o Before you replace a fuse or dis- connect a battery terminal, turnthe ignition key to the "LOCK"position or remove the ignition key. Your Hyundai is equipped with a side impact airbag in each front seat. The purpose of the airbag is to provide the vehicle's driver and/or the front passen-ger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt alone. The side impact airbags are designed to deployonly during certain side impact colli- sions, depending on the crash severity, angle, speed and point of impact. Theside impact airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.
!WARNING:
o The side impact airbag is supple- mental to the driver's and the passenger's seat belt systems and is not a substitute for them. There-fore your seat belts must be worn at all times while the vehicle is in motion.The airbags deploy only in certain side impact conditions severe enough to cause significant injuryto the vehicle occupants.
o For best protection from the side
impact airbag system and to avoidbeing injured by the deploying side impact airbag, both front seat occupants should sit in an uprightposition with the seat belt proper- ly fastened.

B340A01A-AAT Combination Turn Signal, Headlight and High-beamSwitchTurn Signal Operation Pulling down on the lever causes the turn signals on the left side of the car to blink. Pushing upwards on the levercauses the turn signals on the right side of the car to blink. As the turn is completed, the lever will automaticallyreturn to the center position and turn off the turn signals at the same time. If either turn signal indicator light blinksmore rapidly than usual, goes on but does not blink, or does not go on at all, there is a malfunction in the system.Check for a burned-out fuse or bulb or see your Hyundai dealer. B340B01A-AAT Lane Change Signal To indicate a lane change, move the lever up or down to a point where it begins flashing.The lever will automatically return to the center position when released.
B340C03E-AAT Headlight Switch To operate the headlights, turn the bar- rel on the end of the multi-function switch. The first position turns on theparking lights, sidelights, tail lights and instrument panel lights. The second position turns on the headlights. 1. Check fuel level.
2. With the key in the off position,
Check all connectors at ignition coils and spark plugs. Reconnect any that may be disconnected or loose.
3. Check the fuel line in the engine room.
4. If engine still refuses to start, call a Hyundai dealer or seek other quali- fied assistance.
D010D01A-AAT If Engine Stalls While Driving
1. Reduce your speed gradually, keep- ing a straight line. Move cautiously off the road to a safe place.
2. Turn on your emergency flashers.
3. Try to start the engine again. If your vehicle will not start, contact aHyundai dealer or seek other quali-fied assistance.
1. If your car has an automatic transaxle,
be sure the gear selector lever is in "N" or "P" and the emergency brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you operate the starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to

CHECKING AND REPLACING FUSES

Replacing a Fusible Link
A fusible link will melt if the electrical circuits from the battery are ever over-loaded, thus preventing damage to the entire wiring harness. (This could be caused by a short in the systemdrawing too much current.) If this ever happens, have a Hyundai dealer determine the cause, repair the sys-tem and replace the fusible link. The fusible links are located in a relay box(1.6L/2.0L) or below the positive(+) post cover of the battery (2.7L) for easy inspection. CAUTION:
When replacing a fusible link, never
use anything but a new fusible link with the same or lower amper-age rating. Never use a piece of wire or a higher-rated fusible link. This could result in serious dam-age and create a fire hazard.
Good G200B02A-AAT Replacing Accessory Fuse The fuse box for the lights and other electrical accessories will be foundlow on the dashboard on the driver's side. Inside the box you will find a list showing the circuits protected by eachfuse.If any of your car's lights or otherelectrical accessories stop working, ablown fuse could be the reason. If the fuse has burned out, you will see that the metal strip inside the fuse hasburned through. If you suspect a blown fuse, follow this procedure:

1. Turn off the ignition and all other
switches.
2. Open the fuse box and examine each fuse. Remove each fuse by pulling it toward you (a small "fusepuller" tool is contained in the fuse box to simplify this operation).
3. Be sure to check all other fuses even if you find one that appears to have burned out. 4. Replace the blown fuse by pressing
a new fuse of the same rating intoplace. The fuse should be a snug fit. If it is not, have the fuse clip repaired or replaced by a Hyundaidealer. If you do not have a spare fuse, you may be able to borrow a fuse of the same or lower ratingfrom an accessory you can tempo- rarily get along without (the radio or cigarette lighter, for example). Al-ways remember to replace the bor- rowed fuse. CAUTION:
A burned-out fuse indicates that
there is a problem in the electricalcircuit. If you replace a fuse and it blows as soon as the accessory isturned on, the problem is serious and should be referred to a Hyundai dealer for diagnosis andrepair. Never replace a fuse with anything except a fuse with the same or a lower amperage rating.A higher capacity fuse could cause damage and create a fire hazard.
