Your Hyundai is equipped with dual- diagonal braking systems. This meansyou still have braking on two wheels even if one of the dual systems should fail. With only one of the dual systemsworking, more than normal pedal travel and greater pedal pressure are re- quired to stop the car. Also, the car willnot stop in as short a distance with only half of the brake system working. If the brakes fail while you are driving, shiftto a lower gear for additional engine braking and stop the car as soon as it is safe to do so.
B260J01S-GAT Charging System Warning Light
The charging system warning light should come on when the ignition isturned on, then go out when the engine is running. If the light stays on while the engine is running, there is a malfunc-tion in the electrical charging system. If the light comes on while you are driv- ing, stop, turn off the engine and checkunder the hood. First, make certain the generator drive belt is in place. If it is, check the tension of the belt.And then, have the system checked by your Hyundai dealer.
CAUTION:
If the drive belt (generator belt) is loosen, broken, or mission whilethe vehicle is driving, there may be a serious malfunction, engine could overheat because this belt alsodrives the water pump.

Door Ajar Warning Light
The door ajar warning light warns you that a door is not completely closed. B260M01A-AAT Low Fuel Level Warning Light
The low fuel level warning light comes on when the fuel tank is approaching empty. When it comes on, you shouldadd fuel as soon as possible. Driving with the fuel level warning light on or with the fuel level below "E" can causethe engine to misfire and damage the catalytic converter.

This front fog indicator light comes on whenever the front fog lamp switchesare on.

B270A01A-GAT BRAKE PAD WEAR WARNING SOUND (If Installed) The front disc brake pads have wear indicators that should make a high-pitched squealing or scraping noise when new pads are needed. The sound may come and go or be heard all thetime when the vehicle is moving. It may also be heard when the brake pedal is pushed down firmly. WARNING:
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The engine cool-ant is under pressure and could erupt and cause severe burns. Wait until the engine is cool before re-moving the radiator cap.

Fuel vapors are dangerous. Before refueling, always stop the engineand never allow sparks or open flames near the filler area. If you need to replace the filler cap, use agenuine Hyundai replacement part. If you open the fuel filler cap during high ambient temperatures, a slight"pressure sound" may be heard. explosive materials. When refuel-ing, please note the following guidelines carefully.- Before touching the fuel nozzle or fuel filler cap, have one'shands in contact with metalparts away from the filler neck to discharge static electricity.
- Do not get back in the vehicle
while refueling. Do not operateanything that can produce static electricity. Static electricity dis- charge can ignite fuel vapors resulting in an explosion.
- When using a portable fuel con- tainer, be sure to place the con-tainer on the ground while refu-eling. Static electricity dis- charge from the container can ignite fuel vapors causing afire. While starting refueling, contact should be maintained until the filling is complete.
- Do not use cellular phones around a gas station. The elec-tric current or electronic inter-ference from cellular phones can ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
REMOTE FUEL-FILLER LID RELEASE
B560A02HP-GAT The fuel-filler lid may be opened from inside the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel-filler lid release lever located be- low the right of the driver's side crashpad. NOTE: If the fuel-filler lid will not open because ice has formed around it, tap lightly or push on the lid to break the ice and release the lid. Donot pry on the lid. If necessary, spray around the lid with an ap- proved de-icer fluid (do not useradiator anti-freeze) or move the vehicle to a warm place and allow the ice to melt. B560A01HP

Window washer anti-freeze is available fromHyundai dealers and most auto parts outlets. Do not use engine coolant or other types of anti-freeze as thesemay damage the finish. C160I01HP-GAT Don't Let Your Parking Brake Freeze Under some conditions your parking brake can freeze in the engaged posi- tion. This is most likely to happen whenthere is an accumulation of snow or ice around or near the rear brakes or if the brakes are wet. If there is a risk theparking brake may freeze, apply it only temporarily while you put the gear selec- tor lever in "P" (automatic) or in first orreverse gear (manual transmission) and block the rear wheels so the car cannot roll. 1. Before towing, check hitch and safety chain connections as well as proper operation of the trailer running lights, brake lights, and turn signals.
2. Always drive your vehicle at a mod- erate speed (Less than 100 km/h).
3. Trailer towing requires more fuel than normal conditions.
4. To maintain engine braking effi-
ciency, do not tow a trailer with thetransmission in fifth gear (manual transmission) or an overdrive gear (automatic transmission).
5. Always secure items in the trailer to prevent load shift while driving.
6. Check the condition and air pres- sure of all tires on the trailer and your car. Low tire pressure can seriously affect the handling. Alsocheck the spare tire.

7. The vehicle/trailer combination is more affected by crosswind and buffeting. When being passed by a large vehicle, keep a constant speed and steer straight ahead. Ifthere is too much wind buffeting slow down to get out of the other vehicle's air turbulence.
8. When parking your car and trailer, especially on a hill, be sure to fol-low all the normal precautions. Turnyour front wheel into the curb, set the parking brake firmly, and put the transmission in 1st or Reverse(manual) or Park (automatic). In addition, place wheel chocks at each of the trailer's tires.
9. If the trailer has electric brakes, start your vehicle and trailer mov-ing, and then apply the trailer brakecontroller by hand to be sure the brakes are working. This lets you check your electrical connection atthe same time.
10. During your trip, check occasion-
ally to be sure that the load issecure, and that the lights and any trailer brakes are still working.
