Changing the battery of the remote control
Warning that the battery is flat is given by an audible signal accompanied bythe message
"Remote control batte-
ry low" on the multifunction display.
To replace the battery, remove thescrew then unclip the casing using acoin at the ring (CR 2016/3 volt battery). If the remote control does not work after the battery has been changed,reprogramme the remote control.
THE KEYS The keys allow you to
independently
operate the locks on the doors, the tailgate (opening), the fuel filler cap,the steering lock, the glove box andthe passenger air bag disarming con-trol and to switch on the ignition. Central locking From the driver's door the keys allow you:
Ðto lock or unlock the doors and tail-
gate simultaneously,
Ð to unlock simultaneously just thedoors
Unlocking the boot is possible only
by using the boot key. If one of the doors is open, the central locking does not work. The remote control This fulfils the same functions as the
key, at a distance. Locking Pressing button
Alocks the doors and
the tailgate by remote control.This is displayed by the continuouslighting of the direction indicators forapproximately two seconds. Unlocking Pressing button Bunlocks just the
doors.This is shown by the rapid flashing ofthe direction indicators. Note: do not repeatedly press the but-
ton of your remote control out of range
of your vehicle. You risk causing it notto work and the remote control wouldhave to be reprogrammed .Locating your car
To locate your car in a car park, if you have locked it:
press button A, the courtesy lights
come on and the direction indica- tors flash for a few seconds.Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the dri-
ver's door, if the key has been left inthe ignition.

Programming the remote control Switch off the ignition.
Switch the ignition on again.
Press button A.
Switch off the ignition and remove the remote control key from the
ignition lock. The remote control isnow working again.

As a safety precaution (with children on board), remove the ignition key when youleave the vehicle, even for a short time. Do not repeatedly press the button of your remote control out of range of your
vehicle. You risk causing it not to workand the remote control would have to bereprogrammed. When purchasing a second-hand vehicle: - ensure that you are given the confiden- tial card;
- have the key codes memorised by a PEUGEOT dealer, to ensure that the keys in your possession are the onlyones which can start the vehicle.
Do not make any modifications to theelectronic engine immobiliser system.
Confidential card The confidential card contains the identification code necessary for any
work carried out by a PEUGEOT dea-
ler on the system. This code is hiddenby a film which should be removed
only if necessary. Keep your card in a safe place, never inside the vehicle.
ELECTRONIC ENGINE IMMOBI- LISER This locks the engine control system a few moments as soon as the ignition
has been switched off and thereforeprevents starting of the vehicle by
anyone who does not have the key. The ignition key has an electronic chip which has a special code. When theignition is switched on, the code isrecognised and starting is possible. If the system does not function correctly , an audible signal sounds,
accompanied by a message on themultifunction display*.

Doors Opening the doors from outside Opening the doors from inside

Unlock it using the key (turn the key
from Ato B) in all cases.
The lighting is controlled by opening the boot.
Locking from the inside
To lock, press button A.
Locking one of the front doors locks the doors and the boot. Unlocking from the inside
To unlock, pull button Aor the handle.
''Door open'' alert With the engine running or the vehicle moving, the flashing of the central
"STOP" warning light, accompanied
by an audible signal and a diagramlocating the problem on the multifunc-tion screen, warns you that a door isnot properly closed.

Bonnet strut Secure the strut to hold the bonnet open. Before closing the bonnet, replace the strut in its housing.
To close Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel. Check that the bonnetis locked.
Opening the bonnet Inside the vehicle:
pull the handle on
the left- hand side, under the fascia. Outside the vehicle: lift the catch and
raise the bonnet. Filling the fuel tank The tank must be filled with fuel with the engine off
.
Insert the key then turn it to the left. Remove the cap.
A label indicates which type of fuel to use. If you fill your tank, do not continue
after the third cut-off of the pump nozz-
le. This could result in vehicle mal-functions. The capacity of the tank is approxi- mately 10,3 gallons (47 litres).

