1-2Seats and Seat Controls This section tells you about the seats
-- how to adjust
them, and fold them up and down. It also tells you about
reclining front seatbacks and head restraints.
Power Seats Horizontal Control: You can adjust your vehicle's front
seats with the horizontal control located on the outboard
edge of each front seat.
Raise or lower the front of the seat by raising or
lowering the forward edge of the control. Raise or lower
the rear of the seat by raising or lowering the rear edge
of the control.
Move the seat forward or rearward by moving the
whole control toward the front or toward the rear of
the vehicle.
Moving the whole control up or down raises or lowers
the entire seat cushion.

1-3Power Lumbar Control You can increase or
decrease lumbar support
in an area of the
lower seatback.
To increase support, press and hold the front of the
control. To decrease support, press and hold the rear
of the control. Let go of the control when the lower
seatback reaches the desired level of support.
You can also reshape the side wing area of the lower
seatback for more lateral support.
To increase support, press and hold the top of the
control. To decrease support, press and hold the bottom
of the control. Let go of the control when the lower
seatback reaches the desired level of support. Memory Seat The memory function can recall preset positions for the
driver's seat cushion and the recliner. The memory function
does not store the lumbar or back support positions.
The controls for the
memory seat are located on
the driver's door trim panel.
To set your memory seat do the following:
1. Adjust the driver's seat to the desired position.
2. Press the SET button and then press the 1 or 2 button
of the memory control within five seconds.
When your vehicle is in PARK (P), press the same
button of the memory control to recall the seat setting.
To do the same thing for a second driver, follow the
preceding steps, but press the other number button of the
memory control. The memory feature only works when
the transmission is in PARK (P).

1-4Heated Front Seats The control for the driver's
side heated seat is located
on the driver's side door
panel. The control for the
passenger's side heated seat
is located on the passenger's
side door panel.
The ignition must be in RUN for this feature to operate.
To activate the heated seats, press the button once for the
HI heat setting. Press the button again for the LO heat
setting. To turn off the heated seats, press the button a third
time. An indicator light on the button will illuminate for
each heat setting anytime the heated seats are operating.
The heated front seats will be canceled after the ignition
is turned to OFF. If you still want to use the heated front
seat feature after you restart your vehicle, you will need
to press the heated seat button again.
Your vehicle also has rear heated seats. See the
section on ªRear Heated Seatsº later in this section
for more information. Reclining Front Seatbacks Your vehicles front seatbacks have a recline feature.
Vertical Control: You can use the vertical control to
adjust the angle of the seatback. Move the reclining
front seatback rearward or forward by moving the
vertical control toward the rear or toward the front
of the vehicle.

1-5But don't have a seatback reclined if your vehicle
is moving. CAUTION: Sitting in a reclined position when your vehicle is
in motion can be dangerous. Even if you buckle
up, your safety belts can't do their job when
you're reclined like this.
The shoulder belt can't do its job. In a crash, you
could go into it, receiving neck or other injuries.
The lap belt can't do its job either. In a crash the
belt could go up over your abdomen. The belt
forces would be there, not at your pelvic bones.
This could cause serious internal injuries.
For proper protection when the vehicle is in
motion, have the seatback upright. Then sit
well back in the seat and wear your safety
belt properly.

1-6Head Restraints
Slide the head restraint up or down so that the top of the
restraint is closest to the top of your head. This position
reduces the chance of a neck injury in a crash.
The head restraints tilt forward and rearward also. To adjust the tilt for either of the front head restraints,
pull it toward you until you hear a click. There are four
positions available: initial position, first click, second
click and third click. Each position will click into place.
After the third position (three clicks) is reached, pulling
the head restraint farther will release it back to the
upright position.
Pull firmly on the top of the head restraint to position it
to your liking.
The rear seat head restraints in your vehicle are
adjustable. Slide an adjustable head restraint up or down
so that the top of the restraint is closest to the top of
your head. This position reduces the chance of a neck
injury in a crash.
On some models, the head restraints tilt forward and
rearward also.
Rear Seats
60/40 Split Bench Seat (Second Row) If your vehicle has a 60/40 split bench, the seatbacks can
be reclined (Yukon Denali only) and the seats can be
folded to give you more cargo space.
The Yukon XL Denali 60/40 seats do not recline.

1-7Reclining the Seatbacks (Yukon Denali 60/40 Split
Bench Only)
To recline the seatback, do the following:
1. Pull the lever
located at the
base of the seat
cushion forward.
2. Release the lever to lock the seatback where you
want it. Pull the lever again without pushing on
the seatback and the seatback will go to an
upright position. Folding the Seatbacks (60/40 Split Bench Seat)
CAUTION: If the seatback isn't locked, it could move
forward in a sudden stop or crash. That
could cause injury to the person sitting there.
Always press rearward on the seatback to be
sure it is locked.
The rear seat may have a 60/40 split seat which may be
folded down to create a load floor and give you more
cargo space. On the Yukon Denali, the rear seatbacks are
equipped with rearward folding head restraints. When
the seatback is being folded down, the head restraint will
automatically fold rearward. For the Yukon XL Denali
you must manually pull the headrest forward before
folding the seatback.

1-8 To fold the rear seat, do the following:
1. Insert the two safety belt buckles into the pocket in
the seatback before folding the rear seat on the
driver's side.
That way, the buckles will be out of the way when
the seat is folded and will be available for passengers
to use when the seat is returned to the passenger
position. Also, make sure that nothing is under or in
front of the seat
2. Make sure the seatback is in an upright position
(unreclined) before folding it.
3. Pull up on the strap loop
located at the rear of the
seat cushion and pull the
seat cushion up. Then
fold it forward. 4. Yukon Denali: Pull the seatback forward and fold it
down until it is flat.
Yukon XL Denali : Fold the headrest(s) forward.
On the passenger side
of Yukon XL Denali
models, the lever at the
base of the seat must
be pushed down to
release the seatback.
Pull the seatback
forward and fold it
down until it is flat.
If the seatback cannot fold flat because it interferes with
the cushion, try moving the front seat forward and/or
bringing the front seatback more upright.
Once the seatbacks are folded down, on Yukon XL
Denali models only, the rear seat footwell area will be
exposed and will have to be covered by the load floor
panel(s). To create a load floor, do the following:

1-91. Release the panels from the seatbacks by pushing
forward on the latches.
2. Then fold the panels back to cover the rear seat
footwell area. Returning the Seats to an Upright Position
To return the seat to the upright position,
do the following:
1. Lift the seatback up and push it rearward all the way.
2. Lower the seat cushion until it latches into position.
3. On Yukon XL Denali models, lift the load floor
panels and latch them into the seatback.
4. Pull forward on the seatback and up on the seat
cushion to make sure the seat is securely in place.
5. Return the head restraints to the upright position.
6. Check to see that the safety belt buckles on
the driver's side seatback are accessible to the
outboard and center occupants and are not under
the seat cushions.
