on yo ur ma ster key. Your Audi service adviser can re ad out this data a
nd tell you about th e wo rk your ve hicle needs . T his
applies also to vehicles with convenience key* .
Personal comfort settings
If two peop le use one vehicle, it is recommended that each person
always uses "their ow n" mas ter key . When t he ignition is t urne d off
or when the vehicle is locked, pe rsonal convenience settings for the
followi ng systems a re stored and assig ned to the remote maste r key .

Th e s tored se ttings a re au toma ticall y recalled when you unlock t he
veh icle, when yo u ope n the doo rs o r whe n you turn on the ign ition.
& WARNING
• Do not leave your vehicle unattended with the key in the igni­
tion lo ck . Entry by unauthorized per sons could endanger you or
result in theft or damage the vehicle. Always lock all doors and
take the key.
• Do not leave children unattended in the vehicle, especially with
acce ss to vehicle key s. Unguarded acce ss to the keys provides chil­
d ren the opportunity to start the engine and/or activate vehicle
system s such as the power windows et c. Un supervised operation
of any vehicle system by children can result in serious injury .
• Do not remove the key from the ignition lock until the vehicle
has come to a complete stop. Otherwise the steer ing column lock
could suddenly engage -cau sing the ri sk of an accident.

Clear vision Heated mi rrors
- Rotate the knob to position @ .
Depend ing on the outs ide temperature, the mirror surfaces are
heated until the igni tion is sw itched off -even if the knob is no longe r
in posit io n @ .
You are we ll-advised to fold the o utside mirrors in when maneuvering
in tight spaces or when leaving the ca r pa rked close to other vehicles .
Memory for exterior mirrors*
On vehicles with memo ry fo r the d rive r's seat, the current sett ing for
the exter ior mirrors is automatically stored a long w it h the seat posi ­
tion=>
page 78 .
Tilt function for the passenger's mirror* (only with
memory for exterior mirrors)
W hen the reverse gear is engaged, the mir ror surface tilts downward
sl ightly if the setti ng is for the passenger 's mirror (knob in pos ition
® => page 69, fig. 65) . T h is allows you to see the curb during paralle l
par king.
The mirror returns to its init ial position as soon as reverse gear is
disengaged and ve hicl e speed is a bove about 9 mph (15 km/h). The
m irror also returns to its in itia l pos ition if the switch is moved to the
dr iver's ou tside mir ror © or the igni tion is sw itched off .
If the posi tion of t he mir ro r surface is changed on a ti lted mi rror, this
new position will be automat ically assigned to the remote key when
t he vehicle is ta ken ou t of reverse gear.
0 Note
Curved mirr or s urfa ces (c onvex o r sp her ica l*) increase your fie ld of
view. Remember that vehicles or other objects will appear smaller
a nd f arth er aw ay than when see n in a fla t m irror. If you use this
m irror to est imate d istances of following vehicles when changing
lanes, you co uld es timate incorre ct ly and ca u se an acciden t.
W Tips
If t here should be a ma lfunction in the elect rical system, you can still
adjust the outside mir rors by pressing the edge of the mirror .•

Automatic dimming for the outside
mirrors
The o utside mirrors dim at the same time as the ins ide mirror . When
the ignition is switched on, t he mi rrors a utomatically dim depend ing
on the a mount of light str ik ing t he m irrors (such as head lights
shining into the vehicle from the rear).
W hen the in ter io r li gh ting is switched on and whe n reverse gear is
engaged, the m irrors are switched back to their original brightness
(no t dimmed) .
& WARNING
Broken glass of automatic dimming mirror can cause electrolyte
fluid leakage. Electrolyte fluid can irritate skin, eyes , and resp ira­
tory sy stem.
• Repeated or prolonged exposure to electrolyte can cause irrita­
tion to the respiratory system, especially among people with
asthma o r other respiratory conditions . Get fresh air immediately
by leaving the vehicle or, if that is not po ssible, open window s and
doors all the way.
• If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush them thoroughly with
large amounts of clean water fo r at least 15 minutes; medical
attention i s recommended.
• If elect rolyte contacts skin , flush affected area with clean
water for at lea st 15 minutes and then wash affected area with
soap and water; medical attention is recommended. Thoroughly
wash affected clothing and shoe s before r eu se. .,

Easy entry function
The easy entry function makes it easier for the rear
passengers to enter and leave the vehicle.

Folding down the front seat backs

Moving the front seats forward
-Press and hold the switc h@ until t he seat has reached t he
desired position.
Moving front seats back
- Press an d ho ld t he switc h@ unti l the s eat has r eached t he
des ired posi tion . The seat stop s au to matically when it has
reached its starting posit io n again.
To make it eas ier to enter and leave t he rear seat, t he sea tbacks of the
front seats can be folded forward and the head restraints a re a uto­
matically lowe red . At the same time, the front seats can be moved
forward and b ack . When the front seats a
re moved forward, their original pos it io n is
sto red. Whe n it i s move d back, t he se at a utoma ticall y sto ps in t his
position . To move the seat eve n further back, you have to release the
switch ® and reactivate it.
T he head res tra ints from the fron t seats , dependi ng on the seat
height that has been set, are automat ically ret racted when the seat­
backs are folded down . T hey retu rn to t heir o riginal position again
when the sea tbacks for the fron t sea ts are raised.
[ i ] Tips
Wi th the driver's or passenge r's door closed, the correspond ing
switch to move the seat is inoperative .•

Memory for driver's seat
The seat adjustment settings for two drivers can be
stored using the memory butt ons in th e driver's door .