Closing the roof
With the vehicle stationary and
the handbrake applied, turn the ignition key to position M.
Press switch 3 until you hear a
signal to indicate that the roof ope-ning operation is complete.
When carrying out this operation, thefront windows and then the rear quar-ter panel windows open, the boot lidopens and the detachable parcel shelffolds up, the boot lid opens, the roofsunfolds and positions itself, then theboot lid closes again. Lock the two hooks 2.
Note: The control buttons for the win-
dows become operational again at the end of the roof operation. Operating hitch : If the operation is
interrupted, a continuous audible signal sounds: Release switch 3, then press it
again to finish closing the roof.
If the problem persists, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer to have the systemchecked. When the vehicle is moving, if a conti-nuous audible signal can be heard,this means that the roof or the boot lid,or both, are not locked:
Stop the vehicle and apply the handbrake,
Open the roof and close it again
completely, in accordance with theprocedure.
If the problem persists, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer to have the systemchecked.The roof must not be oper- ated when a loaded lug-gage carrier is fitted to theboot lid.
During roof opening and closingoperations, to avoid any risk of
injury, ensure that there is no-onein the proximity of the movingparts.
In the event of danger, release the control knob, the operation
will stop instantly. Never release button 3 for any length of time, and do not
switch off the ignition when theroof is in an intermediate posi-tion (neither completely open orclosed).
In the case of an electric or hydraulic malfunction of the roof, it is possible
to close the roof manually. When the side windows no longer
open completely, it is impossible tooperate the roof; however it is possi-ble to close it by using a special pro-cedure. Please consult the breakdown pro- cedure described at the end of thishandbook.

AUTOMATIC SWITCHING ON OF LIGHTS* Side lights and dipped beam head- lamps switch on automatically if the
light is poor. They switch off as soonas the light becomes bright enough orthe windscreen wipers stop. Note:
In foggy weather the brightness
sensor can detect sufficient light. As a consequence, the lights will not come
on automatically. This function is active when the
vehicle is supplied to the customer.
To disarm or activate the function:
- Start with the key in the accessories
position (1st notch),
- Press the end of the stalk for more than two seconds.
Note: after the ignition is switched off
and depending on the brightness, the lights remain on for 45 seconds or untilthe vehicle is locked.
Comment: The brightness sensor,
coupled with the rain sensor, is loca-ted in the centre of the windscreen,
behind the interior mirror. It is usedfor automatic switching on of thelights. Operating check Activation Acivation of this function is accompanied by an audible signal
"Automatic ligh-
ting'' on the multifunction display.
Disarming of the function is not accom-panied by any audible signal Note: the function is temporarily disar-
med when the driver uses the manual lighting controls. If the brightness sensor does not function correctly , the system acti-
vates the function (the lights come
on). The driver is alerted by an audiblesignal, accompanied by the message"switching on of lights faulty" .

Electric windows
1. DriverÕs electric window switch.
2. PassengerÕs electric window
switch.
Each switch controls, on its own side, the front window and the rear quarter
panel window. Manual operation Press the switch (to open) or pull it (to close) without going beyond thepoint of resistance. The window stops when the switch is released. The rear quarter panel window can only be opened when the frontwindow is completely open, after aninactive period of one second.
Automatic operation
Opening
The windows open automatically(when the ignition key is in the ÔonÕposition, with the engine running orthe vehicle moving).
Press the switch past the point ofresistance:
- Press briefly to completely open the front window; press brieflyagain to completely open the
rear quarter panel window,
- Sustained pressure opens the front window, then the rear quar-
ter panel, completely.
Closing
Only the front window on the driverÕsside closes automatically (enginerunning or vehicle moving), whenthe rear quarter panel is closed. Briefly pull the switch past the point of resistance to completely
close the driverÕs front window.
Note: the window switches do not
function while the roof is being opera-ted.
