required to connect to Acura. This is
used to access the most recent
diagnostic inf ormation when a
problem occurs. Select ON to have
the system automatically read each
message to you. Select OFF to
manually select the Voice button
when you want a message read to
you.
To access the f ollowing f unctions,
press the SETUP button, push the
interf ace dial to the right to select
MORE, then rotate the interf ace dial
to select AcuraLink/Messages.
Select this
button to delete all stored messages
within a category, except f or
diagnostic info and recall campaign
messages. These messages can only
be deleted by a certif ied technician
af ter the recall or problem is done or
corrected, or through a broadcast
message f rom Acura.
Select ON if you want to be notif ied
of new messages (envelope icon
appears on the navigation screen).
Select OFF if you do not want to be
notif ied of new messages (envelope
icon does not appear on the
navigation screen). For the Phone Data
Connection button to be active, you
need a Bluetooth compatible and
enabled cell phone paired to the
HandsFreeLink (HFL), and a
compatible data service (see on page ).235

Depending on the severity of the
problem, the message will let you
know if you should see your dealer
immediately or if you can wait a
while.
You will see inf ormation f rom the
onboard troubleshooting database.
You can then use message options to
call your dealer f or an appointment,
f ind the nearest dealer, or f ind out
more inf ormation about the issue.
When an instrument panel indicator
comes on, AcuraLink immediately
notif ies you with the message,
‘‘Check more inf ormation.’’ If you do
not want the information right away,
select the Check Later option. If you
want the inf ormation now, select the
Check Now option. (If the navigation
screen is not active, you must select
OK from the navigation disclaimer
screen bef ore you can check the
inf ormation.)
If an instrument panel indicator stays
on when it should go of f , or a
message appears on the multi-
inf ormation display, AcuraLink can
identif y the problem, send the
inf ormation to Acura f or analysis,
andthenprovideyouwiththemost
accurate repair inf ormation available-
all bef ore going to a dealer. This
helps you handle the problem as it
occurs, preventing or limiting costly
repairs.
A diagnostic message is generated if
any of the instrument panel
indicators stay on when they should
go of f . For more inf ormation on the

The AcuraLink system cannot
determinesomemechanical
problems (such as squeaks or
rattles) that are not triggered by the
diagnostic indicator monitors.

Bluetooth is the wireless technology
that links your phone to the HFL.
TheHFLusesaClass3Bluetooth,
which means the maximum range
between your phone and vehicle is
30 f eet (10 meters).
HFL recognizes simple voice
commands, such as phone numbers
and names. It uses these commands
to automatically dial, receive, and
store numbers. For more
inf ormation on voice control, see
UsingVoiceControlonpage . Here are the main f eatures of the
HFL. Instructions f or using the HFL
begin on page . Your vehicle is equipped with the
HandsFreeLink (HFL). HFL uses
Bluetooth technology as a wireless
link between it and your Bluetooth
compatible cell phone. When you are
in your vehicle and your phone is
linked to the HFL, you’ll enjoy
hands-f ree phone use. The HFL is
available in both English and French
(Canadian models only). To change
the language, see page . To use the HFL, your phone must
have approved Bluetooth capability
along with the Hands Free Prof ile.
This type of phone is available
through many phone makers and
cellular carriers. You can also find an
approved phone by visiting In Canada, visit With a linked phone, the HFL allows
you to send and receive calls in your
vehicle without holding the phone.
The HFL can store up to 50 names
and phone numbers in its phonebook.
Withalinkedphone,youcanthen
automatically dial any name or
number in the phonebook.

Here is the function of each HFL
button:
HFLTalk:Thisbuttonisusedbefore
you give a command, to answer
incoming calls, and to conf irm
system inf ormation.
HFLBack:Thisbuttonisusedto
end a call, go back to the previous
voice control command, and to
cancel an operation.
To operate the HFL, use the HFL
Talk and Back buttons on the left
side of the steering wheel. Below the
HFL buttons is another set of voice
control buttons f or the navigation,
climate control, and audio systems.
When the HFL is in use, the sound
comes through the vehicle’s f ront
audio system speakers. If the audio
system is in use while making a call,
the HFL over-rides the audio system.
To change the volume level, use the
audio system volume knob.

driving positions will be lost. To
store the driving positions again, see

If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected or goes dead, the power tilt and telescopic steering
wheel system will be disabled. The
system needs to be reset af ter
reconnecting the battery (see page
). Push the tabs and remove the
cover by pulling it up caref ully.
To reinstall the cover, put the tabs
of the cover back to the original
position properly.
