< SERVICE INFORMATION >
REFRIGERANT LINES
O-rings are different from low-pressure pipe 1 (high-pressure pipe 2) and low-pressure pipe 2 (high-
pressure pipe 3).
Mark the mounting position of intake sensor bracket prior to removal so that the reinstalled sensor
can be located in the same position.
When recharging refrigerant, check for leaks.
Removal and Installation of Expansion ValveINFOID:0000000001328230
REMOVAL
1. Remove evaporator. Refer to ATC-137, "Removal and Installation of Evaporator".
2. Remove mounting bolts, and then remove expansion valve. CAUTION:
Cap or wrap the joint of evaporator with suitable material
such as vinyl tape to avoid the entry of air.
INSTALLATION
Installation is basically the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
Replace O-rings of evaporator with new ones, and then apply compressor oil to it when installing it.
O-rings are different from low-pressure pipe 1 (h igh-pressure pipe 2) and low-pressure pipe 2 (high-
pressure pipe 3).
When recharging refrigerant, check for leaks.
Checking of Refrigerant LeaksINFOID:0000000001328231
Perform a visual inspection of all refrigeration parts, fittings, hoses and components for signs of A/C lubricant
leakage, damage and corrosion. A/C lubricant leakage ma y indicate an area of refrigerant leakage. Allow
extra inspection time in these areas when using either an electrical leak detector or fluorescent dye leak
detector (SST: J-42220).
If dye is observed, c onfirm the leak with an electrical leak detector. It is possible a prior leak was repaired and
not properly cleaned.
When searching for leaks, do not stop when one leak is found but continue to check for additional leaks at all
system components and connections.
When searching for refrigerant leaks using an electric al leak detector, move the probe along the suspected
leak area at 1 to 2 inches per second and no further than 1/4 inch from the component.
CAUTION:
Moving the electrical leak detector probe slower and closer to the suspected leak area will improve the
chances of finding a leak.
Checking System for Leaks Using the Fluore scent Leak DetectorINFOID:0000000001328232
1. Check A/C system for leaks using the UV lamp and safety goggles (SST: J-42220) in a low sunlight area
(area without windows preferable). Illuminate all co mponents, fittings and lines. The dye will appear as a
bright green/yellow area at the point of leakage. Fluorescent dye observed at the evaporator drain open-
ing indicates an evaporator core assembly (tubes, core or expansion valve) leak.
2. If the suspected area is difficult to see, use an adjustable mirror or wipe the area with a clean shop rag or
cloth, with the UV lamp for dye residue.
3. After the leak is repaired, remove any residual dye using dye cleaner (SST: J-43872) to prevent future
misdiagnosis. Low-pressure pipe 1 bracket mounting bolt

STARTING THE SELF-DIAGNOSIS MODE
1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to ACC.
2. Within 10 seconds press and hold the switches “1” and “6” simultaneously for 3 seconds.
DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
The following are checked: All the indicators (LED) in the A/C and AV switch.
Continuity of the switches by sounding the buzze r when the A/C and AV switch and audio steering wheel
switch is pressed.
Continuity of harness between A/C and AV switch and audio steering switch.

Trouble DiagnosisINFOID:0000000001328684
The majority of the audio malfunctions are the result of outside causes (bad CD, electromagnetic interfer-
ence, etc.). Check the symptoms below to diagnose the malfunction.
The vehicle itself can be a source of noise if noise prevention parts or electrical equipment is malfunctioning.
Check if noise is caused and/or changed by engine speed, ignition switch turned to each position, and oper-
ation of each piece of electrical equipment, and then determine the cause.
Make sure that other operation except audio system can be performed with A/C and AV switch. If these
operations are inoperative with A/C and AV switch, refer to AV-79, "
Unable to Operate System with A/C and
AV Switch" (Without navigation system), or AV-127, "Unable to Operate System with A/C and AV Switch"
(With navigation system).
Refer to "SERVICE BULLETIN ITB04-055" for the diagnosis of satellite radio.

Locking CD Auto-Changer MechanismINFOID:0000000001328690
CAUTION:
Prior to removing a malfunctioning CD auto-changer unit that will be shipped for repair, the changer mechanism MUST BE LOCKED to prevent the mech anism from being damaged during shipping.
If a CD is jammed or unable to be removed from th e unit, do NOT lock the changer mechanism. If the
unit is to be shipped for repair, carefully package the unit to prevent vibration and shock.
DAMPER LOCK PROCEDURE
1. Eject and remove any CDs from the audio unit.
2. Turn ignition switch OFF. Wait until audio unit display is off and mechanism stops moving (mechanism
sound stops).
3. Press any one of the disc selection buttons once. When a display shows on the audio unit, press the
same disc selection button again within 5 seconds.
The changer mechanism will lock itself within 10 seconds.
4. After mechanism stops moving (mechanism s ound stops), open the driver and passenger window, and
then disconnect negative battery cable.
NOTE:
After installing a new or remanufactured audio unit, switching the audio unit ON will automatically unlock the
mechanism. A special unlocking procedure is not required.
Removal and Installation of Audio UnitINFOID:0000000001328691
REMOVAL
1. Perform damper lock operation. Refer to AV-41, "Locking CD Auto-Changer Mechanism".
2. Remove cluster lid C. Refer to IP-10
.
