Operating abnormality Any operating abnormality is indica- ted by an audible signal accompa-nied by the message "Automatic
gearbox faulty" on the multi-func-
tion display and flashing of the Sportand Snow warning lights on the ins-trument panel. In this situation thegearbox operates in downgrade
mode (locked in 3rd gear). You mayfeel a substantial knock when chan-ging from Pto Rand from Nto R
(this will not cause any damage tothe gearbox). Do not exceed 60 mph (100 km/h), speed restrictions permitting.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible. When this warning lightcomes on, accompanied byan audible signal and themessage
"Braking fault" , it
indicates that there is a mal-
function of the electronic brake forcedistribution, which can cause a lossof control of the vehicle when bra-king.
Stop immediately.

HANDBRAKE Locking Pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle.

ABS ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
The ABS system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD)increases the stability and manoeu-vrability of your vehicle, particularlyon poor or slippery road surfaces. Note: when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are approved. The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically whenthere is a risk of wheel lock.

If the battery is flat and the lever is in position P, it
will be impossible tochange to another posi-tion. Normal operation of the ABS maymake itself felt by slight vibrationsof the brake pedal. In emergency braking, press very firmly without releasingthe pressure.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, thus reducingthe stopping distance. It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated, the effect ofwhich is a reduction in the resistance ofthe pedal and an increase in braking
efficiency.
TRACTION CONTROL (ASR)*
AND DYNAMIC STABILITY
CONTROL (ESP)* These systems are linked and com-
plement the ABS system.
The ASR system optimises drive to prevent the wheels skidding, byacting on the brakes and the engine.It also allows the directional stabilityof the vehicle to be improved onacceleration. If there is a variation between the tra- jectory followed by the vehicle and
that required by the driver, the ESPsystem automatically acts on theengine and the brake of one or morewheels, in order to put the vehicleback on course.
Operation of the ASR and

The ESP system offers increased safety duringnormal driving, but shouldnot incite the driver totake risks or to drive at
high speed. The operation of the system is ensured to the extent to which therecommendations of the manufac-turer regarding the wheels (tyresand wheel rims), the braking com-ponents, the electronic compo-nents and the assembly and repairprocedures within the PEUGEOTnetwork are observed. After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
CHANGING A BULB Front lights Note: on the right side, remove the style cover, fixed with
two plastic screws, to access the bulbs. Handle the bulbs with a dry cloth.
1 - Dipped beam headlamps: (H7-55W),
2 - Main beam headlamps: (H1-55W),
3 - Front fog lamps* (H1-55 W). Turn the protective cover corresponding to the faulty bulb a quarter of a turn and remove it.
Disconnect the connector.
Press the end of the securing clip to free it. Changethe bulb. When fitting the new bulb, ensure that the direction notches are positioned correctly and the securing clip
is fixed properly.
Reconnect the connector.
Refit the protective cover, positioning it with the arrowupwards, then turn it a quarter of a turn to the right. The headlamps are fitted with polycarbonate glass with aprotective coating.
Do not clean them with a dry or
abrasive cloth, nor with a detergent or solvent pro-duct. Use a sponge and soapy water.
4 - Side lights: (W 5 W). Pull the socket rearwards, remove the bulb and change it.
5 - Direction indicators: (PY 21 W amber). Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn and remove it.
Change the bulb.
Note: In certain climatic conditions (low temperature,
humidity), condensation inside the headlamp glass is
normal ; it disappears a few minutes after the lights are
switched on.
