Do not arm the system until all pas-sengers have left the vehicle. If the system is armed while a passen-
ger(s) remains in the vehicle, the
alarm may be activated when the
remaining passenger(s) leave the
vehicle.

Theft-alarm stage
The alarm will be activated if any of the
following occurs while the system is
armed.
A front or rear door is opened without using the transmitter.
The boot lid is opened without using the transmitter.
The engine bonnet is opened.The siren will sound and the hazard
warning lights will blink continuously for
27 seconds, unless the system is dis-
armed. To turn off the system, unlock the

Disarmed stage
The system will be disarmed when the
doors are unlocked by depressing the
unlock button on the transmitter.
After depressing unlock button, the haz-
ard warning lights will blink twice to indi-
cate that the system is disarmed.
After depressing unlock button, if any
door is not opened within 30 seconds,
the system will be rearmed.

Operating door locks from out-
side the vehicle
Turn the key towards the rear of vehicle
to unlock and towards the front of vehi-
cle to lock.
If you lock/unlock the door with a key, all vehicle doors will lock/unlock auto-
matically. Doors can also be locked and
unlocked with the transmitter key (ifequipped).
Once the doors are unlocked, they may be opened by pulling the door handle.
When closing the door, push the door by hand. Make sure that doors are
closed securely.
❈ If your vehicle is equipped with the
remote keyless entry system, there is
no key lock on the front passenger's
door.

With the door lock button
To unlock a door, push the door lockbutton (1) to the “Unlock” position. The
red mark (2) on the button will be visi-
ble.
To lock a door, push the door lock but- ton (1) to the “Lock” position. If the door
is locked properly, the red mark (2) on
the door lock button will not be visible.
To open a door, pull the door handle (3) outward.
Front doors may be opened with the lock button is in the locked position bypulling on the inner door handle (if
equipped with this feature). Front doors cannot be locked if the
ignition key is in the ignition switch witheither of the front doors open.

If a power door lock ever fails to
function while you are in the vehi-
cle, try one or more of the following
techniques to exit:
Operate the door unlock feature repeatedly (both electronic and
manual) while simultaneously
pulling on the door handle.
Operate the other door locks and handles, front and rear.
Lower a front window and use the key to unlock the door from out-
side.

tion (1) of the switch, all vehicle doors
will lock.
When pushing down on the rear por- tion (2) of the switch, all vehicle doors
will unlock.
However, if the key is in the ignition switch and any front door is open, the
doors will not lock when the front por-

Deadlocks
Deadlocks prevent opening of a door
from either inside or outside the vehicle
once the deadlocks have been activated
providing an additional measure of vehi-
cle security.
To lock the vehicle using the deadlock
function, the doors must be locked using
the key or the Remote Keyless Entry
transmitter. To unlock the vehicle, the key
or the transmitter must again be used.
To lock a vehicle without using the dead-
lock function, the doors should be locked
by depressing the central door lock
switch and closing the doors.
WARNING
- Unlocked
vehicles
Leaving your vehicle unlocked can
invite theft or possible harm to you
or others from someone hiding in
your vehicle while you are gone.
Always remove the ignition key,
engage the parking brake, close all
windows and lock all doors when
leaving your vehicle unattended.
WARNING - Unattended
children
An enclosed vehicle can become
extremely hot, causing death or
severe injury to unattended chil-dren or animals who cannot escape
the vehicle. Furthermore, children
might operate features of the vehi-
cle that could injure them, or they
could encounter other harm, possi-
bly from someone gaining entry to
the vehicle. Never leave children or
animals unattended in your vehicle.WARNING - Doors
The doors should always be fully closed and locked while the vehi-
cle is in motion to prevent acci-
dental opening of the door.
Locked doors will also discour-
age potential intruders when the
vehicle stops or slows.
Be careful when opening doors and watch for vehicles, motorcy-
cles, bicycles or pedestrians
approaching the vehicle in the
path of the door. Opening a door
when something is approaching
can cause damage or injury.
WARNING
Occupants must not be allowed to
remain in the vehicle when the
deadlocking system is activated
since it will not be possible for
them, or persons outside the vehi-
cle, to open the doors and leave the
vehicle in case of an emergency.

All doors will automatically unlock when

Speed sensing door lock system (if equipped)
When the speed of the vehicle reaches
above 40 km/h for 1 second, it will auto-
matically lock all doors. For activation of
this feature, contact an authorised
HYUNDAI dealer.

To open the boot lid without using the
key, pull up the boot lid release lever.
With the key
To open the boot lid, insert the key and
turn it clockwise to unlock. The boot com-

To close, lower the boot lid, then press
down on it until it locks. To be sure the
boot lid is securely fastened, always
check by trying to pull it up again.

Boot lid knob lock
If the boot lid lock knob (located near the latch) is in the "LOCK" position when the
boot lid is closed, it will not be possible to
open the boot lid by using the remote
release. In this instance, use the master
key to unlock and open the boot lid.
To allow the boot lid to be opened with
the remote release, push the boot lid lock
knob down, then to the opposite directionof the "LOCK" position.B540B03E-DAT
Boot lid emergency latch release (if equipped)
Your vehicle is equipped with a glow-in-
the dark emergency boot release lever
located inside the boot. It will glow after
the boot is closed. When pulled, this leverwill release the boot latch mechanismand open the boot.

Doors and boot should be kept
locked and keys be kept out of the
reach of children. Parents also
should teach their children about
the dangers of playing in boots.
WARNING
If a person is locked in the boot, pull the emergency boot release
lever on the driver's side of theinside panel of the boot to openthe boot lid.