Storing and recalling settings
With the help o f the memory buttons 1 and 2 ::::> page 78, fig. 72 the
sett ings fo r two d ifferent d rivers can be stored and recalled
::::>
page 79 .
Th e cur rent settings are a lso a utomat ically stored on the remote
cont rol key being used when the vehicle is locked. W hen the vehicle is
unlo cked , the settings stored on the remo te co ntro l key being used
are automatically reca lled.
Turning seat memory on and off
If the [ ON/OFF ] switch is depressed, the seat memory is inoperative .
Th e wo rd
OFF in the [ ON/OFF ] swi tch illum inates.
All the stored sett ings are retained . We recommend us ing the
I ON/OFF ] switch and deact ivat ing the sea t memory if the vehicle is
only go ing to be used
temporarily by a drive r whose settings are not
going to be stored .•

Storing and recalling settings
Before you ca n st ore or recall your settings , the [ O N/OF F]
switch o n the seat memory must be engage d (not raise d).
Storing settings
- Adjust the driver's seat.
- Adjust the two exterior mirrors.
- Press the!SE T] button a nd hold it dow n. In ad dit ion , press
o ne of the memory buttons fo r at least o ne second .
- Release t he b utto ns . The s ett in gs a re now sto red un der
the corres ponding m emo ry bu tt on.

- If t he driver's doo r is o pen , tap the co rresponding memory
button brie fly.
- If the driver 's door is closed, press the appropriate
me mory button until the stored posi tio n is reached.

button illuminat ing::::> page 78, fig. 72.
Wh en the vehicle is
locked , the current settings are stored and
assigned to the remote con trol key . Bu t the settin gs s to red on
memo ry butto ns 1 to 2 are not deleted . They ca n be recalled a t any
time. When the vehicle is
unlocked , the settings stored on the
remote cont rol key are restored .
If your ve hicle is d riven by other persons us ing your remote contro l
key , you sho uld save yo ur individ ual seat p osi tion on one of the
memory butto ns. Yo u can recall your settings aga in simp ly and
c onvenien tly by press ing the corres ponding memory bu tton . Wh en
the ve hicle is locked, these settings a re a utomat ically re -ass ig ned to
the remote control key and stored.
& WARNING
• For safety rea sons, the seat setting can only be recalled when
the vehicle is stationary -otherwise you risk having an accident .
• In an emergency the recall procedure can be cancelled by
pressing the [
ON/OFF] switch or by tapp ing of the the memory
button s. •

Activating remote control key memory
To be able to recall the stored settings with the remote
control key, the function has to be activated in the radio
orMMI*.
- Select: Function button I CAR]> Seat adjustment>
Driver's seat> Key mem. profile > On.

Seat adjustments in MMI
The passenger's seat can be adjusted to various positions
by the driver.
Convenience side view
- Select: Function button I CAR]> Seat adjustment >
Passenger's seat
> Convenience side view.
- Continue to press the control knob until the adjustment
process is complete.
Seat symmetry
Select: Function button I CAR]> Seat adjustment>
Passenger's seat
> Seat symmetry.
- Continue to press the control knob until the adjustment
p rocess is complete.
Using the Convenience side view function, the passenger's seat is
adjusted so that the driver has the best possible view to the right .
When the Convenience side view is set, the specific position of the
driver's seat is taken into consideration.
Using the Seat symmetry function, the passeng er's seat can be
moved to the same position as the driver's seat . The settings for the
driver's seat are import ed and set automat ically.•

Front head restraints
Head restraints that are adjusted according to body size,
along with the seat bealt, offer effective protection.

Manually adjustable steering wheel

- M ove t he steeri ng wheel to the d esir ed po sition.
- Push the lever against the steeri ng column un til it loc ks.
T here must be at least 10 inches (25 cm) between your chest and the
cen ter o f the stee ring whee l. If you canno t sit more than 10 inches
(25 cm) from the steer ing wheel , see if adaptive equ ipment is avail­
able to help you reach the pedals and increase t he distance from the
steering wheel.

he steering wheel can be adjusted even whe n the ign ition is turned
off. For veh icles with seat memory, the individual positions for the
stee ring wheel ca n be st ored along wi th t he sea t pos it ion.
& WARNING
Improper use of steering wheel adjustment and improper seating
position can cause serious personal injury .
• Adjust the steer ing wheel column only when the vehicle is not
moving to prevent loss of vehicle control.
• Adjust the dri ver's seat or steering wheel so that there is a
minimum of 10 inches (25 cm) between your che st and the
steering wheel=>
page 172, fig. 164. If you cannot maintain th is
minimum distance , the airbag system cannot protect you prop­
erly .
• If phy sical limitations prevent you from sitting 10 in ches (25
cm) or more from the steering wheel, check with your authorized
Audi dealer to see if adaptive equipment is available.
• If the steering wheel is al igned w ith your face , the supp le­
mental driver 's airbag cannot provide as much protection in an
accident . Always make sure that the steering wheel is aligned with
your chest.
• Always hold the steering wheel with your hands at the 9 o 'clock
and 3 o'clo ck position s to reduce the risk of personal injury if the
driver 's airbag deploys .
• Never hold the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock po sition or with
your hands inside the steering wheel
rim or on the steer ing wheel
hub. Holding the stee ring wheel the wrong way can cause serious
injur ies to the hands, arms and head if the driver's airbag
deploys. •
