VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR MTR
DescriptionINFOID:0000000001712989
The vehicle speed sensor·MTR is built into the speedometer assembly. The sensor functions as an auxiliary
device to the revolution sensor when it is malfunctioning. The TCM will then use a signal sent from the vehicle
speed sensor·MTR.
CONSULT-III Reference Value in Data Monitor ModeINFOID:0000000001712990
Remarks: Specification data are reference values.
On Board Diagnosis LogicINFOID:0000000001712991
Diagnostic trouble code “VHCL SPEED SEN-MTR” with CONSULT-III or 2nd judgement flicker without CON-
SULT-III is detected when TCM does not receive the proper voltage signal from the sensor.
Possible CauseINFOID:0000000001712992
Harness or connector
(Sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
Vehicle speed sensor
DTC Confirmation ProcedureINFOID:0000000001712993
CAUTION:
Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
If performing this “DTC Confirmation Procedure” again, always turn ignition switch OFF and wait at
least 10 seconds before continuing.
After the repair, perform the following procedure to confirm the malfunction is eliminated.
WITH CONSULT-III
1. Turn ignition switch ON and select “DATA MONITOR” mode for “TRANSMISSION” with CONSULT-III.
2. Touch “START”.
3. Start engine and accelerate vehicle from 0 to 25 km/h (0 to 16 MPH).
4. If the check result is NG, go to TM-359, "
Diagnosis Procedure".

TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID VALVE
DescriptionINFOID:0000000001713026
The torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, with the gear in D4 and D3, by the TCM in response
to signals sent from the vehicle speed sensor and the ECM (throttle opening). Lock-up piston operation will
then be controlled.
Lock-up operation, however, is prohibited when A/T fluid temperature is too low.
When the accelerator pedal is depressed (less than 2/8) on lock-up condition, the engine speed should not
change abruptly. If there is an abrupt change in engine speed, there is no lock-up.
CONSULT-III Reference Value in Data Monitor ModeINFOID:0000000001713027
Remarks: Specification data are reference values.
On Board Diagnosis LogicINFOID:0000000001713028
Diagnostic trouble code “T/C CLUTCH SOL/V” with CONSULT-III or 7th judgement flicker without CONSULT-
III is detected when TCM detects an improper voltage drop while it tries to operate the solenoid valve.
Possible CauseINFOID:0000000001713029
