At the gas stationRefuelling
The fuel filler flap is located on the
right-hand side of the vehicle towards the
rear. Locking/unlocking the vehicle with
the SmartKey or the SmartKey with
KEYLESS-GO* automatically locks/un-
locks the fuel filler flap.

Turn off the engine

by turning the SmartKey to
position0. Remove the SmartKey
from the starter switch.


by pressing the KEYLESS-GO*
start/stop button. Open the driv-
er's door (with the driver's door
open, starter switch is in position 0,
same as SmartKey removed from
starter switch).

Open the fuel filler flap by pushing at
the point indicated by the arrow.
The fuel filler flap springs open.

Turn the fuel cap to the left and hold on
to it until possible pressure is released.

Take off the cap and set it in the recess
on the fuel filler flap.

Only fill your tank until the filler nozzle
unit cuts out – do not top up or over-
fill.

Gasoline is highly flammable and poisonous.
It burns violently and can cause serious inju-
ry. Whenever you are around gasoline, avoid
inhaling fumes and skin contact, extinguish
all smoking materials. Never allow sparks,
flame or smoking materials near gasoline!

Engine oil
The amount of oil your engine needs will
depend on a number of factors, including
driving style. Higher oil consumption can
occur when

the vehicle is new


the vehicle is driven frequently at
higher engine speeds
Engine oil consumption checks should only
be made after the vehicle break-in period.Checking engine oil level with the
control system
When checking the oil level the vehicle
must


be parked on level ground


be at normal operating temperature


have been stationary for at least five
minutes with the engine turned off
To check the engine oil level via the
multifunction display, do the following:

Switch on the ignition.
The standard display (
page 127) should
appear in the multifunction display.

Press buttonk orj on the
steering wheel until the following
message appears in the multifunction
displays:
iDo not use any special lubricant addi-
tives, as these may damage the drive
assemblies. Using special additives not
approved by Mercedes-Benz will
restrict your warranty entitlement.

One of the following messages will
subsequently appear in the right multi-
function display:

repeating the check procedure.

If engine is not yet at normal operating
temperature, wait 30 minutes before
repeating the check procedure.

Turn off the engine.

If the engine is at normal operating
temperature, wait five minutes before
checking oil.

If the engine is not yet at normal
operating temperature, you must wait
30 minutes before checking oil.
iIf you want to interrupt the checking
procedure, press thek orj
button on the multifunction steering
wheel.

Tires and wheels

Switch on ignition.

Make sure you are viewing the stan-
dard display menu (
page 127).

Press k button until the current in-
flation pressures for each tire appear in
the tachometer display field.iPossible differences between the read-
ings of a tire pressure gauge of an air
hose, e.g. gas station equipment, and
the vehicle’s control system can occur.
The readings issued by the control sys-
tem are more precise.
Warning!
G
The tire inflation pressure monitor does not
indicate a warning for wrongly selected in-
flation pressures. Always adjust tire inflation
pressure according to the label on the fuel
filler flap.
The tire inflation pressure monitor is not
able to issue a warning due to a sudden dra-
matic loss of pressure (e.g. tire blowout
caused by a foreign object). In the event of
a sudden loss of pressure, bring the vehicle
to a halt by carefully applying the brakes and
avoiding abrupt steering maneuvers.

Follow recommend tire pressures.
Do not overinflate tires. Overinflating tires
can result in sudden deflation (blowout) be-
cause they are more likely to become punc-
tured or damaged by road debris, potholes,
etc.
Do not underinflate tires. Underinflated tires
wear unevenly, adversely affect handling
and fuel economy, and are more likely to fail
from being overheated.
Do not overload the tires by exceeding the
specified vehicle capacity weight (as indicat-
ed by the label on the pillar in the driver’s
door opening). Overloading the tires can
overheat them, possibly causing a blowout.iOperating radio transmission equip-
ment (e.g. wireless headsets, two-way
radios) in or near the vehicle could
cause the tire inflation pressure moni-
tor to malfunction.

