The back door can be opened from the inside.The luggage compartment light turns on
when the back door is opened and the light
switch is ON.
Use the back door handle when closing.
If the vehicle is equipped with a power back
door, the back door automatically pulls
closed in the event that the door is not prop-
erly latched when closed.
Remove the cover.

■The power back door can be opened when
The engine switch is in the ON position, and the shift lever is in P.
■Jam protection function
If anything obstructs the power back door while it is closing/opening, the back door
will automatically operate in the opposite direction.
■If the power back door does not work
The back door must be initialized. To initialize, close the back door completely by
hand.
■Customization that can be configured at Lexus dealer
Settings (e.g. beep sound) can be changed. (Customizable features →P. 4 5 8 )
CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Falling to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■Keep the back door closed while driving
If the back door is opening, the luggage will be thrown out and exhaust gases will be
entered in the vehicle.
■When the back door is opened while parking
The open back door hides the rear lights. Other road users must be warned of the
presence of your vehicle by a warning triangle or other device.
■Operating the power back door
●Check to make sure that passengers do not have any part of their body in a posi-
tion where it could be caught or hit when the back door is being operated.
●Careful attention is needed so as not to get your fingers trapped as the back door
automatically closes when it has not been fully closed.
●Do not allow children to operate the back door.
Closing the back door on someone can cause serious injury, and in some
instances, even death.

■Emergency locking retractor (ELR)
The retractor will lock the belt during a sudden stop or on impact. It may also lock if
you lean forward too quickly. A slow, easy motion will allow the belt to extend so that
you can move around fully.
■Automatic locking retractor (ALR)
When a passenger's shoulder belt is completely extended and then retracted even
slightly, the belt is locked in that position and cannot be extended. This feature is
used to hold the child restraint system (CRS) firmly. To free the belt again, fully
retract the belt and then pull the belt out once more. ( →P. 112)
■Pregnant women
Obtain medical advice and wear the seat belt
in the proper way. (→P. 5 8 )
Women who are pregnant should position
the lap belt as low as possible over the hips in
the same manner as other occupants. Extend
the shoulder belt completely over the shoul-
der and position the belt across the chest.
Avoid belt contact over the rounding of the
abdominal area.
If the seat belt is not worn properly, not only a
pregnant woman, but also the fetus could suf-
fer death or serious injury as a result of sud-
den braking or a collision.

Anti-glare inside rear view mirror
■To prevent sensor error
CAUTION
■Caution while driving
Do not adjust the position of the mirror while driving.
Doing so may lead to mishandling of the vehicle and an accident, resulting in death
or serious injury.
In automatic mode, sensors are used to detect the headlights of vehicles
behind and automatically reduces the reflected light.
To turn automatic mode on/
off, press and hold the switch
for 3 seconds.
The indicator comes on when
automatic mode is turned on.
The anti-glare mirror default
mode is automatic mode. The
anti-glare mirror is automati-
cally set to automatic mode
whenever the engine switch is in
the ON position.
To ensure that the sensors operate properly,
do not touch or cover them.

■Linked mirror function when reversing (vehicles with driving position memory)
The outside rear view mirrors will automatically angle downwards when the vehicle
is reversing in order to give a better view of the ground. However, this function will
not operate when the mirror select switch is in the neutral position (between L and
R).
■Auto anti-glare function
When the anti-glare inside rear view mirror is set to automatic mode, the outside
rear view mirrors will activate in conjunction with the anti-glare inside rear view mir-
ror to reduce reflected light. ( →P. 6 7 )
CAUTION
■When driving the vehicle
Observe the following precautions while driving.
Failing to do so may result in loss of control of the vehicle and cause an accident,
resulting in death or serious injury.
●Do not adjust the mirrors while driving.
●Do not drive with the mirrors folded back.
●Both the driver and passenger side mirrors must be extended and properly
adjusted before driving.
■When the mirror defoggers are operating
Do not touch the surface of the mirror, as it may be hot.

■Door lock linked window operation
●The power windows can be opened and closed using the key. (→P. 3 9 )

■Retained accessory power
The power windows can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even after the
engine switch is turned to the ACC or LOCK position. They cannot, however, be
operated once either front door is opened.
■Jam protection function
If an object becomes caught between the window and the window frame, window
travel is stopped and the window is opened slightly.
■If the power window does not work correctly
The power windows must be initialized in order to ensure proper operation. (Per-
form for each window with the switch for each seat.)
Open the window halfway.
Fully close the window by pulling the switch up and continue holding the
switch for one second.
The indicator on the switch changes from a flashing pattern to being on when initial
settings are complete.

The moon roof can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even after the
engine switch is turned to the ACC or LOCK position. It cannot, however, be oper-
ated once either front door is opened.
■Jam protection function
If an object is detected between the moon roof and the frame while closing or tilting
down, travel is stopped and the moon roof opens slightly.
■To reduce moon roof wind noise
Drive with the moon roof where it has stopped when opening automatically.
■Sunshade
The sunshade can be opened and closed manually. However, the sunshade will
open automatically when the moon roof is opened.
