INTERIOR
Interior mood lighting
This subdued passenger compart-
ment lighting improves visibility inside
the vehicle in low lighting conditions. It
c o m p r i s e s 4 l a m p s , l o c a t e d i n t h e a u -
t o m a t i c d a y / n i g h t m i r r o r s u p p o r t , i n t h e
footwells and in the lower dashboard
storage compartment.

Gear shift indicator
A s s o c i a t e d w i t h t h e m a n u a l g e a r b o x ,
this system suggests when to change
up to obtain optimum fuel consumption.
104 Scented air freshener
The scented air freshener diffuses the
selected fragrance throughout the pas-
senger compartment from its location in
the ventilation system.

After setting the desired level of com-

MONITORING
Indicator and warning lamps
Visual indicators informing the driver that a system is in operat ion (operation or
deactivation indicator lamps) or of the occurrence of a fault (wa rning lamp).
When the ignition is switched on
Certain warning lamps come on for a few seconds when the vehi cle's ignition is
switched on.
When the engine is started, these same warning lamps should switch off.
If they remain on, before moving off, refer to the information on the warning lamp concerned.
Operation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g
system has come into operation. The warning lamps may come
o n c o n t i n u o u s l y ( fi x e d ) o r fl a s h .
Certain warning lamps may
come on in two different modes.
Only by relating the type of light-
ing to the operating status of the
vehicle can it be ascertained
whether the situation is normal
or whether a fault has occurred.
Associated warnings
The switching on of certain warning lamps may be accompanied b y an audible
signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Warning lamp is on Cause Action/Observations
Left-hand
direction
indicato

buzzer. The lighting stalk is pushed
down.
Right-hand
direction
indicator fl a s h i n g w i t h
buzzer.
The lighting stalk is pushed up.
Sidelamps fi x e d . The lighting stalk is in the
"Sidelamps" position.
Hazard
warning lamps fl a s h i n g w i t h
audible signal. The hazard warning lamps
switch, located on the
dashboard, has been operated. The left-hand and right-hand direction indicators
a n d t h e i r a s s o c i a t e d i n d i c a t o r l a m p s fl a s h
simultaneously.

Deactivation indicator lamps
I f o n e o f t h e f o l l o w i n g i n d i c a t o r l a m p s c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s p o n d i n g s y s t e m h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f i n t e n t i o n a l l y .
This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front
airbag is deactivated.
In this case you can install
a "rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to activate the
passenger's front airbag.
I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t a c h i l d s e a t i n t h e r e a r -
facing position.
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located at
the bottom left of the
dashboard, is pressed. Its
indicator lamp is on.
The ESP/ASR is
deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp goes off.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
If deactivated, the system is reactivated
automatically from around 30 mph (50 km/h).

The instrument panel remains illumi-
nated with only the vehicle speed and
cruise control or speed limiter informa-
tion, if in use.
If there is an alert or a change in a func-
tion or to a setting, the black panel mode
is interrupted.
Activation
With the lighting on, press the left
hand button of the instrument panel
several times to progressively re-
duce the dashboard lighting level.
Press the button again to reduce the
lighting to the minimum level and
switch off the interior mood lighting.
Press the button again to activate
the black panel.
Black panel
System allowing certain displays to be
switched off for night driving.
Activation
When the lighting is on:
press the button to change the
brightness of the instruments and
controls,
when the level of brightness required
is reached, release the button.
Deactivation
When the lighting is off, or in day mode
o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h d a y t i m e r u n n i n g
lamps, pressing the button does not
have any effect.
Lighting dimmer
System for manual adjustment of the
brightness of the instruments and con-
trols in relation to the exterior brightness.

VISIBILITY
INTERIOR MOOD LIGHTING
The dimmed passenger compartment
lighting improves visibility in the vehicle
when the light is poor.
Switching on
At night, the illumination of footwell and
the central dashboard stoarge compart-
ment comes on automatically when the
sidelamps are switched on. Switching off
The interior mood lighting switches off
automatically when the sidelamps are
switched off.
It can be switched off manually using
the instrument panel lighting rheostat
button.
With the lighting on, press several
times on the left hand button of the
instrument panel to progressively
reduce the dashboard lighting level.
Press again to reduce the lighting
level to the minimum and switch off
the interior mood lighting. This comes on automatically when the
boot is opened and switches off auto-
matically when the boot is closed.
BOOT LAMP
The lighting time varies according
to the circumstances:
- when the ignition is off, ap-
proximately ten minutes,
- in energy economy mode, ap- proximately thirty seconds,
- when the engine is running, no limit.
On certain versions, three lamps locat-
ed in the support between the roof and
the automatic day/night interior mirror
come on as well.

TECHNICAL DATA
The tyre pressures must be
checked when the tyres are cold,
at least once a month. Low tyre pressures increase fuel
consumption.
IDENTIFICATION MARKINGS

under the bonnet.
This number is engraved on the body-
work near the damper mounting.

the dashboard.
This number is indicated on a self-ad-
hesive label which is visible through the
windscreen.
C. Manufacturer's label.
The VIN is indicated on a self-destroy-
i n g l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e l e f t h a n d c e n t r e
pillar.
D. Tyre/paint label.
T h i s l a b e l i s a f fi x e d t o t h e l e f t h a n d c e n -
tre pillar.
It bears the following information:
- the tyre pressures, for unladen and laden conditions,
- the wheel rim and tyre sizes,
- the brands of tyre recommended by the manufacturer,
- t h e s p a r e t y r e i n fl a t i o n p r e s s u r e ,
- the paint colour code.