You must activate the tire inflation pres-
sure monitor in the following cases:

if you have changed the tire pressure


if you have replaced the wheels or tires


if you have installed new wheels or
tires

Make sure the tire pressure is set cor-
rectly.

Press the k button on the multi-
function steering wheel until the infla-
tion pressure of each tire appears in
the right display field.

Press the reset button (
page 22).
The following message will appear in
the speedometer display field:
Monitor current tire pressure?


Press æ button.
The following message will appear in
the speedometer display field:Tire pressure displayed
after
driving a few mins.
Reactivate w/
R-button
If you wish to cancel activation:
Press ç button.
If the following message appears in the
speedometer display field:
Reactivate tire press. monit.


Re-start the activation of the tire infla-
tion pressure monitor.
If the following message appears in the
speedometer display field:
Tire pressure

Check tires!


Re-start the activation of the tire infla-
tion pressure monitor.
iIf transporting a deflated road wheel or
additional wheel sensors in the vehicle,
the tire inflation pressure monitor
should not be reactivated until the de-
flated wheel or additional wheel sen-
sors have been removed from the
vehicle. Otherwise, the deflated wheel
or additional sensors could confuse the
tire inflation pressure monitor system
and cause it to malfunction.

Maintenance
We strongly recommend that you have
your vehicle serviced by an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center, in accordance with
the Service Booklet at the times called for
by the FSS (F
lexible S
ervice S
ystem).
Failure to have the vehicle maintained in
accordance with the Service Booklet at the
designated times /mileage called for by
the FSS may result in vehicle damage not
covered by the Mercedes-Benz Limited
Warranty.
FSS will notify you when your next service
is due.
Approximately one month before your next
service is due, one of the following mes-
sages will appear in the right multifunction
display while you are driving or when you
switch on the ignition (example service A):
Service A in xx days
Service A in xx miles (km)
Service A Due now!
The type of service due is indicated in the
left multifunction display:
9Minor service (A)
´Major service (B)
Clearing the service indicator
The service indicator is automatically
cleared after 30 seconds. You can also
clear it yourself.
Press reset button1.

iThe interval between services depends
on your driving habits. A gentle driving
style, moderate engine speeds and the
avoidance of short-distance trips will
lengthen the interval between services.

If you have exceeded the suggested ser-
vice term, you will see the following mes-
sage in the right multifunction display:Service A exceeded by xx days
Service A exceeded by xx miles (km)An acoustic signal will also sound.
The Mercedes-Benz Center will reset the
service indicator following a completed
service.
Calling up the service indicator
Switch on ignition.
The standard display of the control sys-
tem appears (
page 127).

Press button k or j on the
multifunction steering wheel until the
FSS indicator service symbol 9 or
´ appears in the left multifunction
display and the service deadline ap-
pears in the right multifunction display.
Resetting the service indicator
In the event that the service on your vehi-
cle is not carried out by an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center, you can reset the
service indicator yourself.
Switch on ignition.
The standard display of the control sys-
tem appears (
page 127).

Press button k or j on the
multifunction steering wheel until the
FSS indicator service symbol 9 or
´ appears in the left multifunction
display and the service deadline ap-
pears in the right multifunction display.

Press the reset button for about four
seconds.
The following message appears in the
tachometer:Service Interval...
Reset:
R-Button 3 Sec.
iIf the battery supplying the vehicle’s
electrical consumers is disconnected,
the days of disconnection will not be in-
cluded in the count shown by the ser-
vice indicator. To arrive at the true
service deadline, you will need to sub-
tract these days from the days shown
in the service indicator.
Do not confuse the service indicator
with the engine oil level indicator :.

Maintenance

To confirm, press and hold reset button
until you hear a signal.
The service indicator now displays the
reset interval.iIf the service indicator was inadvertent-
ly reset, have a Mercedes-Benz Center
correct it.
Only reset if the proper service has
been performed. Resetting the system
without performing proper service as
called for by the FSS will cause the FSS
to incorrectly determine the next ser-
vice interval which may result in engine
damage not covered by the
Mercedes-Benz Limited Warranty.
