Special features of BioFlex
engines
A BioFlex vehicle has been designed
to run on unleaded petrol (RON 95 or
RON 98) or ethanol (this is a mixture
containing 85% ethanol and 15% un-
leaded petrol, called E85).
So, regardless of the quantity of fuel
remaining in your tank and irrespec-
tive of its type (RON 95/RON 98, E85
o r a m i x t u r e o f t h e t w o ) , y o u c a n fi l l
your tank at any time with unleaded
petrol (RON 95 or RON 98) or ethanol
(E85).
There is no problem driving on unlea-
ded petrol only with this vehicle. In winter conditions, star-
ting the engine from cold may
s o m e t i m e s p r o v e d i f fi c u l t .
During these very cold periods
you are advised to use unleaded pet-
rol rather than E85 to ensure optimum
starting conditions.
Quality of the fuel used for
petrol engines
The petrol engines are perfectly com-
patible with E10 type petrol biofuels
(containing 10% ethanol), conforming
to European standards EN 228 and
EN 15376.
E85 type fuels (containing up to 85%
ethanol) are reserved exclusively for
vehicles marketed for the use of this
type of fuel (BioFlex vehicles). The
quality of the ethanol must comply with
European standard EN 15293.
For Brazil only, special vehicles are
marketed to run on fuels containing up
to 100% ethanol (E100 type).
Quality of the fuel used for
Diesel engines
The Diesel engines are perfectly com-
patible with biofuels which conform
to current and future European stan-
dards (Diesel fuel which complies with
standard EN 590 mixed with a bio-
fuel which complies with standard EN
14214) available at the pumps (con-
taining up to 7 % Fatty Acid Methyl
Ester).
The B30 biofuel can be used in cer-
tain Diesel engines; however, this use
is subject to strict application of the
special servicing conditions. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The use of any other type of (bio)fuel
(vegetable or animal oils, pure or di-
luted, domestic fuel...) is strictly pro-
hibited (risk of damage to the engine
and fuel system).

CHECKING THE LEVELS
These are normal maintenance opera-
tions which keep your vehicle in good
working order. Obtan advice from the
PEUGEOT dealer network or from the
Warranty and Maintenance Record
provided with the vehicle.

Dipstick There are two marks on
the dipstick:
A = maximum
N e v e r fi l l p a s t t h i s m a r k .
B = minimum
To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil is
prohibited.
Oil level
Check the level regularly and top
up between changes.
Check the level with the vehicle level,
the engine having been off for more
than 15 minutes, using the dipstick. Oil change
It is essential that this is carried out at
t h e i n t e r v a l s s p e c i fi e d a n d t h e v i s c o s i t y
of the oil chosen must meet the require-
ments laid down in the manufacturer's
servicing schedule. Ask for advice from
the PEUGEOT dealer network.
Note : avoid used oil coming into pro-
longed contact with the skin. Empty
the used oil into the containers provid-
ed for this purpose in the PEUGEOT
dealer network (France) or take it to
an approved recycling centre. system is pressurised, wait for at least
one hour after the engine has stopped
before carrying out any work.
Oil filter

Brake fluid change

Open the reservoir, with the engine
at ambient temperature. The level
should always be above the MIN.
mark and close to the MAX. mark.
Cooling system Screenwash and headlamp
wash level
To ensure optimum cleaning and avoid
f r e e z i n g , t h i s fl u i d s h o u l d n o t b e t o p p e d
up or replaced with plain water. Slacken the cap by two turns
to release the pressure to pre-
vent any risk of scalding. When
the pressure has dropped, re-
move the cap and top up the level.
Note : the coolant does not need to be
changed.
U s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d
by the manufacturer.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is
controlled by the engine fan. As this
fan can operate with the ignition key
removed and because the cooling Do not dispose of used oil,

drains or onto the ground.
Take care when working un-
der the bonnet, as some parts
of the engine can be very hot
(risk of burns).

Engine compartment fuses
To access the fuses located in the
engine compartment (next to the bat-
tery), remove the battery cover and
unclip the fusebox cover.
Close the fusebox cover carefully and

Without lifting (4 wheels on
the ground)
You must always use a towing bar.
The removable towing eye is inside
the spare wheel.
At the front and at the rear:
Unclip the cover,
Screw in the towing eye as far as it
will go. Special requirements with an
automatic gearbox
When towing with the engine switched
off, there is no braking or steering as-
sistance.
Failure to observe this special require-
ment may lead to the destruction of
certain braking units and the absence
of braking assistance when the engine
is re-started.
TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
Lifting (2 wheels only on
the ground)
It is preferable to raise the vehicle with
a professional lifting device.
Place the gear lever in neutral
(position N in the case of the
automatic gearbox).
Towing a vehicle with an auto-
matic gearbox in reverse gear
is prohibited (no lubrication). When towing with four wheels on the
ground, the following rules must be
observed:
- lever in position
N ,
- tow the vehicle at less than 30 mph (50 km/h) over a maximum dis-
tance of 30 miles (50 km).
- do not add oil to the gearbox.
