Caution while driving
Keep the trunk lid closed.
This not only keeps personal belongings from being thrown out, but also pre-
vents exhaust gases from entering the vehicle.
n When children are in the vehicle
Never leave children unattended in the vehicle as they may lock themselves
in the vehicle or trunk, which could cause the child to overheat or suffocate,
resulting in death or serious injury.
n When using the tr unk compartment
Ensure the trunk lid is fully open. If it only partially opens, it could fall down
potentially causing serious injury.

Front seats
CAUTION
nSeat adjustment
lDo not recline the seat more than necessary when the vehicle is in motion
to reduce the risk of sliding under the lap belt.
If the seat is too reclined, the lap belt may slide past the hips and apply
restraint forces directly to the abdomen or your neck may contact the
shoulder belt, increasing the risk of death or serious injury in the event of
an accident.
l After adjusting the seat, make sure that the seat is locked in position.

Rear seats (split rear seats only)
The seatbacks of the rear seats can be folded down.
Insert the key into the hole on
the center seat belt buckle to
release tab (with hooked end),
and allow the belt to retract.
Remove the seat belts from
the seat belt guides.
Check that the security lock
levers in the trunk are in
unlock position.

nReturning rear seatbacks
Lower each head restraints
while pushing the lock release
button.
Fold the seatbacks down
while pulling the seatback lock
release knobs.
Tilt the rear seatback up until it locks,
making sure that you hold the seat belt to
prevent it from getting caught between
the seatback and the inner side of the
vehicle.
Make sure the shoulder belt passes
through the guide and the seat belt
is in the position before folding
down the seat when returning the
seatback up.

nAfter returning the seatback to the upright position
Observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in death or
serious injury.
lCheck that the seat belts are not twisted or caught under the seat.
lMake sure that the seatback is
securely locked in position by lightly
rocking it back and forth.
If the seatback is not securely locked,
the red marking will be visible on the
seatback lock release knob. Make
sure that the red marking is not visi-
ble.

Always raise the head restraint one level from the stowed position when
using.

Observe the following precautions regarding the head restraints. Failure to
do so may result in death or serious injury.
lUse the head restraints designed for each respective seat.
l Adjust the head restraints to the correct position at all times.
l Do not drive with the head restraints removed.
Pull the head restraint up while pushing
the lock release button.
Make sure that the head restraints are
adjusted so that the center of the head
restraint is closest to the top of your ears.

Seat belts
Make sure that all occupants are wearing their seat belts before driv-
ing the vehicle.
nCorrect use of the seat belts
lExtend the shoulder belt so
that it comes fully over the
shoulder, but does not
come into contact with the
neck or slide off the shoul-
der.
l Position the lap belt as low
as possible over the hips.
l Adjust the position of the
seatback. Sit up straight
and well back in the seat.
l Do not twist the seat belt.
n Fastening and releasing the seat belt
