!WARNING:
o Before installing child restraints, always refer to "Child Restraint System" to ensure correct instal- lation and occupant protection is maximised.
o Make sure that the occupant does
not have any body parts (head, arms & legs) protruding outside the restraining system. If an inflat- ing airbag was to strike an infantchild on the head, it may cause serious injury.
o Ensure the opening for the Cur- tain Airbag System remains unob-structed at all times, so that the airbags can inflate properly ifneeded.
Important Safety Notes for Cur- tain Airbag Systems Following is a number of safety points concerning this system which shouldalways be observed to ensure risk of injury is reduced in an accident.
o The built in coat hooks should
only be used for light weight cloth- ing, ensure that pockets are free ofany heavy or sharp objects. When using coat hooks, do not hang clothes on coat hangers.
o The space between the occupant and the curtain airbag must neverbe occupied by children, passen-gers or pets. Occupants should never lean out or have any parts of their body protruding from thewindow whilst the engine is run- ning.
o Do not move the sun visor out to cover the side window if there isan item attached to it such as garage door remote control, pens, air fresheners or the like. These objects may cause injury if the Curtain Airbag is deployed.
o Where sun blinds are fitted to the rear doors, these must not ob-struct or impair the airbag in anyway.
B990C01CM-DAT Curtain Airbag (If Installed) Curtain airbags are located along both sides of the roof rails. It is designed to help protect the heads of the front seat occupants and the rear outboard seat occupants in certain sideimpact collisions. The curtain airbags are designed to deploy only during certain side impact collisions, depending on the crash se- verity, angle, speed and impact. Thecurtain airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations, collisions from the front or rear of thevehicle or in most rollover situations. OCM052213

!WARNING:
o The following specification is the maximum weight that can be loaded onto the roof rack. Distrib-ute the load as evenly as possible across the crossbars (if installed) and roof rack and secure the loadfirmly. o The vehicle centre of gravity will
be higher when items are loadedonto the roof rack. Avoid sudden starts, braking, sharp turns, abrupt manoeuvres or high speeds thatmay result in loss of vehicle con- trol or rollover causing an acci- dent.
CAUTION:
o The crossbars (if installed) should be placed in the proper load carry-ing positions prior to placing itemsonto the roof rack.
o If the vehicle is equipped with a
sunroof, be sure not to positioncargo onto the roof rack in such a way that it could interfere with sunroof operation.
o When carrying cargo on the roof rack, take the necessary precau-tions to make sure the cargo doesnot damage the roof of the vehicle.
o When carrying large objects on
the roof rack, make sure they donot exceed the overall roof length or width.
!
ROOF RACK 100 kg (220 lb) EVENLY DISTRIBUTED
o Always drive slowly and turn cor-
ners carefully when carrying items on the roof rack. Severe wind updrafts, caused by passing ve- hicles or natural causes, can causesudden upward pressure on items loaded on the roof rack. This is especially true when carryinglarge, flat items such as wood panels or mattresses. This could cause the items to fall off the roofrack and cause damage to your vehicle or those around you.
o To prevent damage or loss of cargo while driving, check frequently be-fore or while driving to make sure the items on the roof rack aresecurely fastened.

22SMOOTH CORNERING
C150A01A-DAT Avoid braking or gear changing in cor- ners, especially when roads are wet. Ideally, corners should always be taken under gentle acceleration. If you followthese suggestions, tyre wear will be held to a minimum.
o Don't "labour" or "over-rev" the en-
gine. Labouring is driving too slowly in too high a gear resulting in the engine bucking. If this happens to you, shift to a lower gear. Over-revving is racing the engine beyond its safe limit. This can be avoided by shifting at the recommended speeds.
o Use your air conditioning sparingly. The air conditioning system is oper-ated by engine power so your fueleconomy is reduced when you use it.
o Keep your car clean all over. For
maximum service, your Hyundaishould be kept clean and free of corrosive materials. It is especially important that mud, dirt, ice, etc. notbe allowed to accumulate on the underside of the car. This extra weight can result in increased fuel con-sumption and also contribute to cor- rosion.
o Travel lightly. Don't carry unneces- sary weight in your car. Weight is anenemy of good fuel economy.
o Don't let the engine idle longer than
necessary. If you are waiting (andnot in traffic), turn off your engine and restart only when you're ready togo.
o Remember, your Hyundai does not
require extended warm-up. As soonas the engine is running smoothly, you can drive away. In very cold weather, however, give your enginea slightly longer warm-up period.

C160H01A-DAT Use Approved Anti-Freeze in Window Washer System To keep the water in the window washer system from freezing, add an approvedanti-freeze solution in accordance with instructions on the container. Window washer anti-freeze is available fromHyundai dealers and most auto parts outlets. Do not use engine coolant or other types of anti-freeze as these maydamage the paint finish.
C160G01A-DAT To Keep Locks from Freezing To keep the locks from freezing, squirt an approved de-icer fluid or glycerineinto the key opening. If a lock is cov- ered with ice, squirt it with an approved de-icing fluid to remove the ice. If thelock is frozen internally, you may be able to thaw it out by using a heated key. Handle the heated key with care toavoid injury. NOTE: The proper temperature for using the immobiliser key is from -40°C to 80°C. If you heat the immobiliser key over 80°C to open a frozen lock, itmay cause damage to the transpon- der in its head.
C160E01A-AAT Change to "Winter Weight" Oil if Necessary In some climates it is recommended that a lower viscosity "winter weight" oilbe used during cold weather. See Sec- tion 9 for recommendations. If you aren't sure what weight oil you should use, consult your Hyundai dealer. C160F01A-AAT Check Spark Plugs and Ignition System Inspect your spark plugs as described in Section 6 and replace them if neces- sary. Also check all ignition wiring and components to be sure they are notcracked, worn or damaged in any way.

C190B02S-DAT Trailer Towbar Select the proper towbar and ball com- bination, making sure that it's locationis compatible with that of the trailer or vehicle being towed. We recommend only genuine Hyundai towbars (thetowbars are made and tested in Austra- lia/NZ for local conditions). Use a quality non-equalising towbarwhich distributes the tongue load uni- formly throughout the chassis. Tongue loads can be increased or de- creased by redistributing the load in the trailer. This can be verified by checkingthe total weight of the loaded trailer and then checking the load on the tongue.
WARNING:
Improperly loading your car and trailer can serious affect its steering and braking performance causing a crash in which you may be seriouslyinjured.
TRAILER OR VEHICLE TOWING
C190A01A-DAT If you are considering towing with your vehicle, you should first check with your State Department of Motor Ve- hicles to determine their legal require-ments. Since laws vary from state to state, the requirements for towing trailers, cars, other types of vehicles or apparatus may differ. Ask your Hyundai dealer for further details before towing.
CAUTION:
Do not do any towing with your car during its first 2,000km (1,200 miles) in order to allow the engine to prop-erly bed in. Failure to heed this cau- tion may result in serious engine or transaxle damage.
!
USE OF LIGHTS
C180A01A-AAT Check your lights regularly for correct operation and always keep them clean. When driving during the day in condi- tions of poor visibility, it is helpful todrive with headlights on low beam. This enables you to be seen as well as to see.
