Partition net:
Pull out upper blind (safety net) and engage into eyelets
on the roof (1). This is a particularly important safety
factor when the vehicle is loaded higher than the top of
the seat backrest.Removal of twin-reel roller blind:
Fold backrest sections forward, push cover mechanism
to the left and remove.

The rear-facing bench seat can be unfolded to enlarge
the seating area.
By pressing down on the handle, lift the backrest into
place. Raise the seat cushion in a similar manner.
Hook the safety belts into the brackets (1) provided.

Prior to occupying the rear-facing bench seat, the
rear seat backrests must be in an upright position
and locked in place.To avoid possible injury to the rear-facing bench
seat occupants, the bench should be used by no
more than two passengers not taller than 5 ft.
(150 cm).

Note:
If the rear-facing bench seat is to be occupied, the
forward-facing split rear bench seat must be equipped
with head restraints.
To stow the rear-facing bench seat, proceed in reverse
order, pulling the seat cushion up by its strap (2).Cup holder next to seat
Fold down cup holder to open.
Caution!
When not in use, keep the cup holder closed. Place only
containers that fit into the cup holder to prevent spills.
Use lids on open containers and do not fill containers to
a height where the contents, especially hot liquids,
could spill during vehicle maneuvers.

The handling characteristics of a fully loaded vehicle
depend greatly on the load distribution. It is therefore
recommended to load the vehicle according to the
illustrations shown, with the heaviest items being
placed towards the front of the vehicle.The total load weight including vehicle occupants and
luggage / cargo should not exceed the vehicle capacity
weight indicated on the certification label which can be
found on the left door pillar.
Always place items being carried against front or rear
seat backrests, and fasten them as securely as possible.
The heaviest portion of the cargo should always be kept
as low as possible since it influences the handling
characteristics of the vehicle.

Always fasten items being carried as securely as
possible.In an accident, during hard braking or sudden
maneuvers, loose items will be thrown around
inside the vehicle, and can cause injury to vehicle
occupants unless the items are securely fastened in
the vehicle.To help avoid personal injury during a collision or
sudden maneuver, exercise care when transporting
cargo.Never drive vehicle with tailgate open. Deadly
carbon monoxide (CO) gases may enter vehicle
interior resulting in unconsciousness and death.

Cargo tie-down rings
Eight rings are located in the cargo compartment.
Additional two rings can be found ahead of the split rear
bench seat on the cross member.
Carefully secure cargo by applying even load on all
rings with rope of sufficient strength to hold down the
cargo.Parcel net in front passenger footwell
A small convenience parcel net is located in the front
passenger footwell. It is for small and light items, such
as road maps, mail, etc..

Do not place heavy or fragile objects, or objects
having sharp edges, in the parcel net.In an accident, during hard braking or sudden
maneuvers, they could be thrown around inside
the vehicle, and cause injury to vehicle occupants.

Cellular telephone
The vehicle is prepared for the installation of a cellular
telephone. For further information and installation
contact your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

A driver’s attention to the road must always be his/
her primary focus when driving. For your safety
and the safety of others, we recommend that you
pull over to a safe location and stop before placing
or taking a telephone call. If you choose to use the
telephone while driving, please use the hands-free
device and only use the telephone when road,
weather and traffic conditions permit.Some jurisdictions prohibit the driver from using a
cellular telephone while driving a vehicle.Bear in mind that at a speed of just 30 mph
(approximately 50 km/h), your vehicle is covering
a distance of approximately 50 feet (approximately
14 m ) e v e r y s e c o n d . Never operate radio transmitters equipped with a
built-in or attached antenna (i.e. without being
connected to an external antenna) from inside the
vehicle while the engine is running. Doing so could
lead to a malfunction of the vehicle’s electronic
system, possibly resulting in an accident and
personal injury.

Some jurisdictions prohibit the driver from using a
cellular telephone while driving a vehicle. Whether
or not prohibited by law, for safety reasons, the
driver should not use the cellular telephone while
the vehicle is in motion. Stop the vehicle in a safe
location before answering or placing a call.

3Hand-held remote control transmitterThe built-in remote control is capable of operating up to
three separately controlled objects.
Note:
Certain types of garage door openers are incompatible
with the integrated opener. If you should experience
difficulties with programming the transmitter, contact
your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center, or call
Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (in the USA
only) at 1-800-FOR-MERCedes, or Customer Service (in
Canada) at 1-800-387-0100.
For operation in the USA only: This device complies
with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to
the following two conditions:
(1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired
operation.
Any unauthorized modification to this device could void
to the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

remote control:
1. Turn electronic key in steering lock to position 1
or 2.
2. Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter of the
device you wish to train approximately 2 to 5 inches
(5 cm to 12 cm) away from the surface of the
integrated remote control located on the inside rear
view mirror, keeping the indicator lamp in view.
3. Using both hands, simultaneously push the hand-
held transmitter button and the desired integrated
remote control button. Do not release the buttons
until completing step 4.4. The indicator lamp on the integrated remote control
will flash, first slowly and then rapidly. When the
indicator lamp flashes rapidly, both buttons may be
released (the rapid flashing lamp indicates
successful programming of the new frequency
signal). To program the remaining two buttons,
follow steps 1 through 4.
Note:
If, after several attempts, you do not successfully
program the integrated remote control device to learn
the signal of the hand-held transmitter, the garage door
opener could be equipped with the “rolling code
feature”.
