Deactivation warning lights
If one of the following warning lights
c o m e s o n , t h i s c o n fi r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e -
sponding system has been switched off
intentionally. Dynamic stability control
(ESP/ASR) deactivation
The ESP/ASR system is put
into service automatically when
the vehicle is started.
A s p e c i fi c b u t t o n , l o c a t e d i n t h e c e n t r e
of the dashboard, permits deactivation
o f t h e s y s t e m . T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y c o n -
tinuous lighting of this warning lamp and
of the indicator lamp on the button.
From approximately 30 mph (50km/h),
the system is reactivated automatically.
Passenger’s air bag system
deactivation
The passenger’s air bag system
is put into service automatically
when the vehicle is started.
A s p e c i fi c c o n t r o l , l o c a t e d o n
the driver’s side of the fascia, permits
deactivation of the system. This is con-
fi r m e d b y c o n t i n u o u s l i g h t i n g o f t h i s
warning light on the instrument panel or
on the seat belt and passenger’s front
air bag warning lights display.
Do not install a "rearwards facing"
child seat when the front passenger
airbag is activated, or the child risks
being killed or seriously injured. When the front passenger air-
bag is activated, this warning
light comes on on the instru-
ment panel or in the front pas-
senger seat belt and airbag
warning light display for about
a minute.

system.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the en-
gine management system.
I f i t fl a s h e s , i t i n d i c a t e s t h e o c c u r r e n c e
of a fault in the emission control sys-
tem.
Low fuel level. If this comes on, it indicates that
you only have enough fuel left
to drive approximately 30 miles
(50 km).
The capacity of the tank is approximately
50 litres.
Coolant temperature.
If this comes on, it indicates that
the temperature in the cooling
system is too high.
Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Wait for a few minutes before switching
off the engine.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
After a few minutes driving, the tempera-
ture and the pressure rise in the cooling
system.
Air bags.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in one of
the air bag or seat belt preten-
sioner systems.
Power steering
If this is displayed, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
the power steering. Get to a
CITROËN dealership as safely
as possible.
Door open.
A door or the boot is open:
Battery charge.
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in the
battery charging circuit (dirty or
loose terminals, slack or cut alternator
belt...). Engine oil pressure.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the en-
gine lubrication circuit. Stop the
vehicle as soon as it is safe to
do so.
To top up the level:
wait for the engine to cool down,
unscrew the cap by 2 turns to allow
the pressure to fall,
when the pressure has fallen, re-
move the cap,
top up the level to the "MAXI" mark.
Seat belt not fastened/
unfastened.
If this comes on, it indicates
that the driver and/or the front
passenger has not fastened or has un-
fastened his seat belt.
It also indicates that one or more rear
passengers have unfastened their seat
belt.

if the speed is below 6 mph (10 km/h),
this warning light comes on continuously.
- if the speed is higher than 6 mph (10 km/h), this warning light comes on
continuously, accompanied by an audi-
ble signal.

Move the corresponding front seat
forward if necessary.
Place the head restraints in the low
position.
Pull control A , to release the seat
back which folds easily onto the
seat cushion.
This manoeuvre is accompanied by an
automatic recoil of the seat cushion.

To put the seat back in position once
again:
Move the seat back backwards until
it locks in place.
Position the seat cushion as re-

the benchseat is in the forward position.

A d j u s t i n g t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t s
T h e 1 / 3 - 2 / 3 r e a r b e n c h s e a t i s fi t t e d
with head restraints.
They have a high position (for comfort
and safety) and a low position (for rear
visibility).
They may be removed; to do so:
pull the head restraint upwards as
far as possible,
then, press on the lug A .
When you are carrying rear pas-
sengers, never drive with the head
restraints removed. They must be
secured in place in the high posi-
tion. When putting back in position, be
careful not to jam the seat belts. E n s u r e t h a t t h e y a r e c o r r e c t l y fi x e d
to the seat back before any ma-
noeuvre.

the seat by two removable plastic
clips.
T o d e t a c h t h e fl a p s f r o m t h e r e a r o f
t h e s e a t b a c k , p r e s s fi r m l y o n t h e
upper part of the two plastic clips,
downwards, to release them.
To avoid any risk of breaking, they
recoil if subjected to excessive
force.

CITROËN recommends that chil-
dren should travel in the rear seats
of your vehicle:
- "rearwards-facing" up to the
age of 2,
- "forwards-facing" over the
age of 2.
GENERAL POINTS RELATING TO CHILD SEATS INSTALLING A CHILD SEAT USING A THREE POINT SEAT BELT
"Forwards-facing"
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat ,
adjust the vehicle's seat to the interme-
diate longitudinal position with the seat
back upright and leave the passenger
airbag activated.
"Rearwards-facing"
When a "rearwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the
front passenger seat ,
it is essential that the passenger airbag
is deactivated. Otherwise, the child
would risk being seriously injured or
killed if the
airbag
w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
Intermediate longitudinal position

The rules for transporting children are
s p e c i fi c t o e a c h c o u n t r y . R e f e r t o t h e
current legislation in your country.
A l t h o u g h o n e o f C I T R O Ë N ' s m a i n c r i -
teria when designing your vehicle, the
safety of your children also depends on
you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- in accordance with European reg-
ulations, all children under the
age of 12 or less than one
and a
half metres
tall must travel in ap-
proved child seats suited to their
weight , o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h a s e a t
belt or ISOFIX mountings * ,
- statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for the transportation
of children are the rear seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front
a n d i n t h e r e a r .
