LIGHTING CONTROL STALK
Lighting on
With the ignition off, on opening the
driver's door an audible signal indi-
cates that you have left the lighting on
when leaving the vehicle.
Switch the lighting off. Direction indicators
Dipped/main beam change
Pull the stalk fully towards you. Front and rear foglamps (ring B)
Turn ring B forwards to switch on
and rearwards to switch off. The

Automatic "Guide-me-home"
lighting
When you leave your vehicle

d i p p e d b e a m h e a d l a m p s r e m a i n o n
for the duration selected after the igni-
tion is switched off.
Deactivation
When the function is deactivated,
t h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p c o m e s o n o n t h e
5 - d i a l i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l s c r e e n .
D o n o t c o v e r t h e s u n s h i n e /
brightness sensor, located in
the centre of the windscreen.
It is used to regulate the air
c o n d i t i o n i n g a n d f o r t h e a u t o m a t i c i l -
l u m i n a t i o n o f h e a d l a m p s .
If the sunshine/brightness sensor
does not function correctly, the
s i d e l a m p s a n d d i p p e d b e a m h e a d l a m -
p s c o m e o n .

With the key in the ignition on or start-
ing position, operate the relevant
switch.
T h e r e a r c o u r t e s y l a m p c o m e s o n
w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n k e y i s r e m o v e d , o n
unlocking the vehicle or on opening
one of the doors.
It gradually goes off after the ignition
has been switched on or the vehicle
is locked.
Pressing switch 1 turns on the rear
c o u r t e s y l a m p .
T h e c o u r t e s y l a m p c a n b e d e a c t i v a t -
ed by pressing switch 1 with the door
o p e n . T h e m a p r e a d i n g l a m p s a r e n o t
a f f e c t e d b y t h i s a n d m a y b e s w i t c h e d
on.
T o r e - a c t i v a t e t h e l a m p s , p r e s s t h e
switch, with the door open. With the key in the ignition on or start-
ing position, press the corresponding
switch.
T h e r e a r r e a d i n g l a m p s c o m e o n w h e n
t h e k e y i s r e m o v e d f r o m t h e i g n i t i o n
and when the vehicle is unlocked.
They switch off gradually when the ig-
nition is switched on or when the ve-
hicle is locked.

Automatic operation of hazard
warning lamps
When braking in an emergency, de-
pending on the deceleration, the
hazard warning lamps come on au-
tomatically. They switch off automati-
c a l l y t h e fi r s t t i m e y o u a c c e l e r a t e .
It is also possible to switch them off by
pressing the button.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAMME (ESP)
This system is linked and complemen-
tary to the ABS system.
I n t h e e v e n t o f a s i g n i fi c a n t v a r i a t i o n
between the trajectory of the vehicle
and the path required by the driver,
the ESP monitors wheel by wheel and
acts automatically on the engine and
on the brake of one or more wheels, to
put the vehicle back on course, within
the limit of the laws of physics.
ESP operation The indicator lamp comes on. Disarming the ESP
In exceptional conditions (starting the
vehicle when it is stuck in the mud,
immobilised in snow, on unstable
ground...), it may be advisable to dis-
arm the ESP.
Press the "ESP OFF" switch, lo-
cated on the centre console.
The switch lights up and the warning
light comes on: the ESP no longer acts
on the operation of the engine.
Instrument panel indicator
light.
The system is triggered again:
automatically if the ignition is
switched off,
automatically above 30 mph (50 km/h),
manually by pressing the switch
again.

message on the multifunction display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have
the system checked. Instrument panel indicator light.
The ESP offers exceptional
safety during normal driving,
but this should not encourage
the driver to take extra risks
(late braking) or drive at high speed.
Correct operation of the system depends
on compliance with the manufacturer's
recommendations regarding the wheels
(tyres and rims), the braking compo-
nents, the electronic components and
the PEUGEOT assembly and operation
procedures.
After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer. ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)
The ABS increases the stability and
manoeuvrability of your vehicle on
braking, in particular on poor or slip-
pery road surfaces.
This system comes into operation
automatically when there is a risk of
wheel lock.
Normal operation of the ABS may
make itself felt by slight vibrations of
the brake pedal.
This indicates that the ABS is
faulty.
It also comes on on the instru-
ment panel screen.
If it comes on permanently above
6 mph (10 km/h), it indicates an ABS
malfunction.
However, the vehicle retains conven-
tional servo-assisted braking.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, thus reducing
the stopping distance.
It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated.
The effect of this is a reduction in the
resistance of the pedal and an in-
c r e a s e i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .
When braking in an emergency, press
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g t h e p r e s s u r e .
In emergency braking, press
