REAR SEATS
To fold down the rear left seat (2/3 part) or right seat (1/3 part): Always start with the cushion, never with the seat back (there is a risk of damage):Ð Move the seat(s) forward if necessary, Ð Lift the front of the seat 1,
Ð Tilt the seat 1against the front seat(s),
Ð Check that the seat belt is in the correct position on the side of the seat back,Ð Pull control 2to unlock the seat back 3,
Ð Place the head restraints in the low position,
Ð Tilt the seat back 3.
When refitting: Ð Fold down the seat back and lock it (the red marker of control 2 must not be visible at this point), Ð Fold down the cushion.
Take care not to trap the seat belts.

FRONT SEATS
1. Forwards-backwards adjustmentLift the control and slide the seat forwards or backwards.
2. Access to rear seats (3 door) Pull the handle to fold the seatback and move the seat for-wards. On repositioning, the seat returns to its initial position.
Warning: no person or object
must prevent the seat from retur- ning to its initial position; a returnto this position is necessary forthe seat to lock in place.
3. Seat back angle adjustment Push the handle towards the
rear.
4. Driver's* or passenger's* seat height adjustment* Pull the handle upwardsor push it downwards as many times asnecessary to obtain the requiredposition.

re is controlled automatically. Pressing the switch again stops operation. Note : the command for activation
of the heating of the seat(s) remains memorised for twominutes after the ignition has
been switched off.
6. Front armrests* These can be folded down andare removable.
To remove them, press the but- ton located between the armrestand the side of the seat and pullit.
7. Front head restraint height and angle* adjustment
To raise or lower the restraint, pull it forwards, sliding it at thesame time. The angle of the head restraint can also be adjusted*.
To remove the head restraint, place it in the top position, lift thelug using a coin and pull it for-wards and upwards at the sametime. To put it back in position, locatethe stems of the restraint in theholes, taking care to keep themin line with the seat back.
Active seat back (front seat) This possesses a device to prevent "whiplash". When there is an impact from the
rear, the action of the body on theseat back forces the head restraintforwards and upwards, preventingthe head being thrown backwards.
8. Storage drawers* There is a storage drawer under each front seat.
Ð To open it, lift and pull.
Ð To take it out, open to its full extent, press the ends of the slides and lift
it, then remove it completely.
Do not place heavy objects in thedrawers. Under the front passenger seat, the layout of the floor allows for storageof a first aid kit and a warning triangle(small version).
* According to specification. REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS These have a high position for when they are in use and a low position forwhen they are stored.
To lower the head restraints, press the lug. The head restraints are removable.
To remove them, pull upwards as far as the stop then press the lug.

Rear armrest*
- Lower the armrest to access thestorage shelf on the seat back.
- Lift the lid. It contains a storage tray as well as two cup holders and two pen holders.

''Isofix''mountings Available on the two side rear seats,
and as an accessory on the front passenger seat*, the Isofix moun-tings allow for fitting of a special
child seat , approved by UTAC for
PEUGEOT vehicles and sold by
PEUGEOT dealers. The locks incorporated in the child seat fit onto the Isofix mountings andensure safe, reliable and fast assem-
bly. In the front
, the child seat must be
fitted:
- either in the "rear facing" position for children weighing between
3 and 11 kg front seat as far for-
ward as possible so that the body
of the child seat is in contact withor as close as possible to the ins-
trument panel. This position thuslimits movement of the child seat inthe event of an accident.
- or exceptionally the child seat may be fitted in the 'forwards facing'position if the rear seats are alrea-dy occupied by other children or ifthe rear seats cannot be used (notpresent, folded). In this case, usethe Isofix mountings, the restrai-ning cushion and the seat belt andadjust the front passenger seat tothe "mid-travel" position.
In both cases it is imperative todisarm the passenger air bag. In the rear , the child seat may be fit-
ted in the "rear facing" or "forwards facing" position. In this case the
front seat is in the intermediatelongitudinal position, seat backupright .
The combined use of the Isofixmountings, the restraining cushionand the seat belt is compulsory for aseat fitted "facing forward".

The special child seat, approved by
PEUGEOT, is the Isofix KIDDY seat.It can be used "rear facing" from 3 to
11 kg and "forwards facing" from 9 to18 kg. This seat can also be used on seats not fitted with Isofix mountings:buckling of the three-point seat belt
is then compulsory. Follow the instructions for fitting the child seat given in the instruc-tion booklet. * During 2001.
CHILD SEATS Although one of PEUGEOT's main criteria when designing your vehicle, the safety of your children also depends on you.
For optimum safety, please follow the following precautions:
- All children under the age of 10 are required to travel in approved restraining equipment*, suited to their weight, in a seatfitted with a seat belt
- front passenger seat*: children under the age of 10 must not travel in the "forwards facing" position, unless the rear seats are already occupied by other children or the rear seats cannot be used (not present, folded). In this case, adjust the front
passenger seat to the "mid-travel" position. The "rear facing" position is authorised.
After carrying out numerous tests, PEUGEOT recommends the following systems: Up to 18 months (up to 29 lbs. or 13 kg)
"Ršmer Babysure ", is installed with its back to the engine and secured with a three-point seat belt, on either the front or rear seat. In the front, the passenger seat must be adjusted to the "mid-travel" position.
From 9 months to 3 or 4 years (20 to 40 lbs. or 9 to 18 kg) "Ršmer Prince" is fitted in the rear with a three-point seat belt.For the safety of your children, the seat and the restraining cushion must never be separated.
From 3 to 10 years (33 to 80 lbs or 15 to 36 kg) "Ršmer Vario": is fitted in the rear with a two or three point seat belt.

TAILGATE Simultaneous locking or unlocking of the tailgate andthe doors The tailgate is locked or unlocked by the remote control or the driver's door lock.
To open, pull handle Aand lift the
tailgate.Note: the tailgate locks automatical-
ly when the vehicle is being driven at 6 mph (10 km/h) and unlocks whenone of the doors is opened or at aspeed below 6 mph (10 km/h).
"Tailgate open" warning When the engine is running or if the vehicle is being driven, the flashingof the central "STOP"warning light
accompanied by an audible signaland a diagram on the multifunctiondisplay warns you that the tailgate isnot properly closed. Tailgate release This enables the tailgate to be unloc- ked in the event of a central lockingfault.
- Fold back the rear seats to gain
access to the lock from inside the boot,
- Insert a small screwdriver into hole A of the lock to unlock the tailgate. THE SUNROOF* -
to partially open the roof: Turn
the switch to the right (three pos- sible settings).
- to close: Turn the switch back to
position "O".
- to open the roof completely:
Turn the switch to the left (six pos-sible settings).
- to close it completely: Turn the
switch back to position "O".
- safety auto-reverse: When the
sunroof is closing and meets anobstacle, it stops then opensagain.
- After a safety auto-reverse manoeuvre, to synchronise theposition of the switch with the roofposition, press and hold the switch.
Note: the sunroof shutter is manual.
